I live in St. Louis and Im a Cardinal fan (CUB HATER)! I went to Detroit once! It was nice! Campus Martius was cool! Did u know the Rennisance center is a hotel too?

If you're staying in the right part of Detroit, right by the ballpark and football stadium, it's actually a really nice place to be. That's where I stayed, and I liked Detroit.

Leeman, I gotta be honest with you. I absolutely LOATHE the White Sox. I can't stand Ozzie Guillen or AJ Pier-however-his-name-is-spell­ed. I think Ken Harrelson's play-by-play is some of the worst, whine-filled game calling in baseball. However, you seem to be a fair person and I tip my hat to you as a fellow baseball fan.

Once they start chanting Detroit Sucks, you know things are looking good.

Most people talk about how terrible Detroit is as a city... sometimes not even in game context.

The part of Detroit I stayed at when I visited was very nice. I liked my stay there.

Why is there a Detroit sucks chant at 2:00? The series is at 4-4. Our weakest pitchers have gotten the losses too, Miner, Galarraga, Willis, and Zumaya (he's alright though). Wait until the next series and if Verlander, Jackson, and Porcello are pitching you'll get swept.

I'm not sure what exactly started the whole chant, but people all over the US apparently chant "Detroit sucks."

For this game, the chants started because of the benches clearing, but there were more chants spread throughout the game. It was in full force when the Blackhawks played the Red Wings.

For the record, I actually like Detroit. I stayed in a nice part of downtown for about two weeks.

We took 2 of 5 it wasnt a sweep you won one game cuz of an error/unearned run and the boys in blue helped you on the other 2 with 2 bad calls ( Inge's so called hit by pitch was your winning run and Wise was safe at home plate and called out that would have been our winning run) so it wasnt like you manhandled the Sox... and your going to hear chants like that form opposing teams fans so get over it ....geez...

Yep, Wise was definitely safe in that game. The game ends right there if the ump makes the call.

I just can't understand how he didn't make the safe call. On THAT close of a play in that big of a situation, safe seems to have been the right call. Nothing I see is conclusive, so unless he saw something I didn't, he should've been called safe.

Umps make bad calls. This was last year... before the perfect game attempt. Nobody denies that Galarraga deserved that perfect game... but bad calls are just a part of baseball.

Thanks for posting! After looking at the play over and over it was extremely close but i think Wise was safe. Take the Detroit broadcasters on FSN who after commercial break further reviewed the play and called it a break for the tigs. Would love to see instant replay used on close home plate calls!!!!!!!!

I will continue life thinking he was safe, I just hope the umpire doesn't say he was wrong. I HATE when that happens... Gee, thanks for telling us you blew it, we still lost. I don't hope for instant replay though... human error is a part of baseball. I like the arguments of fans saying safe or out, fair or foul, whatever.
