His book suck on the issue. Ego is not an issue; it is how one is working with their emotional issue that Ego put in to play. Ego itself is not bad or anything like that. But how one is working with their emotion and how it really works. We as humans play deaf and dumb to our action and we do not know that we are trying to justify our bad habitual habit and Ego can blind us from what we are doing. Sometimes the Ego can miss lead the self and we walk blind on how our action are working.
I have an anger problem. I was raised by an angry, abusive, controlling sexist father. I have bursts of anger for no apparent reason now in my 30s. I dont trust men in general which i know is wrong and am trying to work thru it with God. I hate all forms of social injustice. Sometimes I have fits of rage and fight with people and curse them out. Dont condemn me as the Word says 'Confess your sin one to another.' Im doing it here publicly. Chip Ingram rocks I can so relate to him.
no one's condemning you here and if they do they are wrong for doing so. we are human and we will have troubles in life. i hope you get through your pain. just know that you are NOT alone!!!! :)
Rob Bell say's The Gods aren't angry, apparently Chip thinks they are...LOL Really good stuff though, I like being able to pinpoint places where I need work, and that's a lot of places!
At 8:12 the host refers to Jesus as having gotten angry and even violent, but that is an assumption. The bible does not say that Jesus was angry, nor that his actions were violent. That is man's interpretation, and a justification for so-called "righteous indignation."
We are told to "be angry and sin not." The only place in the bible that there is a reference to Jesus being angry is in Mark 3 when the Pharisees hassle him, and in his anger he turns and heals a man. THAT is our example.
@skitzoscholar It's completely irrelevant how he knows (or whether) the child was 18 months. The point was his anger at an injustice and what he chose to do later with his intense anger. Let's say he was off by 12 months on the age. So what? He was bothered by his anger, and had to figure out what to do with it.
He rightly defends his anger, but does not defend his action. It *was* different because he was lashing out at abuse — though he never defends his lashing out.

Classic? How did he know the baby was 18 teens months? Wouldn't she be too scared to tell him after he told her he would deck her?
How is the fear chip installed in the woman different from the fear she install in the child?

its different because the kid is truly helpless, because the kid could have been hurt badly, because she is an adult who should know better.
there are probably tons of other reasons, but I can't think of any. your argument is weak imo.
