I love EC! But was this near the end of his dependency on the booze?
I've read his autobiography and he gave up all the gear not long after Conor was born, and especially after the tragedy.
I've always noticed in this vid that his good mate Phil Collins has a look in his eye of, "mate, I thought you were off the gear, but I'll stick by you". Top drum work by PC by the way. EC is fully sober since around then and helping others at his Crossroads rehab which is great.
@BSaxTop i'm sure you're wrong with saying the backing trio are the''londonbeat'', this concert was in 1987, LondonBeat didn't have their 1st single till 1988, so why would Eric Clapton invite an unknown band to sing backing lyrics,,, plus ''LondonBeat'' would've been a lot younger, NOT middle aged ,, i still believe it's 3 members of THE FOUR TOPS...
im not entirely sure, but i think the the three male backing singers are the "FOUR TOPS" ,,,,,, I believe one of them died before this concert , hence why there are only three of them
these cunts look like they are having a whale of a time i especially like the back up trio cool as fuck! did anyone else hear clapton fucking up on the outro guitar solo? shame on you eric?
As much as i love mark King - Larry Graham is the inventor of the slapping technique, which radically expanded the tonal palette of the bass, he himself refers to the technique as "Thumpin' and Pluckin'."
phil collins on broken down 4 piece kit... not many shots of Mark Brzezcki (big country) who was the house band drummer for a few of these shows.... and much better drummer than collins!
Did you know Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins all collaborated together on"Behind the Mask" back in 1983? (Jackson wrote the tune and lyrics along with Chris Mosdell and Ryuichi Sakamoto.)
I've never been able to wrap my mind around the fact that this is a video of Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Jools Holland, and Mark King playing a song with lyrics by Michael Jackson that was originally a Yellow Magic Orchestra song. Sheer genius.
the backing singers are class ,them guys back paul young for years and all so did very well solo remember the band london beat and the song i've been thinking about you ,well this is them .
the backing singer's here are paul young's backing singer's and went on to become the band london beat remember the song i've been thinking about you .pure class

There it is: behind the mask!
I even never wear one! Why should I?
I were confronted to a lot of ugly mask-wearing tug of war...there was not much left when they dropped it.

@Rmelcher77 Chances are it's Armani! ;) In the 80's, Clapton dripped in Armani. Saw him live in 1989. Again, wearing Armani! :)
