  • Great videos. Can you do one on foregrip selection?

  • Hey Sootch,

are you sure thats a blackhawk pouch? i really trust your judgement, but the extra strap material on the back reminds me a lot of condor. normally those straps are directly attached to the puch itself, not connected by a thinner piece of webbing. just a thought

  • any thoughts on stripper clip pouch variations? i'm looking for accessories for my sks.

    thanks sootch. ;)

  • Great video bud!

  • DAMN REPUBLICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I got ten of those for six off ebay.the first 3 mag holder

  • I got ten of those for six off ebay

  • I'm looking to buy an AR-15 but Im on a very tight budget. What is the cheapest upper/lower/parts I could buy to build a very cheap AR 15?

  • @jkatz44 To get a good tell on that subject go to AR 15.com and join. There are areas for home builders. If you look there you will get a lot of others thoughts. There is places to buy and sell as well there ....Best, yl

  • I wouldn't worry about velcro noise....I'm sure they heard the last 28/30 rounds you just fired.

  • about the black howk pouche you say its loud, ok yeah. but normally if you are out in the field you already have a mag in your gun, and if you have to reload you arent trying to stay quite! so that point is stupid

  • 5.11 makes great double pouches for only about $15 each. I have a pair (4 mags) on a Tactical Tailor Mini MAV and they look and work great. I think the cover is important to protect your rifle from the magazines and to to keep the gun quiet while moving. You don't want metal on plastic rubbing while you move. They also keep your ammo clean when you go prone.

  • i PREFER to use military suppliers..they're QUALITY and in expensive due to their surplus nature...

ONE THING to know about the 3 mag SDS shingle is that they WILL NOT snap closed over ANYTHING but a STANDARD SIZE 330 RD MAG, i.e. the military aluminum 'contract mags'. they won't close over the larger tapco or pmags.

  • @Sixthick66

    typo. .

obv. i meant a 30 rd mag, not 330 rd.

if you are running the standard milsurp 30 rd aluminum mags then the 3 mag shingle sootch showed is the VERY BEST of all shown ...

  • Actualy they are not high capacity magazines, they are standard capacity, since the M-16/AR-15 was originally designed for use with a 20/30 round magazine. The Stoner AR-10 was originally designed for use with a 20 round magazine. Please don't help perpetuate the misconception on magazine capacity(It frightens the sheep) . Good video, good advice.

  • tactical tailor not taylor

  • for that model made by blackhawk, you can tuck the flaps behind the inserted mags(though this does make pulling out mags slightly tougher), so then basically they're now like the open top mag pouches.

  • do you have any vests?? or just pouches

  • ugh lucky folks in the south...Don't complain mag pouch cost $40, that's what we paid up here in Canada for a 5 ROUND Magazine. (30 Rounder pinned to 5 to comply with the weird laws)

  • Howdy sootch00

Thanks for all the uploads on your channel.

I have found a good deal on some 20rd AR-15 mags but I am having trouble locating any 20 rd mag pouches. The best I could find were used Vietnam era surplus w/ the old ALICE clips...

Do you know of any company offering 20rd MOLLE compatible mag pouches ???

    Thanks for any info.

  • I use those US issue ones that hold three mags...you can stack the mags in it and keep the pouch to the side in a way that lets you keep the pouch out of the way when laying down but you can still pull out your mags very fast.

  • @HunterBeier. I use the same setup on my vest. I dont like going prone and having a bunch of mags pressing into my sternum and that arrangement also makes for a wobblly prone

  • if so how much did you pay for it and do you like it...i ordered on on midway for 60 bucks but it gets great reviews for being low-end

  • hey don...is that a utg hand guard?

  • good info!!! Thank you for the vid

  • Most mags have sharp corners and are heavy when loaded and will wear holes in your pockets. Mag pouches let you carry more mags, more comfortably.

Hope that answers your question, unless you were just being snide.

  • Thanks for the clarification. Most excellent comments.

  • how much is a gun?? let say, G36C??

  • Hey i found a specialty defense mag pouch like the one you show and it says "This pouch IS NOT Magpul 5.56mm Mag Assist, Ranger Plate, L-Plate, P-Mag compatible". All of my magazines are pmags, so would you be able to confirm this if you have a pmag? thanks

  • Also I want Pouches for my glok Pistol

kinda F.B.I or U.S. special forces uses

Please reply to my both another comment given below

  • Awesome info!!

  • What is blackHawk's price

    is it costly??

  • Hey Sootch, What Do U Personally Prefer, M16A4 Or AK-47? Plese Reply! Thnaks : ]

  • I own both guns....The AK-47 is more durable. The AR-15 is more accurate. My main "go to" rifle is the AR-15 because I .want to hit what I'm aiming at and in a SHTF scenerio, .5.56 ammo and parts will be more avaliable. That's just my preference.

  • @sootch00 Wow Really?

Your Very Lucky I Just Love How The AK-47 Sounds!

  • @sootch00 Unfortunately we will be taking them off of our dead brothers who insist on fighting for the corrupt government!

  • Good video,I got a set of brand new USGI MOLLE gear for $48 shipped from govsurplusstore (d0t) c0m

  • Hey scootch.

Have you ever had you use one of your guns forhome/self defense?

  • You need to check out my "Why I Own a Gun" Videos :)

  • Will do.

  • @sootch00 i just bought a bushmaster carbon.WHAT KIND OF AMMO SHOULD I USE? will the cheap steel case damage the gun? i wanna buy atleast a 500 round case and i saw that you have alot of pmc thats some cheap stuff too. but the wolf ammo is cheaper. WHAT DO YOU SAY?

  • That was a very professional review! Thanks! :-)

  • What kind of handguards or rail covers are those? I really like the way your AR15 looks.

  • Hey Bro- They are UGA handgaurds. They're well made and make a steady platform. The jury is still out considering need vs weight. Yeah, I also like the way they look :) Thanks~

  • Thank you

  • Thanks for all your great videos, I love 'em !!!

  • Perfect,,,

  • Great video sootch!

I'd just like to remind everyone that these are standard capacity magazines (20/30 round) and not high-capacity (50/75/100+ round drums/cmags).

  • Nice review, I was looking into getting a decent vest sometime and these pouch tips should help.

  • Awsome work done

  • oh ok. sweet then i guess i'll buy more M16 mags then thanks :)

  • lool. Hm my surplus store sells old style Army M-16 mags. the metal ones. would those fit the current AR-15? otherwise I will buy tons of them lol after buying 500rds of course :)

  • Oh, Yeah, the surplus mags are fine. Just check for damage but otherwise smooth as butter.

  • i have the same UTG rail protectors on my DPMS lo pro classic i sure love them..........great review by the way good info i really like the taylor that you showed i think i will look into a few

  • dude u have so much mags :O very nice :)

  • That's only about a half of them. 15 years of picking them up at the gun show adds up. Now I'm buying P-Mags! LOL!

    THanks~

  • Sootch00 ... excellent review! I don't own an AR-15 ... yet, but this is a very helpful, insightful review. Please keep it up with the reviews of these accessories. There is so much out there that it can be very confusing as to what is a good product and what is not. Again, great job!

  • Great video! Keep it up!

  • Great Vid Sootch .... you've done a video on carrying SKS clips and now AR mags .... how about something for us AK guys ..... just a thought .... keep up the good work.

  • Thanks Bro- Oh Yeah, I'm putting together an AK set-up video, but I need a couple of more items. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks if not before. I need to have my AK-47 ready to go. Take care~

  • Thax for the great vid! Good job!

  • Another great review and lots of good info. Some of the only down sides I've found with the BlackHawk and 5.11 mag pouches is they will hold 2 standard USGI mags but its very hard to get two PMAG's in them sometimes. You are right about buying a good piece of gear from the get go.

    5/5

  • I picked up a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 MOE which came with a rebate for 5 extra Magpul magazines. Your video got me thinking about how I want to store them when I head out to the range or go hunting.

  • As always, outstanding my friend. 5/5

  • A.R 15s are flying off the shelf these days plus the prices are gitting higher on them

  • Nice video Don, I like it.

Now and then in the video you don't finish the sentence you're saying (edited away). Please don't rush the video, you say very usefull things, no need to hurry. We'll keep listening. Make it a two part video if necessery.

Keep up the good work, your account is one of my favourites on youtube.

  • Thanks- Yeah, I do edit out stuff but most of the time its when I make mistakes or ramble on about something. I really like to make it fit into the 10 minute time frame because Part 2 videos get about half the views and I want as many people to get it as possible. I actually slipt this video into two parts so watch for an upcoming mag video. I'll try to do better with my editing and not merge words together or "blah blah blah" too much! LOL! Take care~

  • Another great video, Don!

Should I just stick stick my purse pouch? =)

  • LOL! Yeah, just stick your magazines in your purse.... make sure it's really good quality :)

    You're funny....

  • thanks! when running with a big bag of bullets, its good to have a bag well to support the ups and downs of running. my cheep dam bag totaly gave out and there i was. had to fill up all my pockets-everything, thanks, great vid..

  • How about a vid on vests and how to configure them?

  • standard capacity?

  • full capacity works for me... I hate the term high capacity!!!!

  • Well noted :)

  • Normal Capacity!

  • are there any pouches that use magnets to stay closed, like how cell phone pouches stay closed

  • Not that I know of. Seems like it would work though. Thanks~

  • Does any of your Pouches hold shotgun shells? I am get a Mossberg 590 for Chirstmas I am looking for some good pouches from my shotgun shells.

  • I want a drunken Santa to bring me a leather bandoleer for my 12GA. 00 shells.

  • Send him my way after he leaves your house! LOL!

  • Very wise video! Different strokes for different folk's! 5*!

BTW... I didnt get this video posted on my sub update??? IDK why!

  • I'm an AK guy, but great info nonetheless, thanks!

  • Great vid. God bless

  • all of my stuff is condor but i havent heard of specialty defense. and im finding alot on there website i like. great video.

  • Check out Ebay for good prices on surplus Specialty Defense pouches. I found a bunch last night. Thanks!

  • Sootch - Always good quality reviews and advice from you channel. I especially like your presentation and attention to detail. Good advice to always choose the best quality one can afford.

  • Another great review, thanks

  • You make some of the most informative video's on youtube. Thanks! Do you think you could do one on configuring your web gear, harness, alice pack? I have tons of mix match stuff from all over the world, and am trying to incorperate. Thanks if you can.

  • Sootch showed AR magazines... PMAG's are great, but if youre on a budget, Military 'contract' mags are cheaper,BUT I would suggest swapping the standard, black magazine followers ( the plastic part the ammo sits on in the mag) for the " improved follower",( IT PREVENTS THE FOLLOWER TIPPING forward causing a jam) usually green, (sometimes gray) inexpensive at about $1-2 ea. , and easy to swap out. a FEW DOLLARS SAVED IS A FEW DOLLARS SAVED!

THANKS SOOTCH FOR YOUR GOOD WORK!

  • Thanks Bro~ Yes, green followers are great. I've been replacing my followers but still have more to go. .

  • i totally agree with you, quality over configuration. great job.

  • A Patriot on a budget can outfit themselves fairly well for a modest sum if they aren't worried about looking ' tacti-COOL'...

An older LC1 or LC2, or LBV 1/2 can be had for less than 20 bucks new if you look. Mag pouches for these can be had as low as $2.58!! These will be the older mil-surp ones Sootch just showed you ( with the ALICE clip and fold over top. Look for a company called Army gear (dot net) for cheap mil-surp.

This stuff isnt 'sexy' but its proven and tough and cheap.

  • "There are millions of M16,AR-15 owners out there" but NONE in the UK,though we can buy the mag pouches and the mags,oh and dummy rounds (Mad).Unless you belong to a "Club" you can't own a black plastic airsoft m16 only a luminous colour one.You can't own a deact one either, unless your a theatre or film company.

  • You can have ARs in the UK. With the proper permit of course. They are single shot ARs with the gas tube plugged up.

Also I believe the UK has a 5 shot mag restriction.

  • Only after trying to get a licence, having to jump through hundreds of hoops,IF you could fnd a range to shoot it on,after 6months probation, plus you would be looking at £2K for a new AR,single shot only, what good is that?takes away the point of having one.plus the licence fee, club fee, range fee etc etc etc.Arundel Militaria want nearly £2K for deact! restricted sale only, not that I would want a deact.

  • That is why people over there need to fight the politicians who made up those silly laws.

You could move away to another country.

  • As always, great video !!
