It's dark as hell, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Darkness can be a good thing to play around with every once in a while. I've always found Neil's music a little bit dark, but I'm still a really big fan. He has the most amazing voice I've ever heard, hands down, and that's including bands like Queen and the Beatles. I won't say that he necessarily has better material, but he does have a better voice.
One of the best political comments songs of recent years. Primarily about the last government's ID cards plan, but also about the general growing of the surveillance state in the name of fighting terrorism. The government were talking about taking a DNA swab from all new-born babies, so the police would have a full DNA database in a couple of generations. Very scary!
@MrRWJP Excuse me please, may I just ask a question? My brother just bought the album this song is on (Fundamental) and listened to it and said it was really frighetning with lots of eerie sound effects and dark, political themes. Him saying this has put me off the album. Is Fundamental scary at all? Because I don't want to listen to it without getting creeped out.
@ThroughRock i dont think it's scary, juste listen to it, there's a lot of fun and intelligent lyrics. I never heard something like that, why would you be scared of a song ?
Yeah, this song scares me quite a bit. It's awesome but the idea of it is REALLY freaky. For some reason I thought of TRON: Legacy... I really don't know why, maybe 'Your lives exist as information'
PS- Did I forget to mention that this song is frickin' ADDICTIVE?! This is the third time I've listened to it consecutively, and I'll probably go back for a fourth.
Thanks Neil. Now you've got me abusing the replay button. Poor little button...
It discribes an entirely Orwellian society, so yes, it is a very frightening song. However, it's still the best one on Fundamental if you ask me. I wonder how familliar with 1984 Neil Tennant is? A lot of his new stuff has themes like that. Or at least they do to me, but I tend to read too deeply into stuff sometimes.
@wowgek7 the illuminati doesn't exist because is a false theory created by internet and the integral song of pet shop boys is about the ID cards and this comment of me since 2 months ago really i was wrong.
@chileanpaladin1 youre right its about the idea card but why do you think the idea card was put up in the first place and you where not wrong and they do excist they want you to think they dont excists and iilluminatis is just a name to collect multiple organizations who are working towards the same goal the frewemasons do excists thats a fact they dont even have to pay taxes here anymore so its obius there is something wrong and you also have bilderberg and they too do excist for a fact
What are the guitar chords for this song... anyone?
