@lovelittlecats Yes, I just raise an eyebrow when people complain about immigrants, and they want "Britain to be British". Don't they understand that this country was built on immigration? About the weather, England has continental weather so it fluctuates a lot and tends to be very random. The general pattern seems to be very hot during late spring, rainy during most of summer, then very hot again toward the beginning of autumn, mid autumn will either be very rainy, or crisp and cold, it won't usually get REALLY cold until january/february, but it can be very unpredictable, for example lately we've had fairly warm and dry days, then snow the next day, then ice and frost.
@DeadlyAntenna As for temperatures, (this is based on weather in the south west of England) in summer the highest you can probably expect would be around 30 degrees celcius, usually stays between 15 degrees to 25, although it could be colder. In winter temperatures have been known to drop to about -10 degrees, but generally will be about -6 at night and -3 during the day. Today for example there is snow on the ground but it's only about.. 0/-1 degrees.
One of the misconceptions about the UK is that the weather is always cold. It's not always. The UK has a very varried weather pattern. It can be hot, I believe the highest recorded temp in the UK is 38C/100F. It might suprise you to know that the UK has the second highest number of tornados in the world.
It is unbelievably difficult to cover all the themes that compose our culture here in Britain. It's a complicated entanglement of fascinating sub-cultures and has delivered the some of the most interesting people on the planet. I think you put that across rather well, I'm bloody impressed and absolutely delighted to see you here mate, great video.
Thanks, Now back to the issue, 2 Portions of Egg Fu Yung, 2 portions of Bamboo shoots in Water Chestnut, 1 Fried noodles and 3 prawn Crackers Pwreese.
I have a duel passport (UK and USA) and I've never really noticed that much a difference in the two cultures. America is like a slightly less culturally rich, but richer and with a much higher standard of living for the middle class. America is a little more consumer orientated. I've always found that the differences are much propounded by the two peoples themselves exaggerating them
"slightly less culturally rich, " SLightly?? SLIGHTLY??>????
Also i'd say the standard of living in America is only slightly higher than England. Most things are cheaper here, cars, alcohol, mobile phone contracts. We are also within easy reach of many different cultures which is a massive bonus, whereas All you have in AMerica is just other American cities.
@1878EFC2008 well seeing as England really has no culture of its own anymore (being heavily usurped by both the American export of culture and from white apologists promoting an influx of alien ones) other than that of hooliganism and welfare , yeah I'd say modern Britain is only marginally on top in that respects. Alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco and luxury items are certainly more expensive in Britain due to our lovely communist government taxing the shit out of them.
If you think America has cheaper alcohol then you simply dont know what you're talking about. Tobacco is probably dearer but it's only fair that smokers pay for their inevitable health needs. Televisions, air travel, ipods, internet connection, mobile phones, eating out, books etc are a cheaper here, despite what the Daily Fail tells you.
When you're as well traveled as me then you can comment, until then keep your mouth shut.
What aspects of our culture have aliens eradicated?
@1878EFC2008 oh sorry so you've gone on a few package holidays to Florida and your now incredibly ''well traveled''...one would imagine someone who's invested so much money into Thompson or Thomas Cook, would at least get to know the currency of a country. From your statements, your obviously confusing the value of a dollar for a pound. Hmm aspect of our culture? How about our culinary traditions for one example.
I havnt been on a single package holiday to Florida. Are you ok? I have, however, been to over 15 American cities and around 50 different countries though. You strike me as being a little bit stupid. It's what happens when you never leave England.
@1878EFC2008 ohhhh good one yeah, never left England, yeah yeah...Well I smell bullshit. OVER 15 Cities? Who the fuck says that. You probably couldn't even name 50 different countries. I'm not going to start giving you statistics on how many places I've been because I'm not 10 years old. Please give me a constructive, intelligent response...lest I think your just another troll.
Boston, Washington, Baltimore, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Los ANgeles, LAs Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, Honolulu, San Franciso, San Diego and more besides.
If you had been to as many places in america you'd know that alcohol was dearer there. You don't as you haven't left England. :(
@1878EFC2008 ''I say it'' ha, Well you clearly aren't even English or you have some severe mental deficiencies. I'm glad we've cleared that up. Maybe your 11 years old. Oh but you CAN count. *clap* *clap*. Alcohol is cheaper in America, although this does depend on the state and the product, its just a fact. This is due to UK taxing. Not going to argue with a mentally challenged, wetback Mexican child about logic. Average UK Pint - £2.90 Average USA $2.75 ($1.81 difference) :)
Im English and highly intelligent. But I can already see you make a habit of being wrong so i won't bother too much with that comment.
Average Uk Pint - £1.12 Average USA pint £12.89. (11.67 difference) :)
You see, when you make silly claims you need to back them up. I was in New York just before Christmas and never paid less than double that made up 'average' price. I'm going agian soon, perhaps you can direct me to these myhtical £2.75 pints. :)
@1878EFC2008 Smokers should pay more because they will have more health needs? This is fucked up and ignorant on so many levels. How about fat fucks who kill themselves solely through greed and a lack of self control. Shouldn't they pay more? I don't read the daily mail for your information, I, unlike you, have spent significant amounts of time living in aforementioned countries, have family and friends in both and actually HAVE traveled allot due to being in the Merchant Navy.
Sorry to break it to you but small parts (not all) of the UK are not tolerant and do not respect other peoples beliefs (as with many other places) but it is different in different areas
Speaking as an Englishman, this is very good advice. The most important thing is to be confident. The majority of UK natives will be very welcoming to people from other countries who are coming here to visit and experience the UK. Another good piece of advice is to be prepared for local people to be curious about your native culture. I myself will ask a lot of questions when I meet a person from a different culture out of curiosity. It's not rudeness as it can appear.
You must be living in the part of the UK where it's still the 11th century. The UK is no more violent than any other European country, and far less so than America. You must just come from a bad neighbourhood.
You are perfectly valid to your arbitrary opinion. I'm just telling you, objectively, in terms of numbers, the UK is no more violent than anywhere else.
@alex123superfac You fail to see the point of "nope" as a reply to your previous comment? Did you look the word up? It means "no". "Britain is the most violent country in Europe according to reports from European Commission and US. Britain got a higher rank than USA and even South Africa. UK has the highest overall crime and robbery rate in the EU, the homicide rate is higher than in most of Western European countries". Guess my 'opinion' wasn't that arbitrary after all, Alex.
@alex123superfa Firstly, no, it was not an opinion, it was based on fact. Both by experience and statistics. So I was telling you, objectively, in terms of numbers, that the UK was/is more violent than any other country in Europe, South Africa - and even USA. Secondly, the statistics are from 2009, the same year I was there, and as the experience was the same in 2003 and 2005, I'm guessing 2011 wasn't that much different either. Thirdly, DM is irrelevant, EC/US however is not.
@alex123superface You lost this discussion, Alex. You can rationalise, backtrack, nitpick, deny, ignore, deflect and pretend that you meant something else all along as much as you want - it does not change the fact that you were wrong. You are entitled to you arbitrary opinions, and you can continue to believe that the UK is not a violent country for as long as you want. It's apparent that this is a sensitive issue for you, and ignorance is comfort for many, Alex. Cheerio.
England IS more violent than other Western European nations.
However people from Brazil laugh at the notion we live in a violent country, I can't even imagine what people from Johannesburg or El Salvador etc would think.
I'm glad that you seem to like being in the UK. It's a great place to live, and an even better place to learn. Just one piece of advice: if English isn't your first language, don't move to Newcastle. Most of the rest of the UK themselves can't understand people from Newcastle lol

I think this is a great video. I feel wonderful that international students would want to come to my country to study.
Many students on my nursing course were from Africa, and I felt it was a real priviledge to learn about their culture and language.
As a nurse, my colleagues come from all around the world. What a wonderful wealth of experience, knowledge and insight they bring!
Keep coming! I love it!
