These are just a tiny fraction of the inconsistencies in the Bible. It's like the Bible has multiple personality disorder or something and can't agree on what the hell it's saying.

The movement revolving around catholic church and fascism was called "clerofascism". Religion isn't necessarily a bad thing. It depends on how it is interpreted. I was raised Catholic (now agnostic) and the elements that were always emphasized were moral values, love for fellow man and acceptance not the gibberish and intolerance spoken off by religious fanatics.

It's that the inter-relations between all species is more complex than a simple tree model. Needs more branches and re-joining trunks and gene-trading dashed lines.This isn't some new realization within science either. It's just trickled down to the mainstream press finally. Darwin was wrong; he didn't know about DNA or plasmids.

In fact, you pointed out to one of his most irrelevant comments... it only confirms gods are like fashion, they come and go and can be out of season. The Bible has changed so much it is even hard to describe the christian god.

As far as I know, in the US you have "freedom of religion" (accoding to the constitution, right?) so if you're asking me "why is religion held on such an "untouchable" pedestal" first tell me WHICH religion is on a "pedestal"? Islam? Judaism? Catholicism? Hinduism?

In Europe I doubt that anyone still believes in Apollo or Zeus, but certainly some ppl believe in the ancient Celtic Religion, as much as Druidism was recently recognized as a practiced religion in the UK. Maybe next is Paganism or the Viking Sagas!

Im a Christian and still find Oreilly's behavior embarassing. There is obviously only one truth. Something can't be both true and false. Relativists say "Whats true for you isnt necessarily true for me" but there are some truths that apply to everyone. Truth(at least when it comes to spiritual matters) cannot be one thing and something else at the same time it is objective regardless of what we believe. If we believe trucks dont exist good luck stepping in front of a semi.

@BlueBlueFeelin Because the arguments he makes are not well thought out or logical, especially when compared to some more prestigious atheists and philosophers. There are philosophers who refused to endorse his book because it was so poorly executed.
There are some great arguments against God, but Dawkins does not make them.

Dawkins is intelligent - far more than most television presenters - but i think he is still OVER-RATED. Like his god Dawkins, he says nothing new - just finds a more sensational way of presenting it to today's audience. His arguments are good but not infallible, and he does at times contradict himself.

Hitler wasn't an atheist - he was a christian - there was even a special church system in germany tied to the fascist regime. The same was in Italy or Nazi Slovakia. The movement revolving around catholic church and fascism was called "clerofascism". It's kinda sad, but the catholic church cooperated a lot with both Hitler and Mussolini and it was with Mussolini at power, when the Lateran treaty was signed, recognising full sovereignty of Vatican and making it an independent country.

He flat out says, "I don't know if Jesus was god but I'm throwing in with the Christians." Not very confident in his argument and rightly-fully so. I'll give him that much credit. At least he realizes that god might not exist. But w/e. I don't believe much of what o'rielly says is sincere anyway, so I don't want to dissect his words too much.
