  • I totally thought the white part man thing was gonna jump up any minute

  • Would you be able to tell me what composition or material is used in the a gel wrist rest for a mouse pad? its properties appear to be like a harden gel/jello substance, it also appear to have some sort of sticky properties to it even when you cut through it, I am conducting an experiment but before I do i would like to know what this gel like substance is and How would I be able to make it if possible thanks can you helps? thanks

  • @KRYSISJAG I have no idea what the formula is for silicone gel in mouse pads and the like. In our product line we have Gel-10 and Gel-00 that may be manipulated to very low, 00 softness, with additves like deadener.

  • @brickintheyard you knowledge along with others has confirmed this element deadner is the key will experiment further thank you very much for the info much appreciated

  • nicely done good sir

  • where in texas r u in?

  • @lycan324 Just outside of Dallas in Richardson.

  • @brickintheyard thanks its cuz i live in new mexico

  • @brickintheyard thanks its cuz i live in new mexico

  • @brickintheyard thanks its cuz i live in new mexico

  • how much did this whole project cost?

  • @3K85 Cost per mask will depend on what size kit of Gel-10 you are using. If you are working out of a small, 2lb kit, your coast for silicone would be ~$36. All the pigments are used in very small amounts so the total cost in additives per mask might come to about ~$5.

  • i want to sculpt a geezer mask but i'm not sure how to make it look old and wrinkly

  • Dear sir could you plz help me ,by telling me what product did you used to prepare this....thank you

  • @darkocean777 Our webstore info is at the end of the video.

  • Is there anything that will do the same job as mold soap, besides mold soap ?

  • @WorkItBack13195 Vaseline will work too.

  • so goood

  • if i sculpted say a demon, could i do this method with that sculpt. and if so please tell me wat and how to do this. thanks

  • @dcshows1 The reason for this quick method is to bypass a sculpt all together. If you are sculpting a mask it would make more sense to mold it with fiberglass, ultracal, or 1512 in a traditiona 2 piece mold with a core.

  • Hey, i'm trying to create an exorcist effect when the woman turns her head all the way around, would it be possible to make a silicon mask for her neck and then take it into post?

  • @hydrosortofguy Not sure what you mean by that.

  • i want to buy this kit but i have a question, if i sculpt my design out of clay then pour on the pink liquid can i let it dry then just pull away and wear it?

  • @LOWS305 Hmmmm.... not sure how that would work.

  • Amazing, much better than the shitty solid plastic ones the shops sell.

  • could you make me one lol

  • how about latex

  • very cool thanks for posting this and telling us what and where to get supplies!

  • @gospeedracer40 Go to the link at 9:48 :)

  • If I'm doing a puppet would the same level of layers be okay? Or should I double it?

  • @JaymesMansfield The number of layers isn't as critical as how thick the final piece is. Anything over 1/4" might be too thick.

  • what are the ingredients you used for the mask

  • @Harmfulswagger Everything you need to make this mask (minus the armature) is in the Gel-10 starter kit on our webstore. You would also need an addition 2lb kit of Gel-10 or Gel-00.

  • @brickintheyard thank u soo much

  • what are the ingredients you used for the mask

  • what are the ingrediants you used

  • Would I be able to make a realistic old man mask with this and if so how? Would anything need to be done differently? (besides adding old man features instead of zombie features)

  • @TwoHardNipples2 Unless you are really good at sculpting in silicone it would be extremely difficult to do an old man mask this way. Better to make a sculpt, mold it in stone or resin, and cast it in Gel-00.

  • @Gamescare

Just in case you were wondering about the foam armature -- I have one sitting a couple feet from me now, that I'm using to make a mask just like the one in the video. It works amazing!

  • So simple but so amazing! Congratulations!!! :-)

  • Awesome video thank so much! Is there any way to make the skin a little more smooth? For a mask that doesn't have a zombie texture but more of a real one? I wouldn't have to be perfect because we'll be adding hair, but it won't be a zombie either.....

    Thanks!!

  • @Yanninyree The texture is all up to you. You can also use mold soap on your hands to smooth it out or 99% alcohol.

  • Where do you get all the things you need... :s

  • @brickintheyard yeah I asked that before I got to the end :3

  • I was just wondering, can you apply Gel10 to a foam cast without Mold Soap?

If not, is there and replacement for Mold Soap?

  • @starscreamwilson Yes. Mold soap is mainly required for working over stone or plaster armatures, however, light coat of vaseline will help the cured Gel-10 peel off a little easier.

  • Could i use the live cast to make small latex prosthetics?

  • @Gamescare Yes.

  • @brickintheyard where do you get the hair for the mask.

  • @TheEk132 Most beauty supply shops carry human hair.

  • @brickintheyard is the "head armature" in your store made out of the same material as the life cast in this video?

  • @Gamescare No. The headcast in this video weighs about 25 lbs and is made of solid Hydrocal. The lifecast armature we sell is made of lightweight foam.

  • can i make a jason voorhees mask like this?

  • how much do you think it would cost for me to make a mask like this? I want to make a jigsaw mask.

  • This looks awesome and perfectly suited to a mask I want to make--is it possible to paint over the silicone after you're done sculpting, and if you can, what kind of paint?

    Thanks!

  • @RebelButane Must be painted with more Gel-10. Mix pigments into gel-10 and paint away.

  • @brickintheyard Sounds good--thanks a lot! :]

  • Comment removed

  • What the flock is flocking?

  • would i be able to make a freddy krueger mask like this with a moving mouth?

  • @blackheart0478 Yes, but you might want to use Gel-00.

  • @brickintheyard yay thank you! :D

  • Where do you purchase Silicone?

  • @WorkItBack13195 From us! Our contact info is at the end of the video.

  • just a question, if I would want to make this myself, around how much would it all cost from having nothing to having the mask, ? thanks:)

  • @kurt5665 Plan on spending ~$100-150 to get started, depending on how elaborate you get. Once you have all the pigments and thickeners handy the actual cost per mask is around $50.

  • I don't know if you've been asked this or not, but - I have long hair, down to about my thighs by now. How would I go about making a mask with this much hair? Do I just try to stuff it all in a wig cap, or something else? Cutting it isn't an option, haha. Thank you for any reply.

  • @BendyJenny Either stuff it into a wig cap or cut a hole in the mask and pull it through to the outside of the mask.

  • @brickintheyard Thank you very much! I'll probably end up cutting a hole, because wig caps don't usually work too well. And thanks for this video, as well. It's marvelous!

  • Hi. i want to make siliconemasks, but im a absolute beginner. do you have any tipps what tools\silicones\retarders\what ever should i buy for the beginning? [sorry for my bad english, but i think you know what i mean]

    Greetings from austria.

  • @MisterMindcircus We have a Gel-10 starter kit. I would also recommend some of our How-to DVDs that cover lifecasting and moldmaking.

  • Is there a way to do this with slipknot masks?

  • Hi that was a great vid but how much is the materials and over all how much did it cost you please answer?

  • @createrman1999 This process uses about $75 worth of supplies but check our webstore for current pricing.

  • @brickintheyard thanks for the response. No I don't have much facial hair so hopefully it works just fine. I ordered the gel-10 accessories kit with the DVD and the head armature. Is there a release agent I should use on the foam head armature you sell?

  • @Yushitessen A thin layer of vaseline is a good idea just to make the demold a little smoother.

  • @daisy1777 gel-10

  • so to make a mold you just pour sillicone on your mold and start thining it down so it will cover it all and do it in 5 mins

  • which is better silicone or latex ?? please answer :)

  • @madcarlosmayne Silicone and latex are very different materials. Both serve different functions. Depending on what you are doing, they are both good materials.

  • @brickintheyard I never knew that! But I must ask: which is better for what? Like, is latex or silicone better for zombie mask making? Freddy Kruger styled? etc. And for more realistic faces, like an actor, musician, or even realistic looking videogame character, is latex or silicone better? Also, why?

I hope you don't mind the abundance of questions, but i've been so fascintaed with using these materials but have NO experience yet. Thanks a bunch in advance!

  • @osuushiza8 Silicone offers much better movement than latex and it is translucent. Latex is very easy to use but it is too stiff for most facial prosthetics. Silicone such as Gel-10 may also be manipulated with additives like Smith's Deadener that drop the softness down to the "00" range and make it even more lifelike.

  • @brickintheyard Wow! Sounds rather scientific! :P I've never experienced with these products in my life though, but I have this incredible urge to try it! thanks for pinpointing the differences in detail!!

  • @brickintheyard thank you !

  • i don't understand if your using silicone or gelatin cause your saying it both

  • @daisy1777 This is Gel-10 silicone not gelatin.

  • @brickintheyard oh ahahahah thanks

  • do u sell ur masks, if so do u have masks tht are demon or werewolf for female fit heads

  • @twitchy17100 No, no masks for sale here. Just supplies.

  • Is there anything you need to do to your facial hair before you put on the mask or will it not make a difference?

Also does the DVD option for the gel-10 include the DVD that teaches how to make a reusable mold to mass produce the mask? Or which DVD teaches that?

  • @Yushitessen If you have a lot of facia hair it may distort the mask. The DVD you mentioned does not cover molds for masks. The closest thing we offer now is our "fundamentals of silicone skins" DVD but it mainly covers molds and casts for silicone props and basic puppet skins. Some of those methods apply to mask making. Overall, a silicone mask mold is going to be the same as a latex mask mold but a core mold may be required for additional accuracy in the final fit.

  • Could you make a tutorial on how to make a werewolf mask? So i can make my Halloween costume that much better.

  • @Citron2000 Use some translucent face powder or baby powder. The face powder is better as it doesn't give it a white look.

  • Woooahh Where do you get all Of The supplies To Make The Mask?

  • @superkassidy1 The website is at the end of the video.

  • Woooahh Were do you get all Of The supplies To Make The Mask?

  • @MJIsNotDeath Our webstore offers international shipping.

  • Hi...were i can buy gel-10 on Internet...no in the market bacause i'm italian...

  • If I make a life cast of myself, sculpt an old man with plasticine clay, and make another full head mold; Is there a way to make an injection type casting for the Platsil Gel 10 for an accurate fit? Is it necessary? Or will a slush cast of Gel 10 in the Old Man mold fit good enough? I normally work with Mask Latex; but the gel 10 looks pretty flexible and forgiving...so could an average adult wear the mask I make and have it fit comfortably? Thanks for all the great videos!

  • @salanello The Neill Gorton DVD series covers that process in great detail. That is the best way to make a detailed, form fitting mask. This approach (in this tutorial) is for quick and easy masks for haunts and those of us on a tight budget.

  • @BaylieeGee It is safe on skin, but this process takes a while so it is much better to do on an armature.

  • @brickintheyard i might but its a lot of money for wut i'd need

  • I Want It For Holloweeeeeennn... :~D

  • Just wanted to clarify. Is the Gel 10 thin enough that it kind of thins itself out for the details. Or did the video just kind of cut out all the smoothing. Just curious how much smoothing you have to do within the short time span. Thanks!

  • @justplaindoug If youn't add the TinThix thickener it will level out by itself and create a smooth surface.

  • Just wanted to clarify. Is the Gel 10 thin enough that it kind of thins itself out for the details. Or did the video just kind of cut out all the smoothing. Just curious how much smoothing you have to do within the short time span. Thanks!

  • @brickintheyard how much does all the stuff and head cost

  • @slipknot10160 Check our webstore for current pricing. We used ~2lbs of Gel-10 to make and paint the mask. On our webstore we have accessory kits and additives that you might also want to use. The armature is also on the webstore.

  • @brickintheyard To bad that it cost more in freight than the things i want to order.

I want to place a order around 900$ US and its 900 $ in freight and shipping to Norway :/

  • @brickintheyard look up slipknot masks on youtube if u wanted 2 make 1 but there masks r pretty cool

  • Man if i has a dollar for everytime he said "gel-tin"

  • slipknot masks?

  • @slipknot10160 I get this question alot and I have no idea what a slipknot mask looks like.

  • @brickintheyard Slipknot is a music band :D try watch?v=rVkD_EzpPuE you can find many of their videos on Ytube and see their masks =]

  • @brickintheyard GOOGLE it lol xD....

  • can u make slipknot masks???

  • Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how much does silicone cost?

  • @thebowlzack Check our webstore for current Gel-10 pricing.

  • what is the list of products used in this whole video

  • @CalebaKing The list will vary depending on how intricate of a mask you want to make. Go through the video and you will get a good idea of what you will need. On our webstore we have starter kits that help if you don't know exactly which products you need. The Gel-10 starter kit and a 2lb kit of Gel-10 are what most people get to make this kind of mask.

  • I cant find a armature...can i use my brother?

  • @Nostro200 Only if your brother is hairless and has incredible patience otherwise order one off our online store.

  • I can't find a armature!!! PLease help...And what if we don't want ears on our mask?

  • @brennlog We sell them on our webstore. You can always cut off the ears.

  • I can't find a armature!!! PLease help

  • You guys are amazing! I've learned so much from your channel, and look forward to putting it to good use!

  • I saw "Neill Gorton's Creating Character Prosthetics in Silicone- The Complete Process" on the site you suggest.

Is this a good place to learn hyper realistic mask creation or is there better literature out there?

  • @CultureCrossbreed The Neill Gorton series is the only DVD series that I know of that explains that process.

  • What is better for coloring the silicone pigments with the gel 10 or the Skin Illustrator makeup?

  • @bigbadwolf2361 The silicone pigments may be mixed with Gel-10and the resulting mixture will cure and bond to your Gel-10 mask. Skin Illustrator can not be mixed into Gel-10. Skin Illustrator colors are more of a temporary paint rather than a permenant bond. We have some customers who paint with Skin Illustrator and then seal the painted piece with Gel-10.

  • How did I get here? Must be bored.

  • i live in texas too! :D

  • i will do that mask soon

  • cool!!

  • you guys are awesome im subscribing

  • what kind of paint do you mix in the silicone? Couldn't really hear it...

  • @RaiDarkThunder Not paint, pigment. These are silicone pigments. Paint, esp acrylics, will inhibit the cure of silicone.

  • i want to do this :)

  • Dude do u play Combat Arms? U sound Familure

  • @TheTalkingMushroom i play combat arms!!!!!!!!

  • Cool video and i just want to make sure , is the platsil gel 10 starter kit on your website enough to make a mask like this ?

  • @skeletonedeath The starter kit contains a 1lb kit. To make a mask like this I recommend getting the starter kit + a 2lb kit. That would be enough for a good thickness mask and enough left over to paint it.

  • could you cut the nose of your armature? (I wanna make a voldemort mask)?

  • would you be able to use this stuff to make a realistic mermaid tail?

  • @fuzzypinkpolarbear1 Ummm... sure!

  • Too awesome, and super helpful. Thanks!!

  • @brickintheyard is it possible to creat a silicone mask mold to recreate the mask?

  • @GushFX The Neill Gorton DVD series covers that process. This is just a short cut method for folks on a tight budget.

  • can i use a glass head?

  • @dk4everX Hmmmm... you might need to apply some vaseline. Sometimes silicone really wants to stick to glass.

  • how much would all of these supplies cost and where can i get them?

  • @quoz11 Go to 9:48 Current pricing is available on our webstore.

  • Can i do that with liquid latex?

  • @PaulJunior14 Never tried it with liquid latex.

  • @brickintheyard oh ok, if you guys makes a maskvideo where u use latex, can you please send me it?

  • @PaulJunior14 I'll save you some time and tell you now that there will not be a latex video like that. Latex takes too long to dry and the finished product does not have the realistic movement of silicone.

  • @brickintheyard i see..

  • the lifecast looks like bruce willis

  • is there a starter kit for begginger's

  • @spsfish1 We do have a starter kit. Check on our webstore.

  • oh yeah i thought that read eleven lbs lol

what i meant about the latex products is only using them and not the gel-10 but seeing as how runny liquid latex is i would guess it is not a great idea

  • @brickintheyard thanks for the fast response!! wow that's gotta be a bit heavy? by the looks of it i would have guessed 5 lbs. max! well now i know what must be done and i just need to do it :D also I was reading the comment about using a styrofoam wig head. now could i use balloon latex for this as well? or even foam latex? also are there any ratio problems with using a wig head? like say in the neck area or the overall size of the head?

  • @MonsterMaker88 I think my number and fraction wasn't clear. It took about 1.5 lbs. Latex and latex products like foam latex are not a good idea. Latex will inhibit the cure of Gel-10.

  • i dont know if this has been asked already but about how many Oz. of silicone did this entire finished product take? I am looking at your web-store trying to decide what and how much i should buy

  • @MonsterMaker88 Check the previous comments. I think this one took about 11/2 lbs of Gel-10.

  • @brickintheyard Can regular paint be mixed with the Gel 10 to get whatever color u want?

  • @cole5191 Silicone pigments are the best way to go. Some paint works and some does not so test 1st to avoid some sad times with Gel-10.

  • do you know where i can get something like that lifecast

  • @xxxblizzardxkingxxx Go to the website @ 9:46

  • What did you use to color it?

  • @TheMasksRevenge Silicone Pigments. We offer a selection of silicone pigment palettes on our webstore.
