@HeckoX You are correct. Noticed that when i first undertook this project but was trying to keep true to how it was originally presented. I have only seen bats in the old, old b&w shorts (Haunted House was one) and in the episode of the "Old Mill." I may replace one day.
Great job remastering this! I just torrented the full video of this and I am going to take your advice and try remastering it myself using iVideo or Vegas or something like that ;) I figure what the hay, if Disney doesn't want to remaster it then I will just do it myself hehe
Great job remastering this! I just torrented the full video of this and I am going to take your advice and try remastering it myself using iVideo or Vegas or something like that ;)
If they put this out on dvd, disney would make so much money just by the older disney viewers. I watched this every halloween to where it became a tradition. I love them to bring it back so I could make it a tradition for my kids.
This, along with A Disney Halloween, Our Unsung Villains and Disney's Greatest Villains (I know, they're pretty much all the same, lol) needs to be released on special ultra evil edition DVDs soon :)
I wanted to upload Disney's Greatest Villains, but...I think it's too complicated lol...the file's a VOB and won't work properly in Windows Movie Maker.
@fivebearrugs If you are on Facebook, check out Disney Fans for getting classic Disney films and shows on DVD! Were are a group of Disney fans getting together to get Disney to release un-released shows and films on DVD, like this one. Check us out!
They really need to put this back on the Disney channel. I showed my kids this intro and they wanted to watch the show. This was such a great collection of old cartoons.
Great work, that looks awesome! I just got done watching my copy that I downloaded a few years back, and this completely blows it away. How did you do that? Some of that footage is so obscure.
Awesome job cleaning this up. :D This was one of my favorite specials growing up. I wish Disney actually gave a flying flip about stuff like this, but it seems they do the exact opposite of what we request.
Thank you so much for putting this online. I went looking for this to buy for my friends kids and found that this and ALL the others from our childhood are no longer available on VHS and never on DVD. Theres a petiion to get some of these back in DVD format. Sign the petition and we'll see what happens. I know that a few (like ducktales and talespin) have already been put out. A Very cool attempt, but I'm not too hip on the black cat touch. I feel that the original one that was used fit the eerie, less cartoony feel that was in place. Despite that, Thank you for exalting the effort of restoring a piece or animation history that many fans hold very near and dear to their hearts at one of the most wonderful times of the year.
@MacEricG Go to the Ultimate Disney website, go to where it says "old index" and scroll down until you see Snow White (Diamond Edition Blu-Ray). The list is alphabetical.
Yeah thanks for posting this. I'm almost 30 and remember watching this every Halloween without fail. Disney really should do their own job of clean'n this up and getting it out there for their fans. I'd pay good money for it.
The quality of this video is excellent--do you have the rest? The other downloads on here are not so great. My 4 children loved the Disney channel we especially loved watched this show on Halloween after trick-or-treating. We taped it around 1990 and then the video eventually disappeared. The Disney Channel was better in the 1980s--bring back Disney's Halloween Treat for my grandkids!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for doing this! This was a fantastic special and I can't believe that Disney has not remastered it and re aired it! Fantastic work!
Wonderfully done. I am with everyone else...would love to see a remastered full version if you ever feel like it, can't leave it up to Disney, who knows when that will happen.
This video look's great!! i'm 20 n i remember watching this EVERY Halloween in the 90's. "MacEricG" you should do the rest of the movie, the other one's of this are very fuzzy and not so great lol...
I agree. Most of the cartoons on today are AWFUL! Disney has gotten so shitty ever since the Lion King. There's no more classics, nothing creative and education anymore...just stupid shallow sexually suggestive crap.
Seriously, what happened to Disney? I'm barely even 19 yet, and I still see what has happened to classic Disney and what they call Disney programming today. Bring back the classics! Oh, and by the way, love the intro re-mastering. I grew up watching this special and A Disney Halloween every year since I was born. That and The Worst Witch movie and The Night Dracula Saved the World.
I'm a 90's baby, but I remeber they had reruns of this show every year, so thank you for letting me relive my childhood. Fuck Hanna Montanna halloween specials, Disney needs to replay these.
dude! me too! I'm so disappointed with disney for replacing this with shitty shows! this is what made halloween for me as a small kid. brings back a lot of great memories.
I used to watch this before Halloween every year with my sisters. We also loved Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow. They don't make them like this anymore.
Beautiful, I remember when this used to come on every night, it was awesome. I love the old Disney animation because some of it actually looks kind of scary. Aahh it still has the lovely 1980's authentic feel to it, wonderful.
Same here when I saw this in the 90's it became a tradtion for me my bro and sis to watch it every Halloween when it aired but now they stopped Holidays aren't special with disny anymore.
Thank you for uploading this. As a kid my parents where always working late, so my brother and I use to watch these old Halloween themed Disney shows that we taped over and over till they got home.
WOW! Good job! You could probably replace the crappy color-glitched dancing skeletons by finding the original silly syphonies cartoon that Disney did in the 20's. The original cartoon doesn't look like that. Great sound too. WHEN WILL THEY RELEASE THIS!!! they'd make SO MUCH money!!
the skeleton dance looks the way it did because the footage almost rotted to the core when they pulled it out of the vault and at the last minute restored it but that's why it looks the way it does and hey at least it's still there
I LOVE HALLOWEEN! I love the feeling I get when Halloween is near, watch these kind of videos, listen to Halloween type songs, and think about Halloween! I just love this holiday! Thank's for posting this. I enjoy Walt Disney's Halloween movies!
Wow! I remember this from when I was a little kid. It looks real good. Thank you! :-) Disney should release this special on DVD. Don't know what they're waiting for. It WILL make money. A girl can dream.
Is pretty crisp. :) If I'm not mistaken, John Debney went on to do the soundtrack to "The Passion of the Christ." This must have been one of those early gigs where he got his start eh? Pretty nice. Loved this as a kid. Disney should bring it back.
Did you do the restoring on this video? It's amazing, I must say! The pictures are so clear and crisp looking, and it really looks good overall! Thanks for posting this :)
Man oh man...what a total nostalgia rush this is! This song has been rolling around in my head for YEARS! I'm surprised by how well I remembered the lyrics, seeing as I was like 4 when I first saw this!
How did you get all that footage onto your video anyway? I mean I know the footage came from the respective DVDs, but how did you get them uploaded like that?
This really brings me back, and I still have it on VHS; would be nice to transfer this along with my older VHS copies. The image quality is very good, but I'm a little uncertain of the audio, it sounds a little off (or maybe just the comp speakers).

Wow, you did a good job here! I've often wondered what would happen if Disney ever went back into their archives and created digitally remastered versions of stuff, like, say, DTV songs from the 1980s.
Part of the original footage in the special -- which was cleaned up. I believe it is the same as the Super 8 souvenir reel that Disney used to sell at the park.
thanks... I found it in a PC extra feature on the Haunted Mansion movie...
I'm looking into doing (actually I'm going to) do the entire movie at DVD quality footage... i have jsut a few more things to collect and I can begin. I'm also going to stitch in the missing sections from Disney's Halloween Treat... but the problem is my personal VHS copy has the intro missing and I need the audio. It would be no problem, but I need the naration for the title and bald mountain. Could you maybe......
send me just these parts if you have them (highest quality available please)... or even better, would you be at all interested in helping out somehow? I'm going to color all the skeletons properly for the intro (even better than disney's cheap color replacement) and a good overlay on the magic mirror, etc etc.
Where's you get the audio? I also put my own touches on a DVD copy I made but the audio was horrible because the only copy of the song I had in its entirety was really bad quality.
