  • this was the 7th time i have seen JC, the first was in Minneapolis in 1991 and this was the best show i have seen him do, the reworking of old songs were great, the band was very tight and he had some great crowd interaction (something he's not know for) just hope i have another opportunity to see him again someday

  • I agree with Andrew - best Mellencamp concert I've seen out of a half dozen or so over the last 20 years. His reworking of a number of old songs was fantastic. Danalynn, he could play all night long and not do all the hits - this show focused a lot on the new album and older songs that fit that theme. If you want the "greatest hits", buy the CD. As it was, he played nearly 2 hours and every song was solid. Also, part of the reason he didn't play longer was the Red Rocks' curfew time.

  • there is no "curfew" at Red Rocks... the promoter/artist must pay a premium to play past 11pm... so blame them not Red Rocks...

  • He couldn't even perform for 2 hours. here's the list of songs he didn't sing:

    Wild Night,Pop Singer, Play Guitar,Now More Than Ever,Love and Happiness,Again Tonight,Cherry Bomb,Dance Naked,Get a Leg Up,Hurts So Good, Jackie Brown,Your Life is Now,I Need a Lover,Wild Night,I Saw You First.

  • Fantastic! Thanks for this great post of the one and only John Mellencamp the authentic American Musican. He undedrstands the working man and pays tribute to the working class. God Bless John and his entire family and friends. I hope to catch him some day live one of the best in the same leauge as Johnny Cash!

  • I was there, best concert that I've been to.

  • Really? The best concert you've been to? how many have you been to? John used to get onstage and play 3 hours, playing every damn hit. Now he can't even play Cherry Bomb? Are you kidding? the list is long as to how many songs he DIDN'T PLAY. Cherry Bomb, Hurt So Good, Love and Happiness, Get a Leg Up, Hand to Hold On To etc. You should have seem him on the Lonesome Jubilee. He played over 3 hours and had to take a 20 min break between sets. It's kinda sad, actually.

  • I've been to a few. Most of the artists don't even have instruments at their concerts that I go to. Some of those artists are lip singing. As for John Mellencamp, I think he could've got more songs in if he started an hour earlier.

  • Kinda sad about what? LJ was 21 years ago. At least he's still relevant and out there rockin! What can you do as long as you did 21years ago? And who plays 3 hrs anymore? Get over it honey.
