Decriminalization won't effect the drug cartels because they will still be making money from selling it. The only way to be rid of them is to legalize it federally in both countries and wait 3 or 4 years, then we'll see the cartels crumble.

Heroin is semi-natural, it only only synthesized to increase its strength but they have natural less powerful versions of heroin as well. In UK it is now a class C drug, although traficking and posession of big quantities could result in imprisonment. No deaths directly caused by cannabis ever, anywhere in the world. A lethal dose is simply unachievable. An unsafe dose of cannabis is about 90 pounds, a therapeutic dose is maybe half a gram. Decriminalization won't effect the drug cartels because they will still be making money from selling it. The only way to be rid of them is to legalize it federally in both countries and wait 3 or 4 years, then we'll see the cartels crumble.

If you think about it... All of the harmful drugs are MANMADE... Heroine, cocaine, meth, ALCOHOL, etc... Weed, all you have to do is cut it off the plant and let it dry. Done! No extracting, no adding chemicals, etc. Cocaine wasn't bad either back then, because no one extracted it. They would just chew the fresh leaves and everything would be ok. God did not put alcohol on the earth. Some guy mix sugar, water, and yeast to make it. This new generation of people will realize how safe it is!

Heroin is semi-natural, it only only synthesized to increase its strength but they have natural less powerful versions of heroin as well. I wont comment on the God part, but alcohol is a very, very, naturally occurring substance on this planet. Mixing it with water, sugar, etc. is just to add flavor.

That is why normal liquor can't exceed above 18% or so because at that level the Bacteria that produce the Alcohol die because of the alcohol %, if you want to have like 40% alcohol you will have to distill it But there is nothing wrong with your comment, just pointing it out for people who maybe didn't knew it.

I'm all for legalization. If it were legal tomorrow it wouldn't be soon enough. However, I do think we'll see increased violence across the border until local supplies of marijuana become available. If they maintain the illegality of bringing it accross the border, the cartels will wither from the lack of money especially after you can buy a pack of joints at your local headshop.

In Europe
In the Netherlands it is legal to consume pot in specific pubs.
In Spain it is legal to grow your own plants (up to a limit) and smoke them (although it is forbidden to sell or buy the stuff)
In portugal, United kingdom, germany, Belgium, Austria and the Czech republic, pot is decriminalised.
In France, Finland and Ireland it is illegal but small amounts are often tolerated.
Are these european countries crazy? does all that legal pot ended up with their way of life? NO

Also a goverment prof told the goverment it is harmless, they fired him. I would say its not actually as decriminalised as you say

In UK it is now a class C drug, although traficking and posession of big quantities could result in imprisonment. It is unlikely that such penalty is applyed for small quantities, for which police cautions are usually issued. I don't give up, first the european market, then the chunnel, maybe tomorrow the Euro and the marihuana. Perhaps we will even make Europeans of you! ;-)

here you go. this seems to be a study w/out bias that may be an interesting source...
..research undertaken at the University of Mississippi's Potency Monitoring Project[41] has found that average THC levels in cannabis samples between 1975 and 2007 have increased from 4% in 1983 to 9.6% in 2007.
Mind that they refer to averages. Herb today is known to exceed 15%. The 4% in '83 is likely the average of 3-5%. But the average 9.6% would be average taken from samples ranging from 3-15+%.
