@noahmcdx Fair enough, I ain't blind, I don't think he'll live up to the hype, If you have seen him play or played against him you would agree with me
@Lambo460 I don't think he'll live up to the hype, but I definitely think he'll be very good. It's hard to live up to the hype of being the next greatest player.
But honestly, as a catcher, he is terrible. He catches like most highschool catchers, with their legs tucked in and their bodies turned to the side. But what I've noticed is almost all of Bat-R-Up's catchers are terrible at receiving.
@noahmcdx Now we agree, he's got a great arm witch has allowed him to throw out high schoolers and community college base runners with else, but that slow transfer after receiving won't allow him to gun down say Carl Crawford or Andrew Mccutchen. He does catch the ball kind of douchey, my first comment was purely sarcastic about his catching technique lol
@Lambo460 Nah his release is good enough with his arm strength, if he gets the ball out fast and throws a line drive one-hopper like Lou Marson of the Indians then he'll be fine. But he's going to be an outfielder anyways.
he has his swag and a good attitude. he loves the game of baseball and just wants to play it because it is his passion. i tip my cap to this kid, i mean i may not be more than just a college kid working towards even half a shot of what he has but he is legit.
I hate to say this, can't wait so see him in the big leagues, but it's a good thing he's converting into an outfielder; watching him catch makes me cringe. Unfortunately more than anything else, proper catching mechanics are a bit of a rarity.
@boobman543 So you threw harder than 96 off the mound at 17? You throw 100 plus from the outfield with a cro hop? I think not. Or, you'd be playing ATLEAST pro ball.
@boobman543 His catching blows. What are you talking about? What major league catcher catches like that? That's not how you catch. And he's not going to take instruction from anyone now if hasn't already learned.
@engelmen18 ehh, no. Naming two catcher that use the glove does not make it popular. 75% of mlb catchers use a Wilson A200, or another brands model of the mitt.
This guy's an amazing catcher, but I kinda wish he played infield or somewhere like that. From what I've heard, he stole something like 36 bases and scored from second on passed balls/wild pitches. And he looks pretty damn fast when he runs to 1st base. Catching's gonna take a toll on his legs and knees, and I just wonder how many bases he'd steal if he wasn't catcher.
@bgsuball22. Aight thanks for the advice. I played catch with my friends 12.75 inch Primo and it felt really heavy. I'm just gonna go with the Pro Preffered =)
@countrykid96@MLHoudArsenal14@SEnsiStar32 I'm getting a new catchers mitt. I'm either getting the Rawlings Pro Preferred 2 Tone 32.50 Inch mitt, the Wilson A2000 32.50 Inch mitt, the All Star Pro Elite 32.00 Inch mitt, or the Rawlings Primo 32.50 Inch mitt. The Primo's leather is great but I'm concerned that the glove is too heavy. I want to know which glove is best for a 13 y/o catcher and if you used any of these gloves before. Thanks
All these are good mitts. I would go with the All Star or the Pro Preferred though, the A2000's tend to break down very easily and the Primo is a very heavy mitt. Overall, The Pro Preferred will last you the longest and will run you around 300 and the All Star is slightly cheaper running around 250.
I was doing some research, and I was wondering. There is a Jason Gentile in the CT Area. He has blogs on him and is hell of the player. He has gotten compared to Harper saying Gentile is better. It's tough. There is a video of him on my channel, of him taking some Batting Practice. There were a few people watching and recording him with cameras. Tell me what you think!
