I would like to point out that this video is 9secs long so not really long enough to make any informed judgement on her training! She was quite young in this video, her natural posture was to curl behind the bit so at this point we were trying to slow the trot down so she could balance herself and when she came BTV raise the hands to encourage her not to. As she got stronger the curling BTV became less. vid wasnt posted as a perfect picture ;o)
who gives a shit about the seat , that poor horse is in a head lock , below vertical ... how about that ??? is that spectacular or what .... get your priority straight people.
no its not yanking the head down.. its collecting... and its an amazing sitting trot.. it doesnt cause the horse pain.. if it did the horse wouldnt do it
@tuyry1 You don't collect in your hands. You collect throught your seat and legs. And if a horse is cranked, they have no other choice. Thier owner is holding their head in place. I can count numerous Olympic level horses who are ridden improperly.
So even if the horse is in pain doesn't mean he will just stop moving. He will begin to compromise and perform improperly.
This isn't the worst form of cranking, no. But it's still cranking and it is still damaging the horse.
true.. and i know that collecting isnt just hands... ive always known that.. but if the horse is in pain.. SOMETIMES it will stop or throw its head up.. but everythig you said is true so im not going to argue
i tried sitting at the trot for the first time yesterday, and my instructer said i pretty much got it first try, but the horse i rode has two trots, a really smooth jog and a really bouncy trot! I love sitting at the trot, i think it's easier to control the horse.
Oh I wish I could sit trot like that or at least have legs that long to help me, my horse has alot of spring in her trot and when your legs barely come 3/4 of the way down her stomach (she is only 14.3h as well) then it is really hard to sit smothly without disturbing the horse.
Correct absorbtion of the movement ;-) My instructor (riding) is an Enlightened Equitation instructor which is based on classical methods and correct absorbtion of the horses movement. Of course a well toned physique and extra long legs dont go amiss either LOL!!
I only had my 1st riding lesson today and it was such a pain coz I was trying to do a sitting trot and before I could I had to collect the horse and it wouldnt listen to me so I didn't get far today. Btw i was riding western.
My horse also has a very bouncy trot, and because i haven't been been riding for a long time, i find it difficult to sit to it. Do you have any tips?

The seat is beautiful but his hands are waaaayyy too high, creating painful tension on the horse's mouth.

You are talking about Classical rding , you then should know NOT to bring your hands so high in a punitive way

I ride a sensitive horse that when you try to sit the trot, she canters! It could be me though!
