bovs are are almost a waste on autos.. you generally put one on a car to get the sound between shifts with a manual trans, and with autos the throttle plate doesnt close between shifts so it only sounds off when your trying to show off or at the end of your accelleration when you let off the gas..
*the hks ssqv is a good way to go, very popular and i have one on my car, courtesy of the PO.
You should put Work Bells paddle shifter kit on that and i guarantee you'll be smashing STI"s that's with a couple more mods. My friend has this kit on a 08 WRX and it's sick looking.
Blow off valves are not great on subies. Makes the car run terrible, unless you have massive amounts of power and pressure that needs to be released. Even then, the only consideration would be to get a racing bypass valve. I'd had greddy/hks bovs before and they all did the same thing, run rich and bog. Regardless whether it was auto or manual. The only way it would work right is to recirculate it, HKS has a kit. To the OP don't run the vent to atmosphere setup too long.
Oh ok I thought so, similar to mine. But won't that create backpressure by letting off too fast, that will cause the air to go back through the turbine as it can't compress fast enough eventually blowing your turbo's (what I hear about Auto's anyway) :s
I have a 1996 Twin turbo Supra Automatic (for now). If I bought this BOV could I expec this sound also? I thought BOV's don't make noise on automatics as pressure isn't released from using the clutch? please correct me : ]
From my experience as well as others' who have HKS blow off valves and automatics, you will hear the whoosh sound whenever you take your foot off the throttle.
Take a look at my boost gauge or my RPM's and you'll see you have to reach a certain point for it to make the sound.
I've read that the HKS is the best aftermarket blow off valve to go with. I've also been told that having a BOV might hinder the performance of the car...but then why would they make BOV's, right? =]
Either way, i'd say go for it. Just make sure it is recirculation.
FYI - pick up the most recent issue of Project Car, they have a whole write up of a bug eye automatic, stage 2.
@Drektek uhh are either of you on nasioc? Have u read unabomber's manifesto? either way the engine is designed to have have the air from your turbo recirulated back into the intake... your engine is expecting more air than what actually comes in so it adds more gas which makes you run rich....
I have Defi gauges (boost, EGT and oil temp) in an ATI housing. They are nice but pretty pricey. If i had not gotten a great deal on them i would have just gone with autometer. =]

What brand of catback do you have on your car? does your auto have the sportshift mode?

I have an APS turbo back exhaust. MY car has the regular 4EAT automatic transmission. I think they recently started using sport shift's in Subaru's.
