I do plenty o' drugs but I never tried smack and crack for obvious reasons. This film should be shown to all children to show them the grim tragic realities of heroin abuse. The direction and performances are stunning, it's one of those one-offs that can never be replicated and everyone involved fades into relative obscurity (apart from king Bowie obviously). One of it's strengths is showing how a tab of Acid or a toke of reefer is a whole other world to the horror of 'H'

I saw this movie in Toronto around 1981 when I was 16 yrs old and experimenting with all kinds of chemical drugs in high school. As I was watching the movie I swore I would NEVER touch Heroin and I never have. And I really honestly believe that with all the experimenting I did back in high school if I hadnt seen that movie I would have been dead ohh, maybe 23 yrs ago. - or so.... I was trying all kinds of pills and acid etc. So im thank ful that movie made an amazing impact. hope that helps :)

Great movie, but also kinda outdated. The 80's were the days of H in Western Europe, it's hardly used anymore.

This movie used to be shown in quite a lot of Dutch high schools to try to keep people of drugs. In Requiem and especially Trainspotting drug use is also romanticized, but not in this movie I feel. The book is great too, probably even better...
