My mouth was open whole time when he speaks in Mandarin. Hehehe better than me. I only know my other Chinese dialect - Cantonese but can't really speak Mandarin tho I could pretty well understands it. Weird no?
i dont think mandarin fits gackt's voice. he uses longer syllables most of the time, because thats how japanese is. mandarin is...ano... a 'short language' xD idk a better word. the syllables are shorter. so to me it sounds like he isn't finishing his sentences. but alas, he's perfect as ever ;)

It's in the same group of languages like Polish and Russian so their words are silimar. It's easy to learn russian for polish dudes just like chinese to japs, am I right?^^
Japanese and chinese are completely different as grammar, pronunciation or other language characteristics, though both use chinese characters. As linguistics, japanese doesn't belong to any language groups, but some linguists say that japanese have a little bit same structures with an altaic language, like turkish, korean, mongolian or etc.
So it's easy for Japanese to read chinese, but really hard to learn other parts. I believe Chinese think so, when they learn japanese^^;
I adore gackt, but for some reason, Leehom is the one character from Moon Child I will fangirl over excessively. I don't know much about him, but he really made an impression on me with Moon Child.

@XOSiren18XO That is so true. Like "yes" in Cantonese is 係 (hai) and "yes" in Japanese is はい (hai) except higher tone. My boyfriend was asking something in Japanese and I said "係", then he said "Oh big difference (being sarcastic)".
And like the word "attitude" in Cantonese is "taido" and in Japanese it sounds really similar, but also "taido".

ftw.leehom is my all time favourite artist.and gackt is my fave actor/former vk vocalist.
leehom speaks fluent english mandarin french and conversational cantonese and japanese
you guys should watch moonchild.somtimes gackts chinese is more understandable than leehoms.its sooo cute.
