  • Tamarack it looks like. Big for that spot. Gets big and rideable on a nice south swell. I'd say 12ft, maybe 16ft on that set behind the rocks at :22 seconds. Fun beach to ride when it's not closed out.

  • what the fuck are you on

  • Just stating my opinion.

    And what are you on?

  • 16ft.

  • My guess is they were between the north and south inlets for the power plant, looking south. A rough trangulation from the beach, over the rocks, to the wave in back seems like a wave of 16ft. the rocks are usually at least 8ft above the water, and the wave is cresting so you can see it over the top of the rocks. At 00:22 you can see a srufer paddling into the wave. I go by the 'body parts' method of wave measurement. I would say a it's ways more than double overhead, though not really triple.

  • ok dont believe me. but if you could see it for yourself around winter time.. :)

  • 50 ft? maybe 12

  • i live in carlsbad and surf there all the time that day was probably on big wendsday and it was like 7 to 9 ft

  • are you sure they arent 50ft???

  • yes trust me i live there on the beach i know what surf is

  • gee man I dont know...one of my buddies over here just said 60 feet. But I think thats a bit much...they might be 50foot sets.

  • dude im sorry but it doesnt even get that big in hawaii

  • those waves were about 50 feet high.

  • it was 16ft maxed on the day of the biggest swell nice try 50ft

  • The waves were between 40 and 60 feet that day!

  • The way that woman is reacting, it is definitely a possibility. The surf in Carlsbad is getting more and more dangerous each year. Rogue wave city!
