  • IMO, no doubt that they know about us if we're able to know about them, we're seeing planets light-years away. There's a possibility that evolution has already taken place and technology is apparent?

  • I'll kill my self before I go into space

  • found a third planet similar has earth but no specification of life.i wanna know if there life.damnnnnnnnnnnnnn .

  • OMG lol danb18c is thick you were ALOT closer its the speed of light = 670 616 629 mph both out by alot but you were closer the speed of light is VERY fast ...btw im not a profesional i just put it in on google lol and it came up with this :)

  • It's Krypton.

  • To all members interested in the study of Astronomy, feel free to leave me your knowledge & thoughts pertaining to any Cosmic body in the universe. Such as stars, molecular clouds, black holes, gamma ray bursts & so forth.Thank You & Live Long & Prosper

  • To all members interested in Astronomy, feel free to drop me a message in my inbox & tell me your knowledge pertaining to thR

  • Is a pure coward, &not my intentions I have not directed any derogatory comments to you Dan.Just saying not many people care about the study of astronomy;different types of galaxies, variations of stars, theoretical topics as multiverse, black holes, where does the matter that the black holes consume? I think that it may be possible that the matter black holes consume create new universes; a theory of mine.Dan I am always looking for like-minds to talk to about the universe. Peace

  • To Dan18c: Dan I have done research & the study of astronomy for 8 years now. I made a error as light speed is measured 186,000 miles per second & 671 million miles per hour, Dan don't assume & undermine my intelligence, knowledge & It would be polite & professional to correct my error with respect instead of correcting my error with no-respect. Not trying to argue via online like some punk whom talks tough via online through online gaming is a

  • Light speed is also measured by miles per hour

  • Astronomy is a hobby of mine Dan,so excuse me If I make a error; how about correcting with respect

  • Fail.....like I don't have my Masters Degree as a C.N.A & make over a 100,000 a year.......Pass

  • Excuse me Dan, my mistake or error on the actual exact light speed. Glad to see your laughing your a** off......because I got the wrong speed; glad I can make you laugh.

  • nice this is so awesome one day it could be in reach.

  • cool! :D

  • it's ironic that the key to all the answers of the universe "more like multiverse" will most likely be found by exploring the ultra tiny..

  • @lmos26 ultra tiny ....? ...toillet papper :-)...joke

  • Hi ! Maybe stupid question?, laughing allowed:-)

Does we (from the Earth) See the "Star", who fell down..lets say 300 years ago,and was(is) on distance 600 years...

If ,when we are looking at the stars, are looking to the past time,

do we see than ,also the/those Stars, who doesn't exsist, now -where they once ware ???

    sorry for confused language

  • @MrLoginto to put it in other words, if our Sun instantly "went out" and if you happened to look up at that very moment, the sun would appear to there as it normally is and burning brightly, it would take 8 minutes until you would actually see the sun "go out"

  • @MrLoginto if you really want to twist your mind then read about how some partials "behave" in quantum mechanics. for example the same partial existing simultaneously in 2 places at once or how they seem to appear out of nowhere and then vanish in the same fashion. this is where time get really strange and extra dimensions become very possible and likely

  • @lmos26 @lmos26 Thaks for reply Imos26! Seem like nothing is like it seems arround us...not sure if I can brain that far...you said if earth is viewed from 27milion light years away, that person there at the other side woud see dinos:-),you mean at this wery moment !? So, the twinkl sky star that we see now-its "picture" doesn't seem to correspodent "reality", and the partials you talk about are part of what? One big brain:-)...thaughts...maybe universe is-behaving brain alike:-)) Cute squirell

  • @MrLoginto particles are electrons protons and neutrons then you have the subatomic particles: quarks...strange quarks etc. I recommend watching Cosmic Journeys: How Large is the Universe? "just copy and paste that in the youtube search, this program does a very good job at explaining the kinds of questons your asking in laymans term that any average joe can understand. "some people avoid it all together because they think you need to be Einstein to understand it which is of course not true

  • In my opinion it's a simple and obvious calculation that from our star alone which contains planets of many different compositions and sizes tells me that of the trillions upon trillions of stars in what can see in the observable universe will contain 10 times that amount in planets. It may even be possible that what we call the observable universe is to the complete universe as the observable universe is to an atom.

  • Quantum computing will give us enough computing power to take us to the heavens. Moore's law will break down by 2020, at the present (just days ago in fact) we are making leaps and bounds with quantum computing. Soon we will have the computing power seemingly eons above todays technology. Maybe 15-20 years, life and the cosmos will be VERY different. Is time travel possible? Light speed? Faster than light? Stay tuned :).

  • We need to start digging on mars...See if we can find some sort of...transportation device that warps you past light speed, ya know? Call it... "queue theme song" MASS EFFECT. No but really, I find this beautiful.

  • You just told me that Galaxies move away from each other? How can they crash into each other if one another is moving away from each other? Do you get my writing?? Listen!!!

  • water may be NECESSARY for life (as we know it) but that far from guarantees that there is life, there are MANY factors for life and water is just ONE of them.

  • @Zurround100 But it's entirely possibly life can form with chemicals other than just water and carbon. We used to think that life needed sunlight to live, and we found out we were wrong about that. So perhaps we are wrong about other requirements for life.

  • the only way we can get there is through the wormhole (blackhole)

  • Anyone intersted in spacey stuff, check out Carl Sagan's Cosmos episodes, they are all on youtube. He'll explain how time actually slows down when travelling near the speed of light so reaching planets many light years away could be possible, although when you get back many years have passed...Earth could very well be swallowed up in a red giant. Buuuuut, if you could somehow take a shortcut through the 4th dimension, a black hole for instance...yea he'll explain it for you.

  • Is it just me or is light WAY too slow?

  • @C63AMGestate its just you, the other stars are just WAY too far

  • @AriqoFlip We need to find a way to bend Einstein's laws.

  • Haha typo, it's 186 000 m/s, how ironic.

Per hour it's 680 million miles.

Yes, I have checked Andromeda out, though the conditions were not supportive or great.

I love astronomy, although I'm only an amateur.

Ah, the infamous Nibiru; it doesn't exist, it's pseudoscience. It has been proved false. Some lady made the assumption that she can talk to aliens and that a planet was going to collide with Earth, early this millennium, 2012 I think.

  • El, bright mind man, my mistake but you must like study of Astronomy & have you heard of planet Niburo?

  • To: ElDuorPaso,I have the Andremoda Galaxy with my telescope out in the woods and it's amazing ElDuorPaso; I assume you have viewed with a telescope also. You have a bright man mind El as, maybe it's 686,000 mph i was thinking El

  • hmmm...,even if there is a life there, how are we going to get there...

    that's 20 light years..

  • only 20 light years! how can anyone see a photo of a galaxy and think earth is still special!

  • How about all the species of life on Earth from micro to macro and all the extinct species of life that roamed our planet millions of years ago to currently. If life is abundant on Earth then in my OPINION its abundant not only in our Milky Way Galaxy but the entire Universe. They nearest Galaxy to our own, other than a small dwarf galaxy 20 light years is the Andromeda Galaxy at 2,500,000 light years distance;travel at 686,000 miles per second (light speed) you get there in 2,500,000 years.

  • @B3nzolino

Light speed is 180 000 m/s. However don't worry the distance is only shortening. Which means our galaxy is going to collide with Andromeda, you can already see it in the night sky with the naked eye.

But I agree, there is definitely life else where, whatever form it is.

  • @B3nzolino

Αctually, if you travel in near-to-light speeds (according to Einstein's Theory Of Relativity and it's equations), time will accelerate. So the distance will still (...probably...) be the same ('cause the term "light year" does not indicate low fats, but rather distance), yet time will (for the observers on Earth, say) be at about half, or even, one 3rd of the given distance. So in theory, and relatively speaking, "you'll be there" in...just about 1,000,000 years.

  • @B3nzolino Were gonna need a faster boat.

  • @B3nzolino Heheh-ehh.... fuck that it's space bending time.

  • @B3nzolino time dilation, that's all i have to say about that

  • @B3nzolino LMFAO (light speed) is 186,000 miles per second. fail!

  • Comment removed

  • OMG DOUBLE FAIL its 670 616 629 miles per hour. Dont beliveve me? search this in google "light speed in miles per hour" Get your facts right before you try to make someone else looks stupid lmfao

  • No way out man Asian women lushfmlk.info

  • low mass, low gravity, VERY TALL AND SKINNY ALIENS

  • This is very exciting. It would be great to try and study this planet some more. Maybe we could send a probe one day. If there is life, I doubt it will be intelligent (that is, intelligent enough to send signals into space), for we may have had already detected them, since it seems to be so close to us.

  • @BanJobe1 It said in the very beginning it is 20 light years away! that means even if we could travel the speed of light, which according to Einsteins relativity theory is impossible, (E=mc^2) it would still take 20 years to get there. remember light travels at, or 186,000 miles PER SECOND! The last thing we need to think about is sending a probe there.

  • i wonder what is the technology level of people living on that planet is. maybe they're sapient roaches.

  • aren;t the red dwarves the closest suns to imploding into black-holes?

  • This Earth - Like Planet is called Gliese 581

  • this guy was tellin me they found another one in the goldilocks zone. if theyre in the red dwarfs, why bother?

  • @kangerss yeah why are all the humans in avatar american? that must be one fucked up future (see above for large pointless argument)

  • @ClinicallyObeseMule why do you think all Americans are the same? most of us are not how you seem to view us. I dont stereo-type other people, and i dont think its right for you to stereotype us. in avatar, in my opinion the director/writer was making a very anti-American statement anyway, that we are power-hungrey and will destroy anything or anyone to get what we want. But even if that was true, those are the people in power. i guarentee when my generation hits 18 everything WILL change.

  • @tayban93 there is a steriotipes alot of em in fact.. but i steriotype people not nations

  • @tayban93 fucked up because everyone else seems to diappear, not anti-american, except this film seems to be full of twats :)

  • wow wtf haha wass dat a half alien facee on minute 354

  • for a start travelling to a star only 20 light years away would take thousands of years, so dont go thinking you might one day get a glimpse of a world like that!!

  • @dolmioSLIDE What if we can just beam over there 20 years from now? The screen you are reading this on, was pure science fiction 15 years ago my friend. Just because the capability does not exist today, does not mean it won't exist.

When I was a kid, I never thought we'd land a vehicle on Mars in my lifetime.

Who knows? The next new discovery or invention can change everything.

What were the odds that you and I would ever be discussing anything with each other 16 years ago?

  • Scientist have collected way too much info for our technology not to have already landed there. So it's not that far people. Telescopes don't transmit weather. Cant wait to learn more.

  • the reason fr us to have another planet would be that mankind may have another chance and lessons chance of humanity being wiped out

  • Sounds like they're talking about Gleise 581g.

  • Did he say it's a Hockey planet? Now how cool is that? We MUST go there! Send the Blackhawks! We'll see how much of hockey planet they are.

  • I just hope they don't name it "New Earth" or something. Scientists are not particularly known for coming up with good names for stuff. I read somewhere that one of the scientists who helped discover this planet wants to name it after his wife. Zarmina. Now that works... Zarmina. Ya, that could be a planet name. Cool.

  • @wohhydra Ya, I recently heard something like this, and heard it was to be called "Earth 2," but I don't know how accurate that is...

  • If we can solve the ancient mystery of what causes gravity, who knows? The furthest reaches of the known universe today might be just a few hours drive with anti-gravity thrust engines. If there is one thing we homosapiens have proven, it is that nothing is beyond our capability when it comes to science, engineering, and technology. If we can dream it, we can do it.

Homosapiens began as Nomads. We still are. We should begin plans to colonize Gliese 581c immediately.

  • IT WILL BE JUST LIKE THE MOVIE AVATAR

STOP THE US FROM FARMING UNOBTAINIUM

  • 20 lightyears X 300000km/seg X 3600seg/hour X 24hour/day X 365.25 day/ year= 7889400000000km!!!!. if u go to this world at light speed u will arrive in 20 years

  • It has no moon to agitate the water.

The only thing that can survive stale water are Betta Fish.

  • how much is 20 lightyears?

  • @86coffeemaker lol by the time people can travel to that planet we'll probably be old or dead.

  • I cant wait to bang hot alien women

  • @86coffeemaker 3 titties... mmmm

  • Course we deserve more planets to inhabit.

Right of conquest and all that.

  • How about we become civilized and learn to love this planet before we go trying to inhabit other life forms planets. Research the Venus Project or the Zeitgeist Movement, we can make our home better for all our poeple. Also consider if there is no gravity in space then light speed wouldn't cause the same forces as it would where gravity is present.

  • @danz177 gravity is present everywhere its just strong and weak light speed is based on a vacum where c is the constant so the speed of light would not change unless the is a distortion in the fabric of space no yet known mass can distort the fabric of space so light speed is unaffected by the strenght of gravity

  • @fdr100100 SWEET!

  • @fdr100100 Wasn't an issue raised recently that suggested the speed of light is not constant, at the same time as suggesting Einstein merely assumed it was to complete his study of the theory of relativity.

  • wait why does everyone say it was discovered in different places. Ive heard like 10 different ones.

  • tham this is 3 years old i tought this shit was new

  • It gives great hope, But do we deserve another planet to destroy?

This is one of the best youtube flims ive seen in relation to science and non fiction.

Also interesting about the method used to find it. there may well be more even closer.

  • scientist say if you travel at the speed of light you will rip up

but there's a theory that if you create a black hole here and one there you can travel right through (i think it was a black hole anyway, either that or something else)

but i think this proves there's other life, if it's habbitable there must be something on it

  • hockey planet? im down

  • hockey planet?

  • 1:02 - 1:12 was informative

  • first of all even if we do discover light speed we wou.ld need to figure out how to prevent ourselves frum falling off cuz light speed is relli rellki fast if u didnt notice and safety should be taken or else u dunt want to be the one falling off in the begginning of the joruney of light speed and dieing in the middle of nowhere in space haha

  • I want to be the first man to drill for oil there!

So if the planet is 5 times the mass of Earth does that mean the gravity will be 5 times, too? A 100 pound person on Earth would feel like they weighed 500 pounds on this planet?

  • we havent change, we need maybe a thousand f years 2 be clever enought 2 make r find how to travel at da speed light. well lets just wait

  • mymarkis666 longevity runs in my family I will be alive in forty years most likely BUT almost certainly both of us AND any children we may have will be dead before alien life is discovered, our GRAND children might get lucky.

  • If circumstances were PERFECT, and "perfect" circumstances means there is an alien race at least as tech advanced as us that can communicate with radio technology then if we sent them a message and they responded immediately it would take FORTY YEARS to get a response. Being that my entire life is only 37 years I cannot comprehend waiting forty years for a response.

  • @Zurround100 Bad luck for you son but I'm 20 years old and I'll be waiting for that response.

  • I hope and pray that humans will only be able to look, but not touch.

  • @mcmchugh99 aww it sounds like someone needs a hug

  • @plummerbubba No, but I have good reason to believe that looking is all we will be allowed to do for quite some time, until it is decided that we are advanced enough to go out there.

  • I'm the 100000 vieuwer

  • Space flight will probably involve some kind of manipulation of space time to get to a location rather than actually traveling there directly.

  • @Gman256 Exactly, bending time-space better known as warp speed.

  • The fastest unmanned spacecraft to date is Helios II at 44 miles per second! Compared to light speed which is 186,000 miles per second -_-

  • "Only twenty light years away".... WOW that's not far at all dumbass astronomers... let me know when you invent a space ship that can travel at light speed ok?

  • why not point our satellites in that direction and listen.

  • @Detoxhurb it would take more than 300 000 years for the signals from that planet to even reach us, and then maybe its not even life

  • @Fredrich1337 its just 20 light years so a laser pulse would reach there in 20 years. its like backyard in interstellar distances. that said this one is a red dwarf which means it will survive tens of times the total life of the sun. some red dwarfs are almost as old as our galaxy and still burning. so the planet has ample time to generate life hopefully.

  • be joyful and excited my brothers! time has arrived!

we found another victim!!! send in the suv`s first!! it will keep it distracted from the plastic and used tires surprise attack!!! if our intentions are spotted early, we will send "global warming is a lie" intelectuals!!!!! it has no chance!! to victory!!!!!!

(could someone think of a proper warcry for the cause? thanks)

  • bush is going to participate for Election on that earth like planet

  • I'm telling ya, Spice is the answer: the answer is the Spice.

  • i can go live out there but only if there's a pizza hut there ..

  • Haha...only 20 light years from us. why even bother when you cant send a prob there in our life time.

  • @dasautomega if youve seen the documentary that they had on the discouvery channel theyll know in 2012 if there is life on this planet.... checker out

  • @jbjolly6 what you need to check out is the meaning of 20 light years first.

  • @dasautomega lol why? there going to know whats on the planet... so.... check the meaning of "knowing in 2 years" i guess. theres a probe already in space that will pass by in the year 2012... check the facts sir

  • @jbjolly6 probes that have already travelled 20 light years? That means they developed and launched a probe that can travel at the speed of light 20 years ago! Wow, dude thats some serious information only you know,Haha.....

  • @dasautomega ahaha.... man do your research there was a probe sent out 20 years ago... more actually. im not the only one who knows just the only one that does his research apparently.

  • @jbjolly6 LOL you are very confused. Yes there are probes 30 years old. But none can travel at the speed of light. Try and get that in your head, 'NONE'. And stop spreading lies that a probe will pass the planet in 2012. There is no probe even 2 light years away from earth. so how will it pass by there in 2012?

  • @dasautomega LOL and it doesnt need to travel at the speed of light 20 years ago... its just going to be close enough to take a solid picture... open your mind a little man

  • @jbjolly6 stop dreaming. 20 light years is 200 trillion kilometres. We can barely take a solid decent picture of pluto which is 5.91 billion kilometres on average. dont forget 1000 billion equals 1 trillion. now imagine 200 trillion. But dont worry, your fictitious probe will fly by in 2012. good luck. P.S. stop watching that fake made in china discovery channel. Go subscribe to the genuine discovery channel.

  • @dasautomega ahahah jesus youre a dick, i know what i saw.... im guessing youre american, explains where the douch bag comments come from... just relax and look it up. i may be wrong with the probe but i am 100% positive that they will know if theres anything on that planet. just relax

  • @jbjolly6 You seem to be someone who assumes too much. I'm not american and if you used your ears when watching the video, you would have learnt there isn't anyway to detecting life on that planet or take a picture. They can't even see the planet itself 2:38-3:55 minutes. They can only detect there is an object revolving around the red dwarf star of a certain size. so no pictures you dreamer. Your small mind has refused to understand what 20 light years means. The numbers are to big for it,lol.

  • @dasautomega lol distance has absolutely nothing to do with not being able to take a picture of it.

  • @LoveTheWayYourLie distance and lighting will definately affect the quality of a picture. Thats until your mum came along.

  • @LoveTheWayYourLie Well, while it is true that distance will affect quality, that's not what I was talking about. You said "Your small mind has refused to understand what 20 light years means. The numbers are to big for it,lol" . The numbers are not at all too big, in fact, that is a very small distance, and a picture from that far away would be no problem. Its that the star is too bright, while the planet is dim and small.

  • I just want leave...

  • lets start packing

  • i highly doubt they will ever get man on other planets they simply wouldnt survive the amount of g force that traveling at the speed of light would take . fighter pilots can barely do 9 gs and at the speed of light its 100+ gs no way !

  • @pacora24 When traveling at any constant speed, there are no gs. It is the acceleration or deceleration where you get gs. If we could more slowly accelerate to the speed of light (taking months or years, but worth it) then the gs wouldn't matter. The problem is that the closer an object gets to the speed of light the more massive it becomes. E=mc^2. So the faster you go, the more Force you need to accelerate. Basically Gs are not the problem.

  • how about learning first how to travel at the speed of darkness.. which is a lot faster than light

  • Why Should we get another planet? We already can't work together on this planet. What makes you think a new planet will help, Thats worse! And we garbaged up earth, were just gonna garbage up This planet to!! We don't desevre antother planet!

  • @AblueTux

your total right, if we colonize other planets we are going to mess them up just like earth lol.

  • @AblueTux yh we do its like if you accidently cut ur willy off and you need a new one

  • @AblueTux

    LOL really?

  • @AblueTux We do not own that planet neither that we can enter that planet because we dont have the technology to do so.Entering that planet will cause a intergalactic war were we dont not know their current technological level...Maybe technology many times more advance than us..

  • @3rdInnocence or many times lower

  • @3rdInnocence u dont even know if there is life on it yet

  • @3rdInnocence what if we just go there to do there work that they don't want to do like mexicans are doing in the US do you think the aliens would still shoot at us? maybe we should shoot our aliens LOL

  • @3rdInnocence but what if we're more advance than theirs?

  • @3rdInnocence maybe no animals at all

  • @3rdInnocence Or many times inferior to ours.

  • @AblueTux Your wrong... we need to bring there soviets and conqear it.. lol im serious one big red army with planet and no other nations would destroy the galaxy xD

  • @AblueTux god damn hippie! get outta here! :P

Anyway, we need new planet since ours is dying because of us. Humans are the rodents of galaxy. cept we also try to restore.

  • @Otakahunt Well first of all rodent, We don't even know if life is on that planets A.K.A stuff that could kill the human race retard, And also if there is life on that planet...We don't know there technology level, It Could be way more advanced!

  • @AblueTux or germs retard*

  • @AblueTux I wasnt serious bout you "hippie", but arent we kinda rodent? just think about it before shouting "omg im no rodent im a human"......

first, global warming, most people dont believe in it but the truth is storms are getting harder and we are making toxic smokes and destroying forests all the time, it sure is killing the atmosphere so if im right and our planet becomes unhabitable we are rodents.

We dont even know of what is the other life made of ;) We only know OUR life incredients

  • @Otakahunt You got a point about life, and the mystery of what else it can be made of. But I believe you are wrong about the planet. Yes we have polluted it to an unacceptable degree, but through a scientific view, I can say the earth has been in much worse positions before, and I bet our planet will still be here long after we are gone.

  • @AblueTux Amen I agree with you but its proper people like you and I deserving of a new chance

  • @AblueTux the rich n powerful r goin to ditch to the planet unless u caan afrord it we saying on this crap hole

  • @AblueTux I wouldnt go as far as to say we have ruined the planet. Yea shit is fucked up thanks to us, but i bet our planet will still be here long after we are gone. There is also still good in humanity, yet people tend to forget this.

  • i like how the old man talks kinda funny

  • so can we use an abacus for measuring ?

  • Picture this:

In the year 4000, humanity (still thriving somehow) has just developed the capacity for rapid interstellar travel. They send a team of explorers to this planet, who find a huge network of what appear to be empty cities, streets and towns. The explorers manage to find a lone human-like skeleton and carbon date it only to find that it had died a year ago.

    That would SUCK.

  • @TheREALNards3000 lol owned

  • this maybe the GOD create the new super earth out of our solar system.

    read this in bible.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had PASSED AWAY. Also there was no more sea. (Revelation 21:1)

  • metropatent . com /

  • beam me Scotty !!

  • @newcruiser :))

  • Surprise that they didn't mention that an American found the planet. lol FAIL FOR AMERICA!!!

  • the fact that we found a planet with the possibility of life is outstanding... stfu about its distance what the hell does that matter... THERE IS LIFE OUT THERE... sure getting there is out of our reach for our current technology.. but that does not mean that this is not one of the most outstanding finds of this decade... anyone that disagrees still believes the earth is flat and the sun revolves around us and gravity is a hoax... I BELIEVE LIFE IS OUT THERE.

  • I wonder if it has an Ikea

  • oh only 20 light years away..just a walk in the park.

  • Where is this planet?

  • @MkRainClubpenguin 20 bilion years of our solarsistem

  • @Auslander999

    Shaiiiiiiiiiiiiii--huluuuu d

  • @Auslander999

I've folded space, traveling without moving...
