This is exactly what I was saying. The music is really what should come first because, afterall, that is what this is - music. These imagery's and gimmicks get too carried away whether bands do this intentionally for notoriety or not. To me, it's about the music,not the spikes and leather and warpaint or even the lyrical content so much.

Someone above mentioned how this music creates trouble but I find those who listen to the sex filled disco that was shown at the end are actually MORE violent!

Steve Tucker is a better vocalist IMO. His voice is forceful and more violent. As on the Heretic album.

David Vincent had the best vocal sound on "Covenant." That was awesome, after that he sucks. Tucker is a great vocalist, the best album with him is "Formulas Fatal to the Flesh"

Great Comment I totally agree i think many ppl undervalue Tuckers skills . he sounds like a fucking lion, david vincent sounded great on covenant and before, but domination wasnt as good to me, i didnt like the vocal style he used. some ppl think david sounds the same in all his recordings but he clearly doesnt

I always thought the album somehow...has no soul and just sounds like empty to me at least. To me their best will always be Altars of Madness and Covenant...

The influence of punk on black metal was and is HUGE and that is a GREAT thing.

Black metal is nothing without melody, and where do the melodies come from? Classical and folk... black metal isn't just an extremer version of punk, black metal fuses many different styles together. Some black metal has clear black sabbath and doom influences, other black metal has a lot of grindcore influences. Black metal is too big and evolved to say that it all came from punk.

true that.. but my point is PUNK influenced the first wave of black metal.. and they (first BM bands) influence the other types of black metal like dimmu and and all those (i dont like dimmu!!) besides i dont like punk at its pure form.. I rather listen to Chamber music..

Black metal was only partially influenced by punk, most notably the first Bathory release. But I'm tired of noobs who think of black metal as just one genre in which all the bands sound the same. Punk's influence on black metal is horribly overrated especially if you consider that all it eventually led to was crappy three-chord black metal bands. Hail classical music.
