Christmas is a pagan, Roman, Greek holiday hijacked by early christians to help convert people. It was made official by pope Juliuis I in 4th century CE. Jesus wasn't even born on Dec. 25. According to most historians it was in September but no one really knows since its not even in the bible.

if its not about religion and all about just wishing people well on the holidays, then why dont christians say "happy hanukkah"? that is also wishing people well, but christians cant accept it unless it is their religious greeting.
@AceofDiamonds0 Au contraire. I have Jewish friends, and I wish them Happy Chanukka (which is how it's supposed to be spelled, by the way).
That aside, Christmas IS about religion. But in the times this guy refers to, people's response was not based on the religion so much as the spirit of the words. For example, I have had people get offended when I tell them "I'll pray for you" upon hearing about some crisis in their life. It makes no sense that they should; even ig they believe prayer...
@AceofDiamonds0 ...is futile, what does that leave? The simple fact that, incapable as I am of directly helping them in their time of need, I am concerned for their well being and want to do something which, at the very least, I believe may help them. No rational person could possibly be offended by that, yet they are. That's the kind of mindset people who are offended by "Merry Christmas" seem to have.
the thing about saying "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas" is that happy holidays is a term that you can say to anyone regardless of religion. and i do not understand why christians get offended about happy holidays, like somehow it doesnt include christmas.
its like the people who get offened at happy holidays want it just to be about their holiday. that christians want the holidays to be specifically about christmas and not any other religious celebrations.
@AceofDiamonds0 Ah, but when students are pushed into secularism against their will (I speak from experience), actively bullied by both peers and teachers, "happy holidays" becomes more than a blanket term (which has less meaning to begin with). It's a problem. In fact, as it's perpetrated by a lot of people, it's a literal crime.
Even more so, the push for secularism (e.g. town refusing to or being intimidated out of the public display of manger scenes and the like) is an active war...
@AceofDiamonds0 ,,,against Christianity. Groups like the ACLU are actively trying, as we speak, to banish even private individuals' right to publicly display or express religion.
