complete fail, if your trying to do a decent tutorial plan it out a little first, this was mindless dribble. "here you have colors.....yeah colors....ok moving on..." wtf. Obviously you had good intentions but this was a fail. You kinda just moved your mouse around the screen at random and gave very little information about the basic interface.
Great little introduction. I've had it with Cubase and it's dongle, Reaper is pretty good but SOOOO many things you need to know to get started. It takes me half an hour to find where the hell the signal is! LOGIC looks like SUPER Garageband, with its straightforward and intuitive interface. Thanks - I'll buy it!
I think you know a lot and are more competent with Logic Pro than you appear to come over. I was pay paying for this then I would be disappointed from what appear to be almost rehearsed or intentional errors. However it it was truly a first take with some genuine errors along the way then I found it very useful and understandably which is more I can say for most other tutorials. So many thanks!
I really freaking love this tutorial. I just bought Logic and was an Ableton power user and now I know a hell of a lot more about this software. Because when I first booted it after installing everything my face: :o Now: :DDD Thanks Alex<3
I'M SO CONFUSED! I have a MIDI keyboard and a Fast Track Pro interface for guitar and mics. I am able to hear the keyboard when I select a new project, compose, and electronic. However, I can't hear it if I choose empty project. Also, my interface is not being picked up through the software at all. It's on and I can get a signal when I plug my guitar into it, but no sound is outputted. I have done all of the steps with the audio preferences and still nothing....any suggestions?
My first official single just released (produced in Logic), "Don't Disguise What's Inside" you can hear it for free on my youtube page, a download link will be posted on the sidebar as soon as it's uploaded on iTunes & Amazon in the next 24 hours.. If you're not interested in buying even feedback would be helpful.. thanks :)!
@CameronasyArt sorry that was a problem I had when I first started recording these tutorials (many years ago) - it should be fixed in the later ones :)
I don't understand why so many people are complaining; I thought it was a great tutorial. You showed all the necessary basics to lay down tracks and add effects, and I could understand you just fine. Thanks for the tutorial!
Cannot understand anything u r saying in the last 2 minutes of this . I have watched this and it has taken me an hour to figure out what u r saying and doing on my apple
Ok bro....if your going to instyruct a tutorial...u have to finish ure sentences word for word....u keep going "see if u adjfadfaouidhga like this"...WTF IS THIS?
How do you mess around with the synthesizer after the track is recorded, with the mixer, and keep it recorded, but ultimatley editing the original track, with the same basic synthesizer as you used to record, but lastly mixing the original track, so record over it maybe? PLEASE reply, looking fer an answer :) thank you
@TRips204 Hi, I don't really understand your question - If you want to edit a sound, simply double-click the software instrument in the left panel. If you want to edit the notes, double click the track in the arrange window...
Why describe this as being for a beginner, then gloss over everything as being self explanitory .. or Google it ... or look it up somewhere else? It maybe obvious to you, but not a beginner.
I'm going to look for a video that explains how to use Logic Express .... because this isn't it.

I'm going to look for a video that explains how to use Logic Express .... because this isn't it.
I truly do not understand why you would go through the trouble of putting a nice introduction together for this tutorial when you rush through everything in the actual tutorial and skip over basic things... this is the worst. Really.
do you have a windows or a mac because i desperatly looked for an asterisk key on my keyboard :P
other than that your vid was great and i realize that this is the first video and i didnt get a chance to watch the other ones (spent an hour watching this one :P)
but i wanted to use what ever setting that you used at the end of the video and im having a problem finding it o.O
@FilmerStatus I think you mean you have logic but you don't have a synth, in which case press CAPS and it will bring up a keyboard (make sure you're in the main logic window)
You'd think for a tutorial about recording audio, there would be clearer audio and some attention taken to the standards and mix here... how about the "scream" about 3:27 or the midi plonking completely overpowering the narration?
Wow, what does it say that the opening music has such a high volume level compared to the narration? You'd think for a tutorial about recording audio, there would be clearer audio and some attention taken to the standards here...
Hypereditor is basically automation but when you move a region the hyperdraw can stay with the region. Same as if you copy a region, copys the hyperdraw with it if you want.
You sound like you couldn't give a f*ck about teaching people/you dont actually know what your talking about. Any tutor that says, "uh, yeah, you know go learn that else where/google it" "uh yeah""yeah""uh yeah" "like, google it" "whatever"
wow this girl sucks at this tutorial she sounded nervous to begin with and that brit accent didnt help. Also she was pressing button way to fast like you are suppose to know all this for a beginner tutorial?
I am starting to work on Logic Pro and I need to know if I can manipulate the general tempo of the songs I add into my project? I thought changing the metronome would also change the tempo of the song beat, but it's like two different things sepparate from each other. Can you or anyone else help me with this noob question. XD Thank you very much in advance!
@FlavioPiero If you change the tempo at the start of the proj ie bar 1 it will change the tempo of the entire piece, if you change the tempo for example bar 9 it will change the tempo from bar 9 onwards... does that help??
@28macsl8r Sort of.. I found where to go to switch the tempo of the Song. I'm going under "Options" > "Tempo" > "Tempo Operations" But it still only changes the tempo of one lane, which is lane 2 (something I've recorded myself through the Garage Band earlier).
What I need is to reduce both lane 2 and 1 (which is the original backing track I've got), This way I would be able to train on a more complete backing track (original + recording) in a slower speed at first, but one lane stays fast.
mm.. this is my first time with any kind of sound studio so i don't know any big words, but when i click on the instrument samples in the library (acoustic piano) there is no sound. i can hear the metronome though. :( i tried restarting it and disabling/enabling the core audio, it isn't any good.
@soundlessilence and i created some notes with the piano roll, once i'd selected an instrument (that i couldn't hear anyway:P), and i can't hear the notes either. i can hear the demo project however. so its all very confusing and sad.
i just downloaded logic off the web today but when i go into media and then the library thing there is only a garageband folder there... so in otherwords i only have the same sounds as garageband... how can i get all the logic sounds?
you didn't go through setting up audio interface with the Macbook's sound card. Which is the biggest problem beginners face with softwares that are any more complexed than audacity or garageband.
How do i get sound coming out of my sound card at all?
@justkillen07 ok well check by doing this. load up the es2 in logic, on a new project new software instrumnet track. Playing the keyoard should play the es2
way to go i really like your tutorial, for the pll out there who don't like it, well just turn the channel, you don't have to leave a stupid comment....thank you.

very good tutorial video, i wish i found it a couple of months ago when i first got logic, you made it a load simpler than the way i found my way round logic.
Hello Alex- you seem to be proficient, but I do suggest that you do speak more slowly- take your time- you kind of zip past everything- but i am grateful for you tutorial- thanks-!
at the bottom right of the screen there will be a blue metronome icon (if it's on, grey if it isn't) - be aware that when you are recording the metronome has a different setting - to change this go into settings > metronome and look at the boxes at the bottom of the page
I just have a quick question, I was wondering if there was a way to make the playhead snap to the beat like it does in garageband? When i want to put the playhead on the beat I have to zoom in and its annoying...
Thanks, yeah you can press period (or full stop) and the comma to go between bars and that will usually snap your playhead right on the bar. You can also set up the snap on the right top of logic's arrange window
That was a good video. Usually you see people talking for ages about something with very little information and it seems as though they don't even know much themselves. Cheers
Hey, just looked at the rear panel on this thing and I reckon you need a miniUSB to USB cable and plug that into the thing that says 'to host'. Then try playing it into logic with any software instrument loaded up. I hope that helps
Wanna say thank you so much for this tutorial, i've had logic pro on my mac for ages, and i ignore it cause i can't figure a thing out, an equally lazy, Good job, u did get me started.
Thanx guys, I haven't been home much recently but I'll make some more soon, It'd be great if you guys want tutorials to tell me what you want, I'd rather do that than my own ideas :)
Thank you for the tutorial, have just got Logic Express and feeling very confused with it all... this tutorial was really helpful and got me used to where everything is - I'll be watching all your vids when I get stuck :) x

I just have a quick question, I was wondering if there was a way to make the playhead snap to the beat like it does in garageband? When i want to put the playhead on the beat I have to zoom in and its annoying...
Great tutorials by the way!

Thanks, yeah you can press period (or full stop) and the comma to go between bars and that will usually snap your playhead right on the bar. You can also set up the snap on the right top of logic's arrange window

Great tutorial for beginners!

Thanx guys, I haven't been home much recently but I'll make some more soon, It'd be great if you guys want tutorials to tell me what you want, I'd rather do that than my own ideas :)
