The Shah was an educated sophisticated man who wanted to bring Iran to modernity, education and freedom. But he had a strong adversary in the soviet Union who wanted to take over Iran and get to the Persian Gulf. As soon as the Islamic republic came to power they gave away most of the Caspian fishing rights to Russia

It's good to be the King. Reza Pahlavi wants his kingdom back, of course he is going to ask for support for of the opposition groups to cause rebellion and destabilize the country. actually he doesn't want his fathers kingdom back, he oppose monarch government and demands full democratic government in iran. You need to read up about this guy before stating such things. You can see several videos here on youtube confirming that, so if you have other sources please share.
