It doesn't work also. The problem I found is an incompatibility between ICHR10R and Gigabyte sata controller, but only if there is two optical drive, a sata one and a IDE one and both on the gigabyte controller.
Now I have the IDE on the Gigabyte and the SATA on the Intel and LiveCD starts, but I can't install grub cause incompatibility with raid on ich10r...
o.o umm karmic is still in development stages. ^^ i recommend reporting bugs like these on the bugtracker as we all do and only use the finished release versions if u want to use the OS as alphas and betas are really buggy and there for the users to test if they want to in order to find the bugs then report them on the bugtracker :). ubuntu is a community driven os, which means every user is free to contribute by finding bugs 2.
try downloading it now, it has just come out!
And unplug your mouse keyboard and any printers scanners modems and plug all back in when fully booted! that is how i did it! ;)

They simply don't care about Raid problems.
There are tons of reports about raid support, but they didn't care from some release ago...
