I agree that Senator Obama's tax plan is a bit foolhardy... however, offshore drilling is not the answer for two reasons. 1. What's the point of additional oil reserves when all United States refineries are running at 100%? 2. Deep ocean environments are natural habitats that we really shouldn't be putzing around with. This is not an easy problem for either candidate.

The myth I refer to is here in the USA. Those fortunate enough to have the home energy go through tons of red tape to have it. This message is complete insanity. What is driving the price of gas up is the weak dollar. It results from borrowing too much money and having too poor a balance of trade. The way to strengthen the dollar is to reduce net spending by increasing revenue. The right way to do this is to increase capital gains taxes and income taxes on the wealthy. 30 years of American history have showed us the complete failure of Reganomics and the GOP economic deal. It's a raw one for the middle class.

I'm an engineering professor at a very prestigious southern Ivy school. I know a thing or two about economics, since engineers have to design things cost effectively. The weak dollar causes the country to take a pounding in international commodities markets, like oil. That's the result of excessive borrowing and a poor balance of trade. That's why the dollar is in the toilet. After hearing "I'll give you a dollar tomorrow for a hamburger today" over and over, do you believe Wimpy?
