  • sooooooooo tasty.

  • that doesn't look like a good banh mi to me. Not enough fillings, no pickled daikon, 1 sad cilantro stem! Also, any one surprised that banh mi is so cheap needs to know to NEVER pay more than $2.50. If you do, your'e getting ripped off.

  • @catface135 I know right. I paid 1.50 in TX and got 10 Banh Mi without anything.

  • Some places have Banh Mi (Which directly translates to "bread") with like, 8 layers. Viet style mayo(it's very rich unlike American style which is slightly sour), meat, more meat, pickled carrot and radish (taste sour and sweet and very crunchy. It's much less acidic than pickles), cilantro, jalapenos, and a meat pate. It's like 3.75. I never realized how much cheaper banh mi is then western subs until now actually.

  • I will show you the best banh mi from san jose...plenty of meat too!

  • a buck fifty? i am viet and i can get a bigger subs than this one just for 1 buck (20.000 VND)

  • not enough of anything!

  • It barely has any meat in there. Not good at all.

  • @Tiennumidori viet sandwich don't need meet to be good lol

  • No duck liver pate? so far most bread place have skipped this ingredient on me. That's not the perfect sandwich. Maybe they have banned this ingredient? hmm.

  • @UnitedPebbles

I smelled Foie Gras the other day at banh mi Cali but when it my turn..zero...nilch...nothing.

I also heard Cho Cu use foie gras pate on their bread as well.

You know Foie Gras have a distinct smell. Salivating. Yeah, I know it banned in America, but you can import it from Europe...it's only fifty bucks. The delis are getting cheap these days.

  • wait... what the heck!! where is this place. the asian side is comming out lol its screaming CHEAP FOOOD!!!!!

  • not enough fucking meat..you got juked...

  • @siliconsurf It only cost a buck fifty - it was cheaper than the iced coffee - so one can't really complain.

  • @FrenchMartini $1.50? u playing me? damn that's cheap.....

  • @lucirz I play you not. The sandwich, an iced coffee, and two other dishes cost a total of $5.50. We spent more on gas getting there.

  • @FrenchMartini where is this? what state?

  • @lucirz It's called Banh Mi Cho Cu in Westminster, CA (Orange County).

  • @FrenchMartini here in houston in china town u can find fried rice for 3 people for $4 and a side for 3 people for about the same so yes i believe she only spent 5.50

  • @FrenchMartini I usually get more meat for $1.50...you got the white people special..no meat for you!

  • @siliconsurf calm down man. no need for the language.

  • @siliconsurf

in USA it costs 1.5 bucks but only 50 cents in it's own country

  • @elemetalcrash cost of living is higher in the US...

  • @siliconsurf

    yeah i know it. thanks

  • @elemetalcrash I don't know but I think you got ripped of there. It should only be 30 to 40 cents in Vietnam.

  • better then subway ahah

  • @asianRSXdriver91 subway sandwiches, you get sick of those very quick. i can eat 3 viet sandwiches and still go on. i eat half of a subway sandwich an di don't want to eat anymore, i just throw out the other half...

  • @lucirz lol yup that is so true subway is just too plan

  • The butter looking spread that you couldn't identify is pate(with a slash over the E) which is a liver spread. The spread is French which makes sense since Vietnam is French-influenced.

  • omg Definitely! Okay.. If you ask Fresno residents that eat banh mi, most of them would say "Queen Sandwich" located on Clinton and Fresno right behind the gas station and next to the laundry mat. Second place would be Saigon which is on First and a small street called Hammond Ave. Saigon is right across from a big asian store named Golden Bowl. :D i hope it helps. ithink it helps more looking at google map lol A nice cold coconut drink goes perfectly well with the crisp warm sandwich

  • @kulyia Oh and i usually get spicy. superrrr Delicious! enjoy soon ^^

  • come to Fresno honey :)

  • @kulyia I drive through Fresno often; can you recommend a good place?

  • I love banh mi. My favorite is bbq pork.

  • I think every country has a tradition food, and everyone of us has different taste of it, so why don't we show some respect to each other? We don't talk trash about other people's traditionals right? I like Banh Mi, Quiznos, and Subway, as well as foods from other countries. They're all tasty. :D

  • i like <3 :)

  • Comment removed

  • yea..viet food..yummmy

  • wheres the meat? :(

  • I love banh mi but that looks sooo plain not that much stuff in there?!?! When I get mine its like full.

  • yeah i know... maybe its cause she doesn't want a lot on her... i love my stuff banh mi

  • Viet subs are way better than western subs

  • I'm goin to Quiznos, we'll stop by the freeway to get your sandwich. No charge. Cause I'm nice like that.

  • Quiznos is nasty. Subway is better. But still cannot beat my style Banh Mi.

  • @maijudyvang

Subway used Italian garlic sauce on the bread (like breadstick) and the wide use of scallop...scallop and ham make things merry.

    Quiznos is pizza sandwich.

Let see who will win in this gourmet war? France or Italy? You know French food cost more.

  • @asiantrolls yess, of course.

  • it is butter...they usually put that

  • the pepper is great!!!1 its so spicy i just love it!!!!

  • Banh Mi Tit Noung

  • used to seeing the carrot and vegis normally cut julienne and lightly pickled , think its only the cilantro I am used to seeing whole

  • the sauce is duck fat. (lard) its very tasty

  • I think the sauce is mayonnaise.

  • that one looks good. I love Bahn mi! It is so cool how the Viet ppl got the idea from the french.

  • Shoot. I'm hungry now. D:

  • im eating one irhgt now

  • Banh Mi for Life

  • lol that sauce is good but if u no how the cooks make it, you probably pule

  • bahn = bread mi = the thing she calld sauce =thit = meat

  • so good azn people need to meet up wit me and eat azns im viet cambodian thai laos

  • LOOK OUT SUBBY-WUBBY JARED CHUBBY-TUBBY....here comes the new kid in town...HAV HA HA YHA HA HA HA HA HA i go where the food is REAL!!!!!

  • THIS SANDWHICH IS BETTER THAN THE CUBAN sandwhich for sure!!!

  • YUM! Better than Subway for sure!

  • 00:19-00:22....the yellow stuff you see IS butter. Thanks for appreciating what I call my favorite Vietnamese fast food.

  • The yellow is actually not butter. It's mayonnaise slowly mixed with vegetable or sometimes canola oil. It can be easily made at home. Aside from the subs, my family and others also eat it with steamed lobster.

  • Thanks a million for pointing it out. According to wikipedia, it is common that the mayonnaise mixture is used as a spread for the Vietnamese Banh Mi. In East New Orleans (where I'm from) the ladies at the Vietnamese flea market had a tub of country crock in plain full view while the sanwiches are assembled. BTW I prefer the cucumbers cut into spears for my sandwich.

  • can you tell me how to make the spread if u can cause it is what really makes the banh mi so good. thank you.

  • @me24miget I don't think it is butter. i think it is mayo that was whisked by hand. The yolk gives it the butter color

  • @mamasanlzn egg butter, basically mayo

  • Ooops, I meant to reply to tqd's comment.

  • Hulla, gut banh mi, cut me a half

    Yammmmy, ngmgmmg

  • the bread looks hard

  • Vietnamese subs are normally served on a french style baquette that is heavier on the crust than on the guts.

  • since you guys like Banh Mi so much , i would suggest that you should go to banh mi Nguyen Ngo, on the left side of LEE'S , pretty good Banh Mi overther lolz

  • Too far of a drive from L.A.!

  • Hmmm Vietnamese food! Tự nhiên cảm thấy đói...

  • yeh the bread doesn't look fresh. In vietnam, the bread is magical by it self. soft and moist in the inside, thin crunchy and tasty crust.

this bread is missing pork floss. and way too much vegie

  • Spreads: homemade egg yolk mayonnaise, French style pork liver paste.

Meat: mainly pork, you can choose between meatballs, or roasted, or grilled, or various vietnamese style ham.

Veggies : cucumber, daikon radish pickles and carrot pickles.

Spices : chili pepper, cilantro, scallion

Optional : soy sauce, black pepper

  • I'm Vietnamese, and growing up around the Vietnamese town in Philadelphia, this recipe you put here is definitely the one I'm familiar with. I especially love the flavors of the cilantro, liver paste, and soy sauce. Now I'm hungry! :D

  • That's a US made Banh Mi, i can tell :) In Saigon, the bread are baked in such a way that the crust have a distinctively dark and oily look and it's a very thin and very crunchy crust, while the inner part is still soft and full-bodied... yummi!!

  • and maybe you can tell that it's a US made banh mi is cuz everyone is speaking fluent English in the video? hahaha...kidding...

  • @tqd agreed... but the dead give away that it is made in america is... the jalepenos

  • It's like mayo but it's made from egg yolks instead of egg whites.

  • mayo isn't made from egg whites

  • he was talkin about the suace that was on it stupid

  • yes it is, mayp is made with both egg whites and the yolk

  • *mayo

  • and oil

  • Wicked! :P lol

  • that was random
