  • My God,Kevin Stevens was one of the greatest power forwards ever. If only he didn't have that horrible injury in 1993. He was a bull back then. I miss those early 90's Pens teams.

  • My favorite player of all time.

  • It helps to play on a line with Jagr and Lemieux in there prime.

  • Kevin Stevens = greatest Penguins power forward ever.

  • man lemieux and jagr were dominant in this game

  • stevens sucked when he was in boston

  • Boston sucked when he was in Boston.

  • boston sucked the year after he was there, they made the playoffs the half year he was there then they got rick tocchet for him

  • this is the pens team I remember and fell in love with. no team will ever be that good again.

  • This series is likely Mario at his most dominant. He already had torched the Caps, missed most of the Rangers series due to Graves' cheap slash but came back and just killed the Bruins and Hawks. Utter domination. Good Pens team but no way do they win in 91 and win so easily in 92 without Mario. It's no mystery that Stevens' production went deep south when Lemieux wasn't around and then Stevens was traded I think to LA.

  • the pens' trainer was shocked that lemieux even returned to the playoffs in 92, let alone the next series after graves broke his hand

im telling you, there is no way to understand how tough this guy was with the injuries and pain he played through while putting up the numbers that he did, especially in 96, when the NHL took a turn for the worse with the clutch and grab trapping styles of play that hindered his abilities

  • I think Stevens never was the same after that freak hit in the last game against the Islanders in the 93 playoffs. It's a shame that his whole career wasn't as good as his peak years, he would certainly be a good HoF candidate if that were the case.

  • That hit certainly ended his prime too soon, because he was a dominant player from 1990-93. He did well in 93-94 too but afterward never played like America's answer to Cam Neely after that. He was probably #2 in Conn Smythe consideration in 1991 but his career was not only sidetracked by the unfortunate face-to-the-ice injury but drug problems as we're aware of (the crack with a hooker incident was a real low point).
