John E Vincent. Now there's a name from my distant past. Remember me DJ'ing in Mr M's mate? Also doing spots at Samantha's Sheffield with you? The Nottingham Palais All-Dayers plus a few more venues? From Mansfield? Any ideas?........ `Banner`, yes, Deryke `Harry` Banner. You probably won't see this comment, but if you do, I sure wish those times were in the here & now... The buzz of playing an awesome sound & watching the dance fill, then feeling the floor bouncing. The shivers down the spine.
memories are made of this anyone remember Liz from Leeds I used to knock around with the Donny crowd and jonny stanley from Donny??? Anyone go to the Hi Fi clud ex central in leeds!!!
Top stomppin tune from youth club days (SHEFFIELD UK circa 74) released years b4 but thats when i remember dancing to it .Part of the big northern soul scene in the UK at that time.R.I.P. MR MITCHELL.
Its the only way to play this man LOUD!!! Windows open. a bit of space to do one and just go!! Reminds me so much of the Casino. Peeps would come running from Mr M's. Jethrow and Scat going apeshit, kicking the fuck out of everyone. Those are the memories I like of Wigan!
Good - but this is not a patch on the Stax/Volt/Atlantic house musicians. Check out the Mar-Keys and the Bar-Kays. And for that driving beat, Otis Redding 'I can't turn you loose'. (but not the live version, the recorded one). Get some soul in your bones. Up the Mods. (A very old Mod - I'm 58 now and still lighting up the dance floor - and not with a Zimmer either!
The only track I like better than this one is Hank Jacobs 'Elijah Rockin with Soul'. This is thumpin I've lived it since I first heard it at Tiffanies in Yarmouth in 1984
Excellent song! What year was this song released? The picture says 1976. Is that right?
