  • hey mann nice jam, im wondering what's the difference between american specials and japanese teles?

and where will u class japanese teles?

eg) mexican, american special, american standard, american deluxe, american custom.

    where will u put japanese?

  • where can i get this?

  • can you please play something other than funky jazz....i love the sounds you get but you make every guitar you play sound the same...just constructive criticism

  • I can watch this man play all day, wish I were half the picker!!!!!!

  • u play so consistant and so good on any guitar

  • I wonder what post production Greg does on these vids, the sounds are just too good for a guitar in an amp in a front room......

  • @Danthehorse no, post production - the live sund goes direct to the camera. There is a bit reverb from the Behringer Mixer

  • @GregsGuitars Well then hats off to you, superb sound.

  • @GregsGuitars We that know you, know your integrity and talent. Don't even worry about it, brother. Several hundred thousand people love your work and it's going to do nothing but get bigger and better. I really like your blues shows, too. Michael, a friend in California

  • I n your hands all guitars are goods even an Eko.

Congratulations you are a fantastic player.

  • Is there a big difference between playing vintage 7.5 neck and smal vintage frets and modern 9.5 neck with bigger 6105 frets?

  • IM OLD GREGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ed2000888 nice one centurion .. mighty boosh lol. old gregg,s one hellof a player isn;t he

  • Sounds great!! cool guitar. Keep up the good work.

  • Monster

  • this kids a prick lol. act your age and not like a spoiled little brat. ;D

  • from the comments he has replied to, greg seems like an asshole

  • @cjdavda

I was thinking the same thing.

  • how much do you like the Texas specials. im thinkin about getting them for my tele

  • @sbvikings30 Texas Specials in a Tele? Doesen't get any better!!! I have a MiJ 2008/ 2009 Fender Telecaster TL52-TX, the same as Greg's using in this vid, and it is by far the best Tele I've ever owned! Paired with my Fender Bassman '59 LTD it covers all grounds!

  • Outstanding tone! Do you have an opinion on the G&L Telecasters?

  • Damn man, those are some spicy licks. could you teach me that? XD

  • Hey! I love this tele!

  • Fantastic!! I love your Telecaster!... great sound!

  • nice work greg! I had just purchased a 52 mij tele and was wondering how it might sound before it arrives. got it on ebay for a crazy price. does yours also have a custom shop logo on the back of the headstock? just wondering if you had any info on the japan custom shop.

  • Man, I really admire your playing and collection of guitars.

  • is there a massive difference between the japan one and the american one

  • what are your settings on the diablo?

  • generic guitar center tone !! sounds sweet like pancakes , Modern blues : ) i like old RAW shit sir, you need some sand in your tone or something, great guitar playing other wise *** SOLID stars who cares : )

  • really great - i have the 52 hr

  • Chord progression?

  • @cofads Guitar teacher?

  • @GregsGuitars hahahahah best response ever.

  • @GregsGuitars

    Dont be an ass

  • @Buddydegroot I will try

  • @cofads It's just a Bb7 chord and it's available to download from Berklee's website somewhere.

And Greg, I appreciate what you do on here and I know you have hundreds of emails from 10yo kids asking about which picks they should use, but when someone asks a simple question like this it doesn't hurt to just answer it. Instead you decided to not answer it, then come back and post another comment, where as if you answered him in the first place, you wouldn't have wasted your own time.

  • @GregsGuitars yeah it might be a lil heavier.. i love the way yours sound though, thank you so much for your answer!!

  • Can anybody tell me, how he gets that warm, woody, jaazy sound out of Texas Specials??? These would be one of the last pickups I would choose in order to get that kind of sound. I´m looking for sweet and mellow sounding pickups for my 2009 American Standard Tele, but never thought of the Texas Specials... How ´bout you?

  • @danblue1000 try dimarzio area T they seem to sound warm without being that muddy,Ive heard a few people play them on here and thats what im getting for my telecaster.Or a twisted tele neck pickup from the custom shop.Or just try taking the stupid chrome tone killer cover off.

  • @danblue1000

they are very versatile- good investment

  • The 2mm picks he uses give an incredible warmer tone... Try them!

  • @danblue1000 He's very talented. That is how he gets the sound out of the Texies!

  • Just got one of these direct from japan, amazing build quality!

The pickups are cloth wire texas specials and really deliver the goods! The only thing is that the wiring is pretty shoddy, i re-wired mine and WOW, it was like night and day!

  • this could very well be my ideal dream guitar. although i'm smitten by the deluxe player's strat... idk man.

i can kinda tell by the vid that the texas special pups are pretty wild sounding. but how do they sound to you? are they holdin up?

  • excellent as always

  • Japanese stuff is always best imo :)

    (girls especially! :D)

  • I got your point pal! Totally agree with you!

  • nice playing man, tasty stuff.

  • wow, die tele ist ja traumhaft. Dein jazziges Solo finde ich noch besser :-) Traum Duo .

    Gruß Matti

  • Geat style and touch Gregor! I love the tele 52! Tha

  • Very nice!

  • hey man i have a squier tele custom II is there a lot of differences between this and the tele custom II???

  • The Squire has different wood, Pickups, Electronics, etc. The only thing that have similar is the body shape.

  • @paion I believe that yours has P90 pickups, which are a little different than these. I also think yours has an agathis body, this one is ash, so yours probably sounds heavier.

  • Fine playing Gregor

Have you tried the Pacifica Mike Stern, its like a good tele with a bit more welly

  • This your Fender Telecaster 52 is a made in japan or made in usa? its a very very cool sound..i like! thaks!.

  • this is a japanese

  • how much do these things go for? I have a chance to get one that is like brand new for $600. sounds amazing, plays amazing, and doesnt have a mark on it.

  • I've played a fender tele that was going for about 600 in the shop, maybe a bit less I cant remember, but that was new ^^ sounded great aswell

  • Awesome tone and great chops - I think I'll switch to bass.

  • Great playing as always Gregor. I'm thinking of picking up a new Tele MIJ 62 with the Specials. What do think of the guitar? How does it compare to the Americans? THX.

  • They are good - both....

  • Thanks for the input and taking the time. I often refer to your clips to hear how certain guitars sound. Thanks again.

  • what style are this?

  • Hey Greg, where did you get this backing track? Can you PM me a link or post it? Or email it? Would be greatly appreciate it. Can't wait to try my hand at this groove.

  • You know what, i think you have some John Scofield touch. Great...

  • the greatest compliment is that you sound like yourself, whatever guitar you play.

  • do you recommend these pickups or the vintage nocaster

  • I like them both. These have a little bit more power

  • Beautifully silky playing. Well done.

  • I just bought your CD Sweet Rain on ebay !

    Very nice player !

  • Seriously nice playing and tone Greg.

  • thanks for your quick reply.

do you think its worth the extra money for

    a usa one?

    james

  • It's just a different feel. It's no better or worse. The japanese non-exports are held in massively high regard and are known to be at least as good as the American's, if not better.

If it's an export modal however, I wouldn't bother..

  • great playing and guitar. are the specs the

same as on the usa one?

    james

  • no, it feels different (laquer, neck shaping, Pickups etc)

  • Try both and judge based on your likings.

  • Hey Greg, Love your all playing! Just beautiful! By the way, looks like you have had installed a specific kind of bridge saddles on all your Tellies. Do that make any difference and how is it? Is there any difference in sound quality or playablity in American Fender and Japanese? I really appreciate if you could possibly give me some answer. Thank you!

  • Thanks for your kind words! I play brass or steel saddles on the teles, but I don't care if they are Fender, Wilkinson or whatever. If you have a good older japanese Fender it could be as good as a american. The feel is different. I like it

  • Thank you for your response. I've just bought a Japanese fender tele, not old one, but I think that you're quite right. Now I don't really care about the brand or make. Just gotta be batter at playing and musically nice. It's good enough just as long as in tune, right? Thanks again.

  • Wundervoller Sound, wundervolle Gitarre und ein "Profi-Blueser". PERFEKT!!!!

  • Nice playing there, great tone. What is the amp?

    J

  • 1969 Fender Vibrolux Reverb

  • Hey Gregor,

    wie immer so cool ...

    Viele Grüße

    Uli (Larry)

  • Ouch. I guess you can bench press with just your fingers.

  • What's in that jar? Is it something you smear on the frets to get that tone? Honey? Butter? I think we should be told...

  • no, I don't smear nothing... I use 0.11ths strings and a medium/high action on the guitars - nothing else..

  • that sounds fucking amazing man, I am seriously jealous of that beautiful wet tangy smooth overdriven tone! agh I want a telecaster lol

  • Immer wieder genial.

    Gracias

  • nix verstehn.... sorry, please write in english

  • Your collection of guitars is immense, are they all your ones?

Where I can obtain this backing track?

Thank you I Have used a translator, does it(he,she) cost(suit) you this way?

    Thanks!!

  • es the chicken de jaco pastorius..jeje

  • Great tone!

In your opinion how close is this MIJ '52 Telecaster to the USA made '52 Telecaster?

  • Soundwise this guitar is much better than a lot of US-52-Reissues I had played before! workmanship is perfect, guitar feels good and plays great!

  • I love my MIJ '62 Tele. There's just something about it that's better in every way. No wonder they don't want them exported.

  • Somewhere...Larry Carlton weeps.

  • shure... his guitar gently weeps... :-)

  • Naw, I'm pretty sure it's more of a whine.

  • so, what do you think it is exactly?

  • Whatever it is, you sure play it well

  • B flat why my favorite key. good chops man
