  • complete fail, if your trying to do a decent tutorial plan it out a little first, this was mindless dribble. "here you have colors.....yeah colors....ok moving on..." wtf. Obviously you had good intentions but this was a fail. You kinda just moved your mouse around the screen at random and gave very little information about the basic interface.

  • Great little introduction. I've had it with Cubase and it's dongle, Reaper is pretty good but SOOOO many things you need to know to get started. It takes me half an hour to find where the hell the signal is! LOGIC looks like SUPER Garageband, with its straightforward and intuitive interface. Thanks - I'll buy it!

  • I think you know a lot and are more competent with Logic Pro than you appear to come over. I was pay paying for this then I would be disappointed from what appear to be almost rehearsed or intentional errors. However it it was truly a first take with some genuine errors along the way then I found it very useful and understandably which is more I can say for most other tutorials. So many thanks!

  • my left ear loved this video

  • OMG, thats a guy?

  • haha transcribe audio for some funny shit! :D

  • are you fat? on 1:57 you sound like you have some trouble breathing. haha

  • I really freaking love this tutorial. I just bought Logic and was an Ableton power user and now I know a hell of a lot more about this software. Because when I first booted it after installing everything my face: :o Now: :DDD Thanks Alex<3

  • Oh wow, I thought you were a girl. I'm sorry.

  • Pretty simple shit. Good fucking tutorial biatch.

  • i love your tone of voice... learnt allot. Thanks!

  • I'M SO CONFUSED! I have a MIDI keyboard and a Fast Track Pro interface for guitar and mics. I am able to hear the keyboard when I select a new project, compose, and electronic. However, I can't hear it if I choose empty project. Also, my interface is not being picked up through the software at all. It's on and I can get a signal when I plug my guitar into it, but no sound is outputted. I have done all of the steps with the audio preferences and still nothing....any suggestions?

  • Good tutorial, but next time STOP MUMBLING 'Um, Uh, Duh...etc'

Are you speaking ENGLISH? Wow, pronounce your words clearly, will you? Or go get tested, maybe you have a speech impediment. Seriously.

  • it was an OK tutorial..... only advice would be to try smoking less meth next time before you decide to make one

  • your voice sounds sexy as hell

  • Do u HAVE to have a MIDI to play the things in the library??

  • I was lost thank u so much logic is the s@$t

  • I love your voice :D

  • Very good refresher back into Logic, cheers Alex

  • why is it all panned left??? :D

  • @CameronasyArt sorry that was a problem I had when I first started recording these tutorials (many years ago) - it should be fixed in the later ones :)

  • @28macsl8r still a very helpful video thanks

  • Is this piano comes with Logic? It's sounds really good!

  • @maciejszpyra Yes

  • I don't understand why so many people are complaining; I thought it was a great tutorial. You showed all the necessary basics to lay down tracks and add effects, and I could understand you just fine. Thanks for the tutorial!

  • What fucking language is that? You suck!

  • your accent is sexy =]

  • OMG Get reason from propellerheads !!!!!!!!

  • uhhmmm what?

  • Cannot understand anything u r saying in the last 2 minutes of this . I have watched this and it has taken me an hour to figure out what u r saying and doing on my apple

  • you mumble and it is hard to hear what you are saying

  • Ok bro....if your going to instyruct a tutorial...u have to finish ure sentences word for word....u keep going "see if u adjfadfaouidhga like this"...WTF IS THIS?

  • I don't know what you're saying and everything happens way too fast for somebody who hasn't got a clue :p

  • fuckin terrible tutorial nice job you british fuck!

  • It's not so easy to listen to you as foreigner! ^^

  • I can understnad you love(: These kids need to watch more Uk rap battles... haha

  • Where did you get that Wallpaper? :P Can you link it to me or something ? (:

  • How do you mess around with the synthesizer after the track is recorded, with the mixer, and keep it recorded, but ultimatley editing the original track, with the same basic synthesizer as you used to record, but lastly mixing the original track, so record over it maybe? PLEASE reply, looking fer an answer :) thank you

  • @TRips204 Hi, I don't really understand your question - If you want to edit a sound, simply double-click the software instrument in the left panel. If you want to edit the notes, double click the track in the arrange window...

  • I would suggest a good doze of speech therapy

  • @veka1111 and I would suggest a good dose of spelling therapy

  • nice, first time a girl is doing a logic tutorial. keep it up! :)

  • Maybe you can talk a little clearer?

  • you kinda muble and it is hard to understand soemtimes

  • Thanks alot! This really makes logic easy to understand for me.

  • Why describe this as being for a beginner, then gloss over everything as being self explanitory .. or Google it ... or look it up somewhere else? It maybe obvious to you, but not a beginner.

I'm going to look for a video that explains how to use Logic Express .... because this isn't it.

  • I truly do not understand why you would go through the trouble of putting a nice introduction together for this tutorial when you rush through everything in the actual tutorial and skip over basic things... this is the worst. Really.

  • i just got logic pro 9. is this tutorial basically the same layout for logic 9? from what i see it is but i'm not sure

  • Nice Logic 101 tutorial. thank you.

  • u sound like ur anxious :P

  • do you have a windows or a mac because i desperatly looked for an asterisk key on my keyboard :P

other than that your vid was great and i realize that this is the first video and i didnt get a chance to watch the other ones (spent an hour watching this one :P)

but i wanted to use what ever setting that you used at the end of the video and im having a problem finding it o.O

  • when you say synthesizer it is pretty much the cutest thing I've ever heard.

  • is there a musical typing option? I dont have a synth but I have logic

  • @FilmerStatus I think you mean you have logic but you don't have a synth, in which case press CAPS and it will bring up a keyboard (make sure you're in the main logic window)

    Alex

  • @28macsl8r yes thank you so much

  • is this logic pro 9

  • @ajaydatindiekid96 no, 8

  • how did you make this video? It looks like you used imovie, but how did you sinc up the music so well with the video?

  • @jobjobjobjobjob ScreenFlow

  • You'd think for a tutorial about recording audio, there would be clearer audio and some attention taken to the standards and mix here... how about the "scream" about 3:27 or the midi plonking completely overpowering the narration?

  • Wow, what does it say that the opening music has such a high volume level compared to the narration? You'd think for a tutorial about recording audio, there would be clearer audio and some attention taken to the standards here...

  • dude i dont have a synth anymore... is there a setting on the computer like in garage band?

  • @MarkFreakMagician CAPS Lock

  • if you play through a midi keyboard, is there a possibilty there will be a delay in hearing the sound from when you hit the note?

  • @soshinythoughts yes its called latency

  • can i use logic on xp?

  • well i didnt learn anything.

  • for techno FL studio or Logic?

  • Hypereditor is basically automation but when you move a region the hyperdraw can stay with the region. Same as if you copy a region, copys the hyperdraw with it if you want.

  • can i make music without a midi usb controler?

i tried to use the caps loc keayt board but i cant hear whet i have made what is up ?

  • try to speak better i don't understand anything,

  • ah yeah whatever... I don't know what I'm talking about..I can't be bothered to make this video..

  • I can't focus cuz her voice is so stinkin' sexy. not kidding.

  • You sound like you couldn't give a f*ck about teaching people/you dont actually know what your talking about. Any tutor that says, "uh, yeah, you know go learn that else where/google it" "uh yeah""yeah""uh yeah" "like, google it" "whatever"

  • This is hella weak

  • A tutorial in stereo would have been appreciated...

  • fuck you are shit. You shouldnt make tutorials on anything unless you have good experience.

  • your voice is so boring

  • 28macsl8r,

Just got Logic today. Your beginner tutorial is perfect for me. Nice work!!!

  • 28macsl8r!! You are sweet. Just got logic today and your beginner video is perfect for me. Nice work.

  • I can't hear a shit of what she is saying..

  • wow this girl sucks at this tutorial she sounded nervous to begin with and that brit accent didnt help. Also she was pressing button way to fast like you are suppose to know all this for a beginner tutorial?

  • how does ur metronome sound lke that??

  • this tutorial is terrible.

  • Big up the English !!

  • I am starting to work on Logic Pro and I need to know if I can manipulate the general tempo of the songs I add into my project? I thought changing the metronome would also change the tempo of the song beat, but it's like two different things sepparate from each other. Can you or anyone else help me with this noob question. XD Thank you very much in advance!

  • @FlavioPiero If you change the tempo at the start of the proj ie bar 1 it will change the tempo of the entire piece, if you change the tempo for example bar 9 it will change the tempo from bar 9 onwards... does that help??

  • @28macsl8r Sort of.. I found where to go to switch the tempo of the Song. I'm going under "Options" > "Tempo" > "Tempo Operations" But it still only changes the tempo of one lane, which is lane 2 (something I've recorded myself through the Garage Band earlier).

What I need is to reduce both lane 2 and 1 (which is the original backing track I've got), This way I would be able to train on a more complete backing track (original + recording) in a slower speed at first, but one lane stays fast.

  • BEFORE YOU POST UP TUTORIALS MAKE SURE YOU COULD TEACH FIRST

  • @twentysek ,

  • can u use logic 4 the pc

  • u might be the most cynical thing ive come across on utube yet. helpful tho ;)

  • Nice tutorial, helped me out alot. So thanks. Also ur voice is left speaker but yes ur audio is in stereo! Thanks again!!

  • cool desktop background!! where did u find it?

  • mm.. this is my first time with any kind of sound studio so i don't know any big words, but when i click on the instrument samples in the library (acoustic piano) there is no sound. i can hear the metronome though. :( i tried restarting it and disabling/enabling the core audio, it isn't any good.

  • @soundlessilence and i created some notes with the piano roll, once i'd selected an instrument (that i couldn't hear anyway:P), and i can't hear the notes either. i can hear the demo project however. so its all very confusing and sad.

  • what language are you speaking ?

  • this is kind of a left field ? but where did u get ur background from

  • i just downloaded logic off the web today but when i go into media and then the library thing there is only a garageband folder there... so in otherwords i only have the same sounds as garageband... how can i get all the logic sounds?

  • i seriously am in love with your voice!!!!

  • cute accent. terrible tutorial. i think ill stick with live.

  • you didn't go through setting up audio interface with the Macbook's sound card. Which is the biggest problem beginners face with softwares that are any more complexed than audacity or garageband.

How do i get sound coming out of my sound card at all?

  • dude when i plug my mpk 49 it wont make any sound? like it will record it but cant hear it

  • @justkillen07 um, how are you connecting it, straight through USB or through a midi interface?

  • ya straight through USB

  • @justkillen07 ok well check by doing this. load up the es2 in logic, on a new project new software instrumnet track. Playing the keyoard should play the es2

  • @justkillen07 lol you plug your keyboard?

  • What advantage do you think Logic has over Protools ?

  • Is autotune a feature in this? Great Tutorial by the way :)

  • way to go i really like your tutorial, for the pll out there who don't like it, well just turn the channel, you don't have to leave a stupid comment....thank you.

  • SHity shity tutorial, ur accent is horrid

  • You sound like Imogen Heap...

  • Nice video but do you really like that sony mixer you have as your desktop image? I have to use it at work sometimes and I think it's really crappy...

  • well, just got it off google images and it's a good photo... didn't know it was sony though...nasty :)

  • yeah, it actually looks kinda cool in the picture hehe wish it also did in real life... anyways...

  • i have a mixer with a 19 channel i wanna record live drums how can i make it that each mix hs a track on it? step by step

    pleae help me

  • You are best off visiting this website which will show you the options you have - you'll probably want to skip through the first few pages: tweakheadz(dot)com(slash)rigs(dot)htm

  • mumble mumble mumble.

  • Thanks. BTW, clicking caps lock turns your querty keyboard into a controller for the software sounds. Primitive, but effective.

  • true

  • hi alex

  • hey :P

  • are you using a midi usb controller?

  • No, a sy99 yamaha synth through a midi interface (Edirol UA-25)

    Alex

  • Nice review

I would kill to have that wallpaper.

    where did you get it?

  • search on google images for mixing desk - should be up there!

    alex

  • thanks! good job!

  • cheers :)

  • very good tutorial video, i wish i found it a couple of months ago when i first got logic, you made it a load simpler than the way i found my way round logic.

  • sexy voice and the accent... yeah

  • Great tutorial! Really appreciate it... :D

  • cool intro man

  • thx, made it in after effects.

  • Cheerz

  • Hello Alex- you seem to be proficient, but I do suggest that you do speak more slowly- take your time- you kind of zip past everything- but i am grateful for you tutorial- thanks-!

    James

  • thanks, It was hard to fit that all into under 10 mins but will keep that in mind :)

    Alex

  • i couldnt understand half of what she said..damn..

  • Comment removed

  • How do you turn the metronome off?

  • at the bottom right of the screen there will be a blue metronome icon (if it's on, grey if it isn't) - be aware that when you are recording the metronome has a different setting - to change this go into settings > metronome and look at the boxes at the bottom of the page

    Alex

  • Hi there!

I just have a quick question, I was wondering if there was a way to make the playhead snap to the beat like it does in garageband? When i want to put the playhead on the beat I have to zoom in and its annoying...

    Great tutorials by the way!

  • Thanks, yeah you can press period (or full stop) and the comma to go between bars and that will usually snap your playhead right on the bar. You can also set up the snap on the right top of logic's arrange window

    Alex :)

  • Great tutorial and an excellent snort at 38 secs in

  • Thanks - sort of :)

  • Great tutorial for beginners!

  • That was a good video. Usually you see people talking for ages about something with very little information and it seems as though they don't even know much themselves. Cheers

  • Awesome! Cheers

  • Great video, thanks.

  • Hey, just looked at the rear panel on this thing and I reckon you need a miniUSB to USB cable and plug that into the thing that says 'to host'. Then try playing it into logic with any software instrument loaded up. I hope that helps

    Alex

  • Wanna say thank you so much for this tutorial, i've had logic pro on my mac for ages, and i ignore it cause i can't figure a thing out, an equally lazy, Good job, u did get me started.

  • Thanx guys, I haven't been home much recently but I'll make some more soon, It'd be great if you guys want tutorials to tell me what you want, I'd rather do that than my own ideas :)

  • i'd love to see a video on how to remix tracks.

  • now that would be fun :), that will come soon

  • Thank you for the tutorial, have just got Logic Express and feeling very confused with it all... this tutorial was really helpful and got me used to where everything is - I'll be watching all your vids when I get stuck :) x

  • Great tutorial, got me started very well and the keyboard shortcuts were very handy, thanks :-)
