They just put it to Halo 3 so it was shorter.

Hay ive seen that Ufo to and i have 2 ideas of what it could be. 1 is when i saw it I was about 210 degrees to the tower and I was inside the light so the you would see the ending of the light. 2 it may a ufo that bungie made whene go outside the map.
