What a cultivated response. We can guess your religious leanings...

    Mike

    polite limey

  • Hell is made by Allah for people who don't believe on him. Who gave you your life?? who created the whole universe?? Can't you use your mind ??!!

  • @HeavenOman

    1. my parents

    2. nobody

    3. yes.

    any more questions?

  • @HeavenOman prove it

  • Total respect for ricky

  • Unlike most smarmy people hopping aboard the latest fad, I look at all smarmy people with equal contempt.

  • Unlike smarmy people who claim they are 'good' because they follow the latest fads, I regard all smarmy people with contempt.

  • ricky is inteeligent, interesting and fascinating

  • I'm not a big fan of Gervais normally but total respect actually!

  • You just have to watch this clip until 12 seconds in to realise the level of drone like mentality a rational free thinking individual is dealing with. The instinctive laugh from the host after Ricky Gervais says "When someone thanks God, I don't get offended" speaks volumes to me, and I understand why Ricky felt the need to keep a straight face so that his point was carried despite the fact that it flew straight over the hosts head.

  • Good old Piers its great to him doing so well over there im gona miss him on BGT.

Probably wont even watch it this year after recent revelations, check out BGT reject a great voice that couldn't even make it ot the judges round

  • @davidgibbs75 piers is a douchebag :P

  • @spore0808 Tell me about it i was just being sarcastic lol he is another one like Mr Cowell undeserving of his fortunes, i like that word douchebag by the way ill remember it for the future!

  • You are ALL proving mr gervais right. Arguing over who's religion is wrong and who's is right. lol!! it scares me that 70% of the US still beleives in the genesis theory. 100% of those people know nothing of ancient history too and would only recoil in horror and deny knowing that most of the major stories from the bible are ripped straight from pagan beliefs, a religion much older than christianity by the way. Then christian fear turned a pagan symbol into the sign of their devil. Look it up :)

  • @MrRafe85 thank you for being a ricky believer :)

  • Just when this got interesting it ended.

Stand up comedy is the right attitude towards religion. Useless superstition deserves just ridicule and laughter, untill the delusional fools hide in shame. Religion is an embarrassing relic from the dark ages, its high time we got rid of it.

  • just ask karl about it .sorted!

  • It's like playing with fire and get burned the brain is a very mighty instrument and atheists just like the users batter his long as you have love peace and kindness in your heart that your soul and when you die that's what lives on is what you did on this planet and you did good and made people cry when he died that's all that matters

  • People do have a right to believe whatever it is that they want to believe, and an open mind is an essential thing to have, but your mind has to eventually close on something. it is not enough to say that everyone has their opinion. We must all take the next step and decide what we believe to be true. All thoughts on reality are not equal. There is only one reality.

  • almost every christian thanks god in public when given the chance - it's just "status quo" and nobody complains... -_-

  • Gervais is brilliant.

  • Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • So they cut out the part that makes the most sense!! When he says he has the right to not believe in god like religious people have the right to believe in god, or something to that effect. This is what religious people need to think long and hard about! Another thing, just because someone has different views to yourself doesn't make them evil/wrong/going to hell....

  • Didnt really realise how much he stutters . His religious views ( atheism ) are right though :)

  • @Izaak247 it's not a stutter. It's called LIVE tv.

  • Believe in 99.99% of the big bang but you keep asking this question to yourself over and over and a small percentage of you will believe the universe cannot have happened simply by chance. If it did it's both miraculous and incredible, but at the same time kind of depressing.

  • since when did actors become such pussies? they hired Ricky Gervais and they knew what they signed up for. in this full episode of him on Piers's show, he makes this point several times.

  • Every word he said is right, he has the same right to not believe in God as people who believe in God, I am loving this guy more, love his films and yes he is looking great with the weight loss, it is safe to say Ricky is someone who I would love to meet. Ok not everyone may like his style of humor, but listening to this you can see he really has his head screwed on, and I love his humor he really has made me laugh a lot x

  • Chris rock said inthe film *Dogma* Have an Idea not a belief. Ideas can change and are open. Beliefs are closed and so hard to change.

Alot of people are so arrogant they blind themselves to their own religon doing more harm than good. Ricky as an atheist probably is closer to how jesus wanted us to be than all the people he *offended* by what he said.

  • Now why are we supposed to be so excited about Piers Morgan?

  • Piers Morgan is a cunt. That is all.

  • LOVE U RICKY. AMAZING LINE THAT U LOOK ALL RELIGION EQUAL, UR A COOL MEN/CLEVER.

  • @salwa0031 As Hemmingway once said "All thinking men are atheist" so is a man like Gervais. cheers!

  • The first time I saw him at the golden globes... I thought he was an idiot. Then I realised... he was telling the truth, and it was really funny. He's earned my respect too.

  • "i get a funny feeling when i see a friend"

rickys gotta be talking about karl there :)

  • Ricky deserves credit for publicly stating his views. The human race has invented gods for thousands of years to explain the origins of the universe, we now have science to answer these questions. If through Ricky's work he gets more people to question their ancient belief systems, then that can only be a good thing.

  • Piers just unwittlingly again highlighted the automatic bigotry and bias for religion.

So, it's NOT offensive for somebody to thank god? that's not offensive to atheists? but it IS offensive for somebody to thank there is no god? it's NOT offensive to flaunt your believe but it IS offensive to flaunt your 'un-belief;'? Get fucked.

Gervais = comedy god. Piers Morgan = Twat.

  • The only reason I am watching this show...

    is because of Ricky.

    Morgan....is a shill.

  • Much better version of this story:

    watch?v=I8gsIuEvEs0

  • Sour taste in my mouth...

Usually brilliant Ricky Gervais, this time is stuttering, apologetic, mumbling without conviction in his voice.. He is trying to defend (!!!) his atheism, which-IMHO- is the worst method of presenting your case. Piers Morgan is in constant attack on everything Ricky stands for and, poor Ricky allowed him to proceed in his assaults.

    Oh, well... Maybe next time?

  • @MrJurekGG

    That's your opinion.

  • @MrJurekGG

    What a boob.

  • I believe the earth was also made over billions of years ... at the same time I also believe in god.

Ricky Gervais still my favorite stand up comedian. Not to mention he did the earth a great justice by creating the Office.

  • Piers Morgan is such a twat

  • How on earth could stating that you think something be offensive, its all fake outrage to try and control other people. No christian has ever "been outraged" that when a muslim says christians are going to hell as it says in the koran, its all bullshit bullying. Do we have to start "getting offended" when people claim they believe in god? What kind of bullshit is that?

  • @Philosification muslims say that and the christians say that and the jewish people say that and athiests say ehh who cares. Im with ricky Its now not the afterlife (not that i believ in one) all of us are to be held accountable in our lives thats why its called life... if ya want life to be good your a good person and if ya want to be negative and an asshat then you become a republican. XD

  • Atheism is a philosophical state one arrives at after seeing how religion can be divisive to society. An atheist does not wish to be boxed in. Atheists are free thinkers. One need not be religious to be spiritual. Religionism not only keeps people divided, it also empowers some rulers who truly need a means of controlling people.

  • thank "god" peirs has moved to America and we dont have to put up with him in the uk anymore

  • thank "god" peirs has moved to America and we dont have to put up with him in the uk anymore

  • @tmarritt he probably came here for the dental. :P

  • @BlackMambakins

He certainly didn't come for the intellectual freedom...

  • @BlackMambakins noo, they come to france, where i live, for dental

  • "Unlike religious people, I look at all religions equally."

    great line!

  • @hardinmichael1981 Why do you like this line? Should religions be looked at equally? Are they all right? Are any of them right?

  • @truth101z All Religions are equally WRONG! DUH!

  • @hardinmichael1981 Well, I think you missed my point in asking. I understood his point, I just look at it as a foolish line, and you think it a great one, I was just wondering why you thought so. I take you are an atheist then.

  • @truth101z which religion do you believe is the right/correct one and why?

  • @hardinmichael1981 The first part is a quick answer, in that I am a Bible believing Christian. Answering why I am would require much more than the space allowed. In short, my answer for believing in Jesus Christ an the Bible are the Bible's prophetic portions which prove Divine authorship. (Ex. how could man, without Divine influence, write the book of Daniel?), the Bible's historical, scientific and archaeological accuracy, and most importantly how God has worked in my life personally.

  • @hardinmichael1981 Besides the positive evidence of the Bible, I am further assured by the simplicity of opposing views as well as the contradictions they contain. Truth is defined in short by someone "telling it like it is." The Bible does just that, while all other religions and worldviews do not. People are offended by this type of talk, but that doesn't make sense, because truth is always exclusive. Pluralism is a myth in the sense that all truth claims cannot be simultaneously true.

  • @truth101z what is some of this "positive evidence" of the bible? I've never heard of it and would genuinely like to know. I won't get offended if you don't say/do anything offensive. Just tell me 1) what you believe, & 2) why you believe it, and maybe we'll go on from there. feel free to PM if you wish.

  • @truth101z Besides the positive evidence of the Qur'an,I am further assured by the simplicity of opposing views as well as the contradictions they contain.Truth is defined in short by someone"telling it like it is."The Qur'an does just that, while all other religions and worldviews do not.People are offended by this type of talk, but that doesn't make sense, because truth is always exclusive.Pluralism is a myth in the sense that all truth claims cannot be simultaneously true.

  • @kleenex3000 I understand you attempt at disproving me by replacing the Bible with the Qur'an, but is that effective. Its just another way of saying the same thing I was refuting in the first place. All religions are not the same because there is only one truth, and I believe the Bible tells the truth while others do not. You should attempt to show me where the Bible inaccurately describes reality and the Qur'an doesn't. Do prove the BIble's authority I would first point to its prophecies.

  • @kleenex3000 The Qur'an does not contain prophecies that would validate its Word's as authored by God, while the Bible, in hundreds of places, predicted future events, especially in the coming of Christ in which over 100 specific prophecies were fulfilled. Without God, how is that possible? Before you simply disagree or claim I'm wrong, you should look into it. You should also study the book of Daniel. How could Daniel predict such future events without God's Divine influence?

  • @truth101z Verify/refute: G-D=Invisible imaginary Fiction, EVOLVED outof ☼MG☼Ddesse S☼NNE=the VISIBLE propulsion of the Evolution of all live beings on Earth. Holy Scripture=Biggest SCAM ever. Read the BOOK OF THE DEAD: The 10 commandements were already EVOLVED, only to become PLAGIARIZED in the Holy Scriptures. Cross=Beams=S☼NNE=Glorification; NOT death penalty=STAKE. JC=Jesus[Christus=TITLE!=Anointed(Savior)] never existed: He EVOLVED out of the posthumous glorification of JC=Julius Caesar

  • @hardinmichael1981 That's something said by people who are totally uneducated in religion or who are just plain ignorant.

  • @SpeedyTase please explain

  • @hardinmichael1981 Most atheists have an "I don't care about religion. It's all the same to me" attitude. Gervais' attitude is the same. For what ever reason Gervais feels to talk bad about religion he is totally blind to the need of most people to stay faithful to whatever religion they practice. It's the basis of his stand up, his jokes on interview shows, or that is just how he feels. He needs to clarify clearly what he doesn't like about people who are religious, or religion itself.

  • @hardinmichael1981 And I can tell you this: In Catholocism, we are taught to respect all religions. It's all right to have opinions but we keep them to ourselves out of respect for the next person. It's in the Catechesis to be tolerant and respectful.

  • Fair play to him, what did they expect when they booked him, for the second year running.....

  • Ricky Gervais just earned so much respect from me. Well said.

  • @robotfreshpies i doubt he cares

  • thx for the unedited extended version that was very insightful of learning more of Rick Gervais

  • Ricky Gervais brings up a good point, and something that I have noticed myself: why is it that simply SAYING you are an atheist is considered "offensive" and "antagonistic" against religion??? Why am I, essentially, being punished for the ideas that someone else is PROJECTING onto me?? And the even stranger thing - after just mentioning my atheism - is that religious people then feel completely justified to go on the offensive, bc they feel like they are just preemptively deflecting MY attack.

  • @knicoal good question. I think that their "offensive [attack]" as you put it is essential defensive. It's like they have to attack their own doubts.

  • @knicoal I hear ya! I honestly think that they get offended because they know their religion isn't true. Deep down I don't think anyone really swallows what the church says. So the only option they have is to get angry, because they certainly can't offer up any evidence. *Cheers!* :D

  • @knicoal move to france, or for that matter the uk or the netherlands, or belgium... many countries in the european union have 25 to 45 percent athiest populations

here in france about 37 percent of people are athiest, people dont get offended, one out of three people you meet is athiest.

  • @sirwinfredsmith I see your point but I don't think you need to leave the States. The USA is a very big country. There are many states with large atheist populations (eg; New Hampshire, Maine, even Nevada). I would encourage atheist Americans to stay where they are and stand their ground. Not to mention that states with large atheist populations also have the lowest crime rates. Don't mention that to the christians though - they get a bit a paranoid about it.

  • I don't know what Morgan's personal views are, so he might be relating common Christian (or religionistic) questions typically made to atheists. Theirs is a simple shell game: God is love, therefore if you don't believe in God you can't understand or even talk about love. I'd answer that the God described in scripture is far less moral and loving than anyaverage human - given that God is allegedly omnipotent and decides to still behave that way, he's in fact worse than any spoiled 5 year old.

  • Thank god I'm an atheist!

That sentence is open for interpretation, if Christians get offended by that it only shows that their faith is weak because they never actually thought about their faith.

  • Ricky is the man! :P

  • Ricky believes in LOVE <3

  • Morgan is such a prick it's actually kind of surreal

  • thank you!
