The sad thing is that YouTube was a very good source for listening to musicians and decide what to buy. I didn't buy any Sparks until I had the chance to have a proper listen on YouTube, I have bought all their albums. The same goes for Yello and Alphaville, every song I have by them is bought and that is because I can pick the songs I like on iTunes. Now I started to buy Fabrizio de André too and him I heard for the first time on YouTube. The companies are digging their own grave.
Yeah I havn't been on old Utube in a while...noticed a lot of good vids like tips for teens and ect are missing ...whats going on? Did you save all the vids you have MissMael?
It's not exactly youtube fault. The labels don't seem to realise its not 1986 anymore. The internets here to stay. I have found loads of new bands through youtube. Which has led me to buy lots of those bands cds. So actually there starving new acts because of their copyright bullshit ¬¬
@MissMael I almost do all of my premusic buying by researching here at YouTube. The radio isn't the place to go anymore as they don't pick up the good songs. Most recently I bought Credo by The Human League after watching Night People video here on Youtube. I gave me a taste of what the album would be, and glad I purchased it.
not since 80s king crimson has anyone made a trio of lps so perfect they should use them in music schools around the world to educate young people to what real pop rock should sound like lil beetoven, hello young lovers, exotic creatures of the deep please look these up and save your ears today and the other 18 albums too!
Great video (as usual) but their older, more melodic & danceable music ('Music That You Can Dance To' or 'When Do I Get To Sing My Way') is WAY better!
Agree! Ron and Russell (with bands) have made some of the most creative, intelligent, innovative, entertaining, satirical, funny and melodic music and lyrics of last 40 years; terribly overlooked in American, but who says taste reigns in American?? (not me)
I love this song, even if it is just "My Baby's Taking me Home" sun over and over! The variations in style, tempo and key make it listenable and very enjoyable!! I'm glad the actual video has finally been posted on YouTube!

This, I'd say, is minimal music in a pop context. The typical traits are all there. Successfully connecting these two worlds has to count as genius.
Apparently the Maels like anagrams, too - at 2:34, COLORBLIND becomes NO CRIB DOLL. :D Not like I'd be surprised...

It seems to me that Sparks in the 70's was great. Later they just became repetitive. This song and "The # 1 Song in Heaven" for example.

Oh, the time for this video will probably come too :(
I guess YouTube as a channel for music and film soon will die.

Well to be honest, The Copyright Act doesn't include the internet, so they are just being fussy.

I have the videos but YouTube won't let me upload them again :( If this continues I guess I have to move to Dailymotion or something.
Wonder who many music fans it'll be left at the end.

This is so good it hurts. I never get tired of the song. So much depth and resonance in a minimal package.

Just found this song, you are right, it hurts. Treacherous simplicity, painfully beautiful!
