  • HELLO FOR A TOYOTA CAMRY 5S ENGINE, DOHC, WHERE DO I FIND THE VSS

  • @setlharesenalenoga I really don't know about the Toyota

  • Hit the send button by accident...cool video, ur video technique is spot on...thanks for sharing

  • @sunrockit thanks

  • Cool video, ur

  • @rcaston19

are the speedometer sensors on the trans for all makes and models?

  • @TheAandrew52..... most are on the tail housing of the transmission

  • it would be nice if you mentioned the make and model of your vehicle.

it appears that its a 4wd of some sort.

  • @sixshooter1488 1998 Kenworth T-2000 with a Detroit Diesel and a Super-10 transmission

  • why the urgency to replace it in teh dark - why not wait til next day - is it a jail penalty or sumpin in texas for driving with no speedo - then fair enough!

  • @BiggerThinking1 I was tired of no speedometer.

  • Mite not have to replace it all the time if you fixed that nasty oil leak and used sealed wires.

  • @madhatter5353 I only replaced this sensor once. I later recrimped and used heat shrink on the connection. The oil leak had nothing to do with the wire breaking on the sensor. It was nearly a million miles of constant vibration.

  • You should repair the conector and install a sealed conector on the wires again. You may find you don't have to relace the sensor as often. Your wires are the issue. Ps you should get the oil leak fixed. You don't want the input gear to round off from lack of lube.

  • @Thewiredmechanic A pre-trip inspection is done at the beginning and end of each driving period. The oil leak was from a drain hose on the turbocharger. it was later repaired. No engine oil leak will have an effect on the transmission.

  • that could be the size of your tires. check your manual and make sure u have the right size tires.

  • FOKIUUUUUUU

  • i have a VW polo 99, and the speedometer doesn't work, or sometimes work.

i think that the vehicle speed sensor could be the problem...

    What's your opinion?

Do you know where is the sensor in my vehicle???

Sorry, i'm argentinian and my english sucks

  • it could be the sensor. I would imagine it is somewhere on the transmission.

  • i have a 1998 honda civic dx manual and my speedometer is not working, my chek engine is lighted up too. is replacing the speed sensor the way to fix it ?

  • what do you do with the wires that you snipped off? do they just hang or do you connect them to something??? also, my car will go up to ya know like 55-65,whatever as high as i want, but it drives at about 4-5 rpms...really high and doesn't shift. could this be the problem? someone had mentioned it to me! thanks for your video...btw i love the way you say transmission!!!

  • my speeometer lies to me....is replasing the speed sensor the cure?

  • I doubt it

  • the speed sensor shows that im going 0mph all the time and the gas sensor on my honda accord is also not right how can i fix it

  • If I replace the Speed Sensor on my 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue, will it fix the speed problem? Wnenever I go through a radar detector on Canal Rd. (25MPH speed zone), my speedometer says 25MPH, but the sign that shows "Your Speed:" shows that my car is going 22 MPH with/without the cruise control on.

  • It's probably an error on the positioning of the needle on your speedometer

  • @WinVistaUser2 It's probably an error on the radar system. check it with another car. The radar works by the doppler effect. If you arn't going straight at the radar sensor (i.e. it's on the side of the road instead of the center of your lane), it's going to read below actual speed.

  • My headlights dont work. i changed the bulbs and they still dont work. the fuses and relays r good. i have a 92 prelude. im not sure what i can do?

  • @finzfan84 I don't really have any experience with the car you are describing but...you need to be sure that you have voltage to every component that you mention and a good ground too. You need to invest in aservice manual or repair book, agood test light and a digital volt/ohm meter in order to do proper testing. good luck.

  • thanks!

  • my 2003 silverado 1500 shuts off when i do a tight turn, do you think it could be the so.peed sensor?

  • I would be more likely to suspect something in the steering column. The speed sensor isn't routed through the column.

  • pinche video tan culero, mejor voy al pinche mecanico pa que se lo cambie.

  • idk if you could help me but i how would i find this vehicle speed sensor on my car... its a manual transmission but is there a website where it shows the diagrams of where to find it?

  • it's usually near the output shaft. I'd reccommend that you purchase a repair manual for your particular vehicle. it will tell you the location of parts like that.

  • @rzorNvme normally its on the back of the transmission near the firewall sometimes it can be on the back lower part of the trans as well

  • This is an awesome video!! Thanks so much for posting it. I do as much of my own auto repair as possible. There is always the stress of figuring out to fix something I've never dealt with before and this has really eased that for me!

  • where do you find those things?

  • KW dealership

  • I think you are awesome. Thanks for the video.

  • actually my fuel pump just got replaced, then i was out on the hiway and the speedo failed, i could not get into drive so i was travelling with huge rpms, and no speedo, i'm guessing its the speed sensor, anyways imma get me a backyard mech. to change it up, thanx for the vid.

  • god damn looks like you gotta tranny leak

  • My O/D OFF panel light keeps flashing on and off and my tranny starts acting up. I have to floor the gas to get some speed. Will changing the speed sensor fix this problem?

  • That's what I like, a driver who actually has simple tools and is able to fix things himself.

  • any chance in giving me some help wizzard, i have replaced the sensor on the gearbox and did a computer diagnosis and still it is pointing to the sensor as being a problem. any ideas i would appriciate your help

  • yes, maybe. Inside the transmission is a star shaped "reluctor" ring that spins with the transmission tailshaft. It is held fast with pressure fron the yoke. If the nut retainting the yoke becomes loose, the reluctor ring will not spin with the tailshaft. It will remain staionary and cause the speedometer to be ineffective. Thsi may not be your problem but... try this, remove the sensor, put a screwdriver in the hole and see if you can turn the ring. if so, tighten the yoke nut. good luck.

  • i didnt know that it might be possible to tighten it, if it is loose from the outside, i thought that you would have to replace/ repair the whole gearbox mechanism, i will try it thank you for your sound advice

  • just remove the driveshaft and tighten the yoke.

  • ah man u turn off the carrier? oh well its not tk so its cool. yep i had a time where my speedometer screwed up frequently.
