@Polored1066 Mutas only receive half damage from goliaths so that each hit was only doing 10 and plus 2+ per upgrade instead of four, so yes goliaths are good against air but they are certainly not hard counters

You dont understand this game and its timing variables, if he skipped mutas he woulda got timing rushed by golies anyway by boxer. The answer is Hydras. Shoulda spent all that money on hydras and carapace instead of mutas and air armor. Then if boxer gets tanks, doesnt matter, wouldve given him enough time to get to hive for the dark swarm and lurkers/cracklings. You cant just rush to hive tech though or youll get owned

He does not have enough time to go for Guardian, at the same time Savior make 1 Guardian, Boxer could make 2-3 Goliah. Morev over, Boxer continuously attack and the only thing he has on hand is Mutask, non-upgrade Zergling is just too weak.

Goliaths and guardians have the same range. So if Savior did decide to go guardians, Boxer could move his goliaths under them, as goliaths move faster and kill them. Guardians are weak against mass goliath.

If he did get clumped guardians, Boxer would simply get science vessels with irradiate to destroy them.

I agree with you that Savior should have switched tech after he saw massed goliaths and heavy turret cover, perhaps to defiler/ling. Mutas get destroyed by goliaths.

thats what ive been thinking, theyre definetly gona have to patch them like that, as in my opinion i already think they are a little bit strong. i mean u can make 3 at once, they are the cheapest of the equivalents, (wriaths, scouts) and WHATS WITH SCOUTS!?! THEY FREAKING SUCK! they cost SO much but they do NO damage on ground and u already have sairs for anti air!! plus pretty much every zerg strategy involves getting quick mutas while scouts or wraiths are much more uncommon

and there is so much u have to do to stop them if ur a terran or protoss. you have to make sure u have at least 2 turrets in each space so they are always getting shot at, so it will end up costing u a whole lot of money just to stop the attack, let alone winning. and in a ZvZ they are always the same. its honestly just a race to get mutas and whoever gets them faster wins. and so many ppl brag about theyre "Muta Micro" pffft half of it isnt micro at all, ur supposed to take away the hurt one

not just move them in circles while getting shot at and firing every now and then/ muta micro is simple, focus fire, and if one gets too damaged move it away and bring it back, half the stuff some ppl are doing is literally moving back and forth getting shot at!

waste gas.two guard may = 300/500 gas

= 3 mutas and 200 gas.

every 2 guards you get, you get lesser 3 mutas. Mutas more mobile too.

Because goliaths only do half damage to mutalisk and are usually not that effective against them unless the player has very good micro control.

the only thing that ruins that logic is the fact savior has heavily done his funding into mutalisks and expected biological attacks which are in his favor. making defilers wouldnt be a problem for slayers boxer, he had starports expecting defilers to mass irradiate, which would further demolish the use of defilers and it would definitely counter mutalisk stack. slayers boxer uncommon counter totally threw the game out of proportion, he had it in the palm of his hands ever since the first goliath

Nice game, but i wonder.. how comes Savior just kept on making mutalisks even when he knew that he had an army of goliaths to fight? Also, why was there not any defiler? I guess its not a simple thing to play vs Boxer, but for that i saw, Savior just kept on making the worst units possible to fight them. I don't know but, why not turn them into guardians at least? or use zerglins with dark swarm? Anything but mutalisks.. Anyway, I'm sure he could've done much better than that.

Actually, mutalisks are the only unit that fights goliaths. Not sure why he didn't get defilers but meh. Because goliath's anti air is explosive type damage, and mutas are small, goliaths only do half of the damage against mutalisks. Guardians are large sized and slow.

Oh, well I didn't know that the guardians would've received more damage from the goliaths than the mutalisks but then again, does that mean that the extra damage that would be dealt to a guardian would be dealt to a mutalisk nearby instead? But anyway, the goliaths are meant to kill the air-units so i still doupt that it was the best units to chose for the situation.

Well, hydras and lings would be completely destroyed by the tanks and vultures that Boxer would counter with if they came out so those aren't options. Lurkers are out of the questions and ultralisks are destroyed quite a bit by tanks as well. Mutas are usually one of the few options. Maybe muta/hydra.
