@1967PONTIACGTO Boy that would be an undertaking. He was awesome though wasn't he. "If you could do it, it ain't bragging." I'll never forget that great GEM from Diz. Charlie
@1967PONTIACGTO That's what I was about to say! I grew up watching Ol Diz and Pee Wee Reese do the "Game of the Week" (usually a NY Yankees game). There has never been any sports broadcasting since those times which even approaches the joy which so many of us experienced back in the day. Not even close! And round about the 7th inning, when all of the Falstaff beer had kicked in pretty well, then we might be entertained with this particular song!
Ole Dizz used to sing tis often during the 60's while broadcasting Cleveland Indians' games...they were usually losing and Ole Dizz singing the Wabash Cannonball would be the highlight of the broadcast...thanks so much for posting this great memory!
Wow! Wow! Wow! I can't believe how great this clip is. Yesterday I just happened to go to YouTube and searched for "Dizzy Dean Wabash Cannonball" and this came up. I used to watch the Atlanta Braves games on TV when I was a kid and at some point during the broadcast, usually at a slow moment near the end of game, Ole Diz would sing The Wabash Cannoball. So I was hoping for a old clip from a baseball game with Dizzy singing, but this clip from Hee Haw is amazing.
@TheMalcolmCook Thanks for the comment. I have heard him sing at the ball games also. Wasn't he a kick. Great man. I'm sure glad you found it. Come back again and find something else. Charlie
that brings back a lot of memories. Is that pee wee reese on banjo?

Muhammad Ali had nothing on Dizzy Dean! Diz was bragging and backing it up long before Ali was born!

Charlie, this is a jewel. Ole Dizz could sing pretty darn good but his fast ball was probably better. Thanks so much, my friend.
