The origins of most Malayan and or the Malay Archipelago occultic arts are not even MALAY to begin with.
Such origins have through the previous centuries influenced a large part of the previously Buddhist-Hindu Brahma worshipping Malays of the Archipelago.
And by inter-mingling with the PAGANistic cultural values of the OLD MALAYS - the well known occultic malay arts began to surfaced.
Note before ISLAM ; MALAYS were PAGANS and Buddhist-Hindu. So no wonder most of their culture is so.
Actually, I don't have the intention to watch. After my wife insisted in watching this movie, so we go. It turned out to be one good movie. Its not that scary but interesting. Better then the previous malay ghost movies that I have watched. More fighting and the story line is not draggy. The actor and actress was very good in keeping the movie alive. Its like real. The ending was a bit heartbreaking. For this movie, I'm giving 4 stars out of five.
