I believe that the vast majority of the police officers in this video are very pleasant and honourable people. It's just the handful who take the law into their own hands, fail to follow lawful procedure and provoke peaceful protesters who give the rest of the police men and women a bad name. x

You say about the balaclavas, but at the end of the day the violent protestors wore them too. Also, they are worn by riot police so that if it turned violent and petrol bombs where thrown the smoke going up behing the long sheilds they would use into their face doesn't go into their airways as easily.

And no, they are not required by law to take of face mask as the home secretary was saying the other day about isuing such powers in the future. My point is that why should protestors be able to wear them but not the police? And they wear probably searched because someone who hides htere face USUALLY has something to hide...

@101cjs I will try and explain. Please don't generalise. The VAST majority of protesters were entirely peaceful. All day I saw one group of perhaps 20 youths who "looked" like they were after trouble, but I personally didn't see it. From what I have seen though is film of what appears to be Police Agent Provocateurs dressed very much like these yobs being protected by uniformed police officers. I am sure more details of this will emerge...
