you really think legal documents have anything to do with the land? the farmers have destroyed this land and are too greedy to care. of course the Indians are gonna be pissed off. Brazil has been on the face of the earth longer than humans, i believe. it's technically no one's land, but humans have the bad habit to claim everything they see.
It's funny to see how Brazilian people are ashamed about their poor Indians compatriots... In fact, one thing that Brazilian middle-class does not like is POOR people.
But what could you expect from someone that lives with Veja and Rede Globo ?
They're native enough to be reaping Brazilian commerce (look at the modern clothing on some of them). You can't blame someone now for owning the land that someone hundreds of years ago "stole," especially if sacred land is for everyone, then farmers should be allowed to use it.
this is the same theme where ever the europians go. they destroy the native habitat; plants, animals, and people. it happened it the americas, australia, south africa, and others. if they would only keep their greedy asses on the land God made for them and leave others, the world would be a better place. "we have deeds for these lands," fuck that!!. who gives a damn about some legal document when they have no regard for the laws, except when it favours them. fuck them..greedy inhumane bastards.
Do not fool yourselves, they are not genuine indian.. they are just regular brazilian people.. with a high percetage of native blood. But their habits and culture is long gone (unfortunatly). They aren't that sort of thing you watch on discover channel such as yanomamis. Most of brazilian population is mixed, and so are they. They don't deserve poverty, of course, but they are not that romantic idea of naked indians living in peace in some paradisiac jungle.
@tortelli True, I agree I am brazilian and I have visited many states with big populations of native Brazilian. From what I saw they are no longer what their ancestral were. Unfortunately years of bad policies by brazilian government have destroyed their culture.
@tortelli most are real indians.their tradition looks like african traditions to me. anywho it is also obvious that the ones who own those huge pieces of land always have a significant amount of european blood. the portugues f.ucked these up
sorry to disappoint you, but would you call me european just because I have european ancestry? not at all, I'm brazilian, and thats it. My culture is way different from my great grandparents'. They sure look indian though, in front of a camera they do their best to dress up as one, but you turn your back on them, they are just like any average poor brazilian. That is definetly NOT an "avatar" situation.
To think that native people never had wars over land is a joke all people through history have fought for land they claim belongs to them unfortunately nature dictates that the strong survive.
As you see these natives have no idea what to do with the land they have and are starving where as the farmers are feeding you and me.
He WORKED to buy that piece of land, he didn't steal it. He isn't te guilty, this thing about making farmers the evil part of society is false, they are people who work hard to buy their lands.
If those indians think they have the right to claim that land, may the appeal to Supreme Court,as every brazillian would do, couse invading others property is a CRIME, and they should be arrested for doing so.If they are brazillians, tey should be treated as so
There is no solution. Two competing ideologies that are mutually exclusive - only one can survive and it probably won't be the Indians. They as a people may survive but their culture won't.
I can't remember too many reports in the equator, as this location is below the equator. These are all independent people who submit films. If you are interested in doing a documentary on any location, maybe they will accept your submission for consideration. They have done several stories on Asia. Look at the "more" section, they just did 2 stories on Timor and 1 on Hong Kong. Even got a story on Poland, which I am sure is not one the equator.
kinda sounds like what colonists imposed on american indians. I kinda wish Indians won, their perception of land ownership is much better than colonialists who raped, killed and pillaged.
it still doesn't matter because Europeans demarcated the areas between Brazil and Paraguay.. so what the Brazilian government perceives as a border my run straight through the Guarani ancestral lands, regardless of which colonial language the chief is most fluent. the bottom line is, these are the lands of their ancestors. It is rather unfair of capitalists to regard inheritance in their own dealings but disregard it when it pertains to indigenous peoples..
I agree with carlospfontes, on that border they speak a mixed dialect that also includes portuguese,Spanish, indigenous as well as a bit of Italian and german because the settlers were Italians in very large numbers. It can be hard for native brazilians to understand certain regions dialect.
They're on the border of Uruguay and Brasil, that's probably why. They probably speak both Spanish and Portugese there with a mix of the indigenous languages.
Indios burros. O governo já dá um monte de terra para eles de graça, não cobra impostos e dá comida de graça mas eles nunca param de reclamar.

"we had won because god helped us"
these aren't true natives, they act it but they aren't, they've already been brought over, might as well join the community.
Not to say i don't believe they own that land, but to see him say "god".

I understand portugues very well, the chief is not native from Brazil, he seems tobe from a country were the spanish is the main language!

This is a border region, so it is normal the natives cross to Paraguay. They actually speak their on dialect and a bit of Portuguese and Spanish.
Another great video about this subject is this one:

@trevycoley83 o yeaaaa ok but they speak spanish in brazil too nd its the same language just a lil diff
Jesse1Zionist 1 year ago
NO!
In Brazil there is not a single town who speaks spanish!
There are immigrantes rom the border countries that speak it, but Brazil as a whole, is PORTUGUESE.
Avoid saying things you think, you're probally wrong, stick with the ones you are certain of.
