  • This is so 80s :0)

  • I love EC! But was this near the end of his dependency on the booze?

I've read his autobiography and he gave up all the gear not long after Conor was born, and especially after the tragedy.

I've always noticed in this vid that his good mate Phil Collins has a look in his eye of, "mate, I thought you were off the gear, but I'll stick by you". Top drum work by PC by the way. EC is fully sober since around then and helping others at his Crossroads rehab which is great.

  • @BSaxTop i'm sure you're wrong with saying the backing trio are the''londonbeat'', this concert was in 1987, LondonBeat didn't have their 1st single till 1988, so why would Eric Clapton invite an unknown band to sing backing lyrics,,, plus ''LondonBeat'' would've been a lot younger, NOT middle aged ,, i still believe it's 3 members of THE FOUR TOPS...

  • Behind The Mask をやるんだ^^驚き^^

  • look how the bassist grabbed the bass hahaha!

  • im not entirely sure, but i think the the three male backing singers are the "FOUR TOPS" ,,,,,, I believe one of them died before this concert , hence why there are only three of them

  • @MrVinniboy According to theonlyantony, the backing trio is LONDONBEAT...

  • Phil Collins is such a great drummer.

  • I have Crows Feet?''

  • My 70s/80s musical heroes all in one place - doesn't get better than that!

  • This has been one of my very songs...I listen to it over and over and over...

  • Get ON with it! Fecking BLISTERING version. Cheers!

  • As much as i love mark King - Larry Graham is the inventor of the slapping technique, which radically expanded the tonal palette of the bass, he himself refers to the technique as "Thumpin' and Pluckin'."

  • There it is: behind the mask!

I even never wear one! Why should I?

I were confronted to a lot of ugly mask-wearing tug of war...there was not much left when they dropped it.

  • phil collins on broken down 4 piece kit... not many shots of Mark Brzezcki (big country) who was the house band drummer for a few of these shows.... and much better drummer than collins!

  • Its Dave Markee not Mark King

  • that's mark king mate - surely the bass is a give away?

  • Its Dave Markee on bass. He played for Clapton for several years.

  • I stand corrected. Its King and not Markee

  • amazing song, but too fast

  • That's the way the song is played. Phillinganes wrote and played it at the same tempo when he released it to the dance charts in the mid 80's

  • Very powerful song and music.Luv the beat.Never new ec sang this till i got a video tape online of his greatest concerts.

  • Does anyone know who the other guitar player with the white jacket & white basebal cap is. If so please let me know.

  • Midge Ure

  • Thanks, appreciate it, have been trying to find out for years. Originally Thought it was Pete Townsend

  • The band is introduced in another video from this concert posted with the title "Prince's Trust All Stars band - Running in the family"

  • Not sure, but eliminate Dave Edmunds from your list of possibilities. He is the guy in the gray suit.next to him

  • I've never been able to wrap my mind around the fact that this is a video of Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Jools Holland, and Mark King playing a song with lyrics by Michael Jackson that was originally a Yellow Magic Orchestra song. Sheer genius.

  • @Rmelcher77 Chances are it's Armani! ;) In the 80's, Clapton dripped in Armani. Saw him live in 1989. Again, wearing Armani! :)
