Muslims are pagan, so are Buddhists, Hindu, etc. So long as you do not follow the christian faith, but still follow some form of faith you are pagan. Atheists are neither pagan nor christian as they are against all standing forms of religion and therefore form their own category. Though if you put an atheist in a hot zone they gain a god quite quickly, haha.
