@idioticatheists Well, if you think you're one to talk about crazies while you have to do with the FSM. Christopher Hitchens is not a good idea to substantiate wikipedia articles with scholarly books. Honestly, Harris shcooled Dr. William Lane Craig.
We are bound by fate Theo. I was sitting in a parking lot "crafting" my novel when I noticed that my laptop found some wireless internet. So I thought, "oh, a good time to check out Theo's new channel". Now here you are. Speaking about crafting novels.
And by the way I have long hair now, which is curly and wet from the storm outside, I'm wearing a loose shirt, the wind beating into the window...and wilted flower sits beside my bloody knuckles on my oak desk.
Well said. I like to see inspiration as just one aspect of craft. While an inspired idea is great, craft begins immediately as you begin putting words to that idea. And best of luck with your writing. What word count are you aiming for?
Well, nanowrimo is 50,000... so, about that. The story I'm going to be telling is pretty small... more of a long short story so I think it'll fit in pretty well.
I suppose I should in all fairness say that because I don't have one, my opinion on the matter is based in ignorance. My mother has one and she's quite talented - she even taught on the MFA level.
With the exception of her, I'm not sure that I ever met an MFA that I believed was really talented. Some of the most vapid people I know have MFAs. Pretentious, boring people - people who don't deserve their cynicism but walk about angry about things like... food.
While I agree with you for the most part I also believe a lot of writers find it challenging to find that balance between inspiration vs. craft. Thats why some writers go a long time in between works because they're trying to find some inspiration to craft and sometimes vice versa. By the way thank you for creating this channel I think it will be very interesting to see how it evolves over time.
I perhaps should, but I don't feel I'm quite talented enough to keep up that sustained output for a month and keep whatever I write about accessible to anyone but myself and those that can overlook the likely grammatical errors that would appear in an event of that nature.

Swap Byron for Beethoven and a few literary terms for musical ones and I could swear it was me speaking.

Are you writing this November?

Yeah. I'm in an MFA program, so I have to. There's this thesis thing I've been hearing a lot about ...

An MFA program! Oh, dear...
Well, I shouldn't say that... do you like it?
ashisownsoul 2 years ago
Sure.
Do you have something against MFAs?
