  • Damn its so 80's, thats what i like bout it :)

  • Alex has some great drum parts in this song. I loue the tone he gets from his drums and cymbals.

  • it's not van halen unless it's van hager

  • It's HAGAR

  • When I was in Ottawa, I heard this song on CHEZ 106...and it was this full-length version heard here compared to the shortened version heard on 103.9 K-Rock in Corner Brook, NL, where the first 38 seconds of this song are, sadly, deleted.

  • love this song.

  • your right-the dude from extreme sucked! eddie was definitely wrong about him as a vh lead singer!!!

  • i'm the biggest fan of VH, but i can only listen up to 1:24. then, i fast forward to about 4:04 to end. very cool music.

  • LOL, pussy

  • Great vid!!

  • roth & hagar both had their strong suites, so all of you are right! the singer who totally sucked was the from Extreme that eddie brought in! he was terrrible and couldve literally ruined van halen if the record company wouldve forced eddie to get rid of him! HE WAS A BAD FIT WITH VH! ROTH OR HAGAR worked well with vh, but dude froM extreme needs to stick to his jonas brothers sound & leave van halen alone

  • Bring Mike Anthony back!!!!!

  • this is one of the best van halen songs, nice to see the video, yes mike anthony, mike anthony said it isnt a van halen reuion and its true, eddie's sons great, but cmon, mike!

  • La verdad que un temon que epocas que lo remil pario muchos recuerdos. Varios programas de radio lo usan de cortina a este tema...

  • Van Halen, Van Hagar. The name of the band has never had anything to do with DLR or Sammy. It has always been about the brothers. Do you really think when Sammy became a part of the band He would suggest a different name? The name was known around the world and they were not going to change it. Dave was great, Sammy was great. Forget this crap about who was better. Two entirely different bands from entirely different times. You have to give Sammy credit, He filled some big shoes.

  • true, all i have 2 say is thank god Dave is back in the band lol, now we can go back 2 the way it was always meant 2 be. NEW VAN HALEN ALBUM 2009!!!!!

  • one of the best ways of explaining all this Ive heard anyone say. I agree.. its about the style of music these guys put out that just simply rocked.

    Well done!

  • say what u want guys, but its still Van Hagar lol u guys might not like it but the real Van Halen has David Lee Roth on vocals. Thats not to say that none of the Van Hagar stuff isnt good its just really a different band.

Runnin with the devil and Jump are Van Halen

Dreams and Why cant this be love are Van Hagar

    2 completely different musical directions

I prefer Sammy Hagar solo, and Diamond Dave when he is fronting Van Halen. Just my opinion, just how i feel. u either agree or u dont

  • its not two different bands its van halen with david lee roth and its still called van halen with samy and honestly they should of kept david lee roth instead of samy hagar he writes way too many love songs

  • to shay

  • /agree

  • graandi

  • This is a nice song from one of the finest Van Halen albums. Van Halen was the band who introduced me into hard rock/heavy metal scene. Be it with Dave, Sammy or Gary they rule !! *****

  • bloody good collabiration they sound great if u think otherwise u have no music taste

  • I prefer hagar I know im gonna get smacked hehe!

  • i prefer hagar too =]

  • Hagar is the best

  • guys, this isnt the battle of the bands it just "there music" there not trying to be like or better or whatsoever, there artist and doing there own thing!

  • jimmy paige is talented but he couldnt carry eddie van halen's musical jock!

  • Some songs are there just to give you goosebumps...gutsy...great

  • i like the song, but its still not Van Halen, lets call it for what it is Van Hagar

  • there is two sides to that story

  • I'd love to see a "Battle" like this: The Who vs Led Zep vs Deep Purple vs VH.

Man, now THAT would be worth the price !!

  • my fav song!!!!

  • Battle of the Bands: VH vs Led Zep

    Who wins ??

  • TEN YEARS AFTER WINS

  • jesus van halen will blow them off the face of the earth

  • that's not even a question VH wins obviously led zep sucks compared to VH

  • You know, I agree with you. Led Zep was great in their day, but VH will take no prisoners when it comes to a "Battle of the Bands." Imagine the fight though, put a millions dollars up, I'd bet on this lineup.

  • Why MTV doesn't show music videos like this anymore? now it's full of emo and hip hop shit, they stopped bringing good music and started brainwashing people with shit, so bad new generations are missing this great kind of music, Van Halen rules with both Dave and Sammy!

  • befor i say this i love van halen but what you just said could be used for the metal pop screen back then too

  • But more so with Sammy than Dave! Now, I've just opened a new can of worms! lol

  • love these guys but where is the loyalty to mike anthony?

  • Absolutely awesome. I love 80s music. Van Halen is the best from hard rock. Nobody will ever create such beautiful music and songs.

  • I agree with everyone here; any song today that's about love is sung by some guy who sounds like he's still going through puberty and he's whining about how his girlfriend dumped him. Terrible. I don't care if you prefer Roth over Hagar, but this is real music here.

  • Wunderschön. Einer meiner Lieblingssongs :)

  • this rocks! hip hop sucks, fag-ass rap sucks too. this is a true power song!

  • amen to that van halen (or sometimes called van hagar back in these days) is real rock instead of stupid pop or emo goth death metal

  • Rap should add the letter "C" to their type of whatever. It's Crap. None of those idiots have any talent what so ever but the communities are so desperate to have someone be popular their willing to buy anything and make those talentless idiots rich.

  • your right smackdown; you can't spell c-r-a-p

without r-a-p! this is definitely one of the best van hagar era songs

  • music is like candy, you have to throw away the wRapper

  • this is called fucking talent if you look at any 80's and some 90's bands there voices are good outside of the studio unlike fucking t pain and akon and all them other fagets AMEN

  • translate please. on van halen. You make no sense. Proof read your shit idiot or sober up. You canynt spel wortha sheit.

When you reach this penacle of success then bitch. lilbrker. otherwise shut the fuck up.

  • every thing i spelt is correct so before you try to act cool actually fucking read you fucking retard

  • what was that all about

  • "jbxwiters" you are so fucking right man!!!

now days all the songs talk about the same thing pussy, money, shooting people, and so on...

  • u can not say "all songs" now a days talk about sex and money and shit like tht. thts only the rap songs. there are some great R&B soul, alternative, modern rock songs out there tht acturally have some good lyrics about there life, childhood, love, friends, the future. im only 12 but i kno music its my life. now 70's and 80's are better than the 00's music!

  • 70'S RULE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Music nowadays is shit compared to the 80's era... ppl don't even know this music exists cause they're all brainwashed by much music and mtv...

  • MTV destroyed the whole society in every aspect, not only musical... :S

  • probably my favorite van halen song! love them!

  • I was always a Roth fan but I have started to like Sammy more and more. This is a great song and video and has the guys in top form. Best video save for Jump!

  • I was just thinking that. Sammy does the band right on this song! They both have strong vocals!

  • great song the only thing I didnt like from the van hagar era was the dave bashing war I still like both singers but dave will always be the best frontman and singer will back dave your awsome

  • And Hunkola, I'm not saying that Roth isn't a great front man. He's hell alot better then Hagar(and i mean show man not singer cause Hagar is a 10x better singer than Roth) All I'm trying to say is Eddie is the mastermind behind Van halen. Record sales don't mean shit. And if you don't like Van Hagar then why are you surfing around and watching the videos. Get your head out of your ass

  • I agree that record sales arent the only true mark of a legendary band....which is laughable since you Van Hagar fans always pull out the "more #1 albums with Spammy" bullshit....and Hagar is NOT a better singer than Roth - did Hagar ever win any vocalist awards? I think not. A legendary rock band needs a great musician but also a world-class frontman/showman......just look at Page/Plant, Steve Tyler/Joe Perry, Jagger/Richards, Bon Scott/Young.....and Van Halen had it with David Lee Roth!

  • So if Eddie is the only reason for Van Halen's success......why did Roth-era albums sell 40 million copies in U.S. and Van Hagar-era albums only sell 18 million - even though Van Hagar had the huge benefit of MTV and Top 40 radio to help sell their records?? Just proves how important Diamond Dave was to Van Halen -- he was the image of fun and party in that band, NOT Eddie. Keep in mind that VH's only 10-million+ albums have been with Dave....NOT Spammy! It's pretty clear that Dave wins, douche.

  • Eddie wrote all the music. There would be no Roth without Eddie. And it was the music that brought the party atmosphere not the look. The party atmosphere left when Eddie's style changed and matured. And since when did records sales mean anything? Fucking Linkin Park sold 10 million plus and they fucking suck. Get your head out of your ass.

  • Hey nitz.....if Eddie wrote all the music for Van Roth and Van Hagar.....then why did Van Roth outsell Van Hagar 3 to 1? I guess having a tequila salesman fake-ass frontman didnt hurt, eh?

Also, if Spammy was so great.....why did the 2004 Van Hagar tour fail miserably with most promoters losing money......and yet the 2007-08 Van Roth tour sold out everywhere and broke VH's tour gross record?

People like their rock stars to be authentic like Diamond Dave....Hagar was a Jimmy Buffett clone.

  • Its a fact that Eddie wrote all the music. If you knew anything about Van Halen you would know this. Roth knows nothing about writing music just look at his first release Crazy from the Heat. All it was was covers of crappy Beach Boys songs and lounge music. It wasn't until Steve Vai joined his band that he actually did anything good. Do me a favor and go check and see how many records Roth sold in his solo career compared too Hagar fronted Van Halen.

  • wating on some one to come into focus sounds like fuck us i always thought i t was wating on some one to come in to buckys but that dont make sense sammy was doing some kind of lyric trick tell me it dont sound like fuck us at 2:06

  • man that chick singer is kinda hot...oh wait a minute

  • ...sammy you know who i think is better braTHa..... you rock....and this is one of those songs that i won't ever forget.....it's all you no one can do this like you...dave rocks but you have this all to you forever!!

  • I hate it when Roth fans say they hate Hagar. Let's all agree they're both badass and both made memorable tunes with the VH crew.

  • I dont't intend to start a Sammy v Roth debate,but I think in a REAL head to head(I mean a fight) well it's D.L.R who's left on the canvas.

  • I agree 100%

  • This song brings back memories to me. This is the first time i heard this song in years

  • Awesomoe kick by Sammy in the beginning!!

  • I liked VH during both Roth and Haggar time...Wonderful music came from both times.. would prefer just to enjoy the music given to us... No time for talking which was better... I an happy to have ALL of the music experiences :D

  • this song always puts a smile on my face

  • amazing song

  • es uno de los coros que mas recuerdo con nostalgia,

el otro es el de u2,en pride,in the name of love,... .

  • This some is awesome.

  • Roth-Halen was never a Metal head era: Slayer was metal head era. JEEZ Wake up! NO ONE CALLED DLR A METAL HEAD ERA! ! I still love DLR, AND SAMMY, each had their moments.

  • Sammy rules!!!!David Lee douche was a washed up never was. Sammy's vocals KILL douche's and his songwriting was worlds apart. David Lee douche was a personality with little talent.

  • He was a very good showman but couldn't sing a lick. Talking about David "helmet head".

  • How many of DLR's moves can Sammy try to fit into the intro section?

  • you're forgetting Sammy Hagar was a well established rockstar while david lee roth was learning his times tables in 3rd grade...Sammy had been doing this a long time...he doesn't need to steal anyones moves.

  • is this to much to post for someone ??? - if you just started to love them - this song was it for me as a kid

  • si,fantastico.

  • love this song

  • I still remember buying this cassette the Tuesday following my graduation.Great memories!

  • man forget about the cunt ex wife... It's all about good memories..

  • sammy IS van halen!

  • I'm about to get married, got any advice snoopdot68? You know you don't mean what you said,,,,do you?

  • When it's love, nothin's missin'

  • An American anthem.

  • Not American man, everybody in the world feels it as their own...

  • sammy dances like a fuckin clown, but he can sing

  • Ahh, what a great song. Reminds me of the days when MTV actually played music. Roth was awesome, but Hagar brought so much more to the band.

  • I miss those days

  • agree....!!!!

    Hagar better than david

  • Que grandes!

  • i think we can all agree that super mario 64 rules ass.

  • Ahh memories, I remember driving my car on fall evenings. The windows down, my first true love by my side. This song on the tape player. (yes, tape player, car type Cd players cost over $500 in 1988)I hear this song and I think of those great times. (sniff, goes looking for kleenex)

  • I just soooooooo love this song it reminds of when I lived on the REZ in south Dakota when it came out~~~

  • eddie van halen is a god amongst us mere men

  • really love this song..

  • thanks mcbloomsss-with all Sammy's moves, facial expressions, hand gestures and voice..he's a total performer and an amazing showman! YEAAHHHH!!!!

  • magical band

  • sammy danced and sang his heart out.I love it.

  • Whenever I hear this song I want to have the car windows down and crank it up so that the speakers vibrate!

  • i love this song and i love this Video even though it kinda feels like it's a beer commercial.

  • Still a great song.

  • But you can't say it doesn't have any feeling at all.

  • I simply must agree with fashion7978...

Sammy is BETTER than David...his voice rocks.

Any chance seeing him as the front man again.

Why are we not hearing much of the band these days... Sam Hagar, we miss ya mate...

  • i tell you what it is ,, is the blues man .. listen up and you figure it out ...

  • The blues? Not hardly. The Blues are something you feel. Ask the poor dead black guys who invented it. This has no feeling. This is just cheeze n crackers...no pun intended

  • There is an interview with Guitar World magazine here on YouTube that was taken during the Diver Down Tour, where Eddie blasts Journey for selling out and playing cheezy ballads. What the hell is this Ed?

  • I feel I love this song.

  • I love this song!!! I have loved it since I was 16~ Keep rocking! =)

  • Sammy Hagar is way better & has an amazing and ultimate rock voice than David Roth!

  • This song is epic.

    Period.

    My favorite Van Halen song.

  • Sammy is too cute with his dance moves..he really sung from the heart..and Eddie Van Halen is sooo cute when he scratch his head hahaha! sooo funny! It's either he was confused or just scratchin' his head..I like Sammy Hagar better than David Roth..when Sammy started as frontman with the group-all songs are smash hits! That proves Sammy is better than Roth...VAN HAGAR FOREVER!!!

  • I think both hagar, and roth are both excellent frontmen and van halen rocked with both of them.

  • yeeaaahhhh! my favorite of all time song from the sensational VAN HALEN!

  • i just love this song it does help if u don't know when it's love

  • i remember this on MTV

  • this is a sweet song!! i love how sammy dances around!!! lol

  • Sammy is harder, edgy and downright sexier than Roth ever tried to be. David just came off as a nut job and couldn't enjoy VH back in the day.

  • Once again, I started enjoyng, and loving a lot more Van Halen tunes once Sammy came on board, I like his voice, his stage presence the songs seem to get better too, it just mde more likable for me, especially Sammy's voice, he connects with everyone, not just the women.

  • dude seriously you said everything that i think about Sammy! everything!

i started to appreciate Van Halen when i first heard of "Dreams" dude that song brought memories to me... i thought about all the good times that i had in life... i'm not disrespecting the first singers, but for me Sammy is the true singer!

  • this song "when it's love" is our favorite song by me & my old friend.everytime i heard this song it reminds me the great things and memories we have shared.hahaha thanks Van halen!

  • This track is so powerful and meaningful that you could remove the title and lyrics and you would still know what its about...

  • viva eddie van halen!

  • damn that song kicks ass. except that gay chorus lol

  • hurry get that fat puffy poodle out of that red suit. hahaha. just playing, awsome tune.

  • Even Van Halen's slower songs still rock!

  • If that wasnt a nasty itch- Van Halen scratching his head - during the solo - in a videospot!!

  • I'm 35, but when I hear this song I'm 15 again with my first real girlfriend and with out a care in the world! And now it's my 7 year old sons favorite song! How great is that??????

  • man, so true. i wanna go back to those days.

  • Great song, love it!! 5*****

  • brings me back to the summer of 88 rock on!

  • great summer for music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ah yes, the summer of 88, that was truly a good year, getting laid on the beach, staying out till 5AM, now it's kids and school! No hard partying (just a little though!)

  • The summer of '88 was absolutely killer for music.

  • I agree, this is not van halen...

  • 1988, what a great year, 15 years old, a 30hr job,no rent no bill's, no worry's, just girl's and football............. where does time go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Face it, we are old.

  • Was this like their first video with Hagar...after replacing David Lee Roth????

  • that was a good shit- 80's rulles

  • Please Eddie stay sober, stay alive! You are worth living on this earth!

  • Damn, you just made me cry. What you say i so true!
