You keep the hard drive and faceplate and mail the rest to microsoft. There isn't a charge if it's RROD, just pay shipping to them. The elite is a nice system, but if you have one already it's the cheaper option to let them fix it.
Died the RROD and resurrected by Microsoft and it's faster and super quiet now. My friend bought one of the first 360's and had it sent off 7 times. He just ended up buying a new one.
i bought my 360 when it barely came out the one without hdmi, and its barely messing up on me. its not reading disc sometimes and sometimes they do work. i bought the new Modern Warfare 2 360 console and i think i like the halo 3 360 better but the 20 GB hard drive is a let down. :) i heard this new super elite is going to have updates on the disc drive and other things.

Lets say one day someone breaks into your home and that's where the power brick comes to the rescue, now you have a power brick to defend yourself from any intruder. My console sits horizontal. It doesn't matter how you stand it really. The RROD happens because of a faulty motherboard with the integrated graphics card. After a while they go to failure at something like 70 percent. Other people say to stand the console up and that will prevent the RROD.
no the only time its a fualty motherboard is when it gets RRoD right out of the box the rest of the times are becuase of over heating standing your system up incresses the risk of over heating by 70 percent because when you sit your xbox up its siting on its main vent and bearly getting air out of the smaller vents witch is insufficant and has the xbox gasping for air

The Elite is awesome. I really like the matte, black finish on them. I do wish mine had 120 gig HD instead of the 20 gig. If I want to upgrade the new HD won't match. Unless I tear them apart and switch the inside components. Enjoy the Elite my friend.

The production run right after mine started using the newer, cooler running processors. Those aren't giving any problems. You got one of the better ones.

Man that is great. I think while it is gone for repair, I'll build a small shrine and seal it behind glass in an air conditioned, humidity controlled, uv protected environment. Perhaps I can avoid having to send it in three times like my friends have.

To anyone offended by the comment here. It was just a joke. jotaco123 was joking and so was I. The PS3 vs. Xbox 360 battle isn't to be taken seriously. I like both systems and think the PS3 is superior in a lot of ways.

since i opened the box to mine like this one human hands have not touched it...to move it u have to put on gloves to look at it u have to put on sunglasses and to walk by u must have clean shoes, feet and socks or else i will get RROD

Man that is great. I think while it is gone for repair, I'll build a small shrine and seal it behind glass in an air conditioned, humidity controlled, uv protected environment. Perhaps I can avoid having to send it in three times like my friends have.
