Ok, I did this it worked and I got 3 mill in oblivion elven armour every single house in the game and a hourse but if I download the expansion for the game after it pathes the game will it take away the 3 mill I made?
@LOLstickvid It won't remove anything. Just think of it this way... It's as if you played the game before an update was released. If you bought the game and did all that on the release day, and then got the official update on the official release date, would it remove everyones hard efforts then? Your money, houses, etc, will be just fine. There's no reason why they would be affected, that's just saved game data.
If I do his will it erase my account and my saved games too? cause I have xbox live and microsoft points and I dont want to lose everything on my hard drive including that all i wanna do is erase patches so I can do elevators on mw2 and do the dorian trick on oblivion like I did on my other account for unlimited money.
@Twhitt511 You don't. This is a SYSTEM update. It affects everything. It is built into the console and without a lot of modification, cannot be done. Really though, there is no reason to go back to the old dashboard.
i got a question ,i bought a game on xbox live and i download it to my hard drive if i erase the hardrive i lose the game or i cant download it agin??? srry for my english
@boryspanishkid First things first, this does NOT erase the hard drive. However, if you did erase the hardd rive (or, for that matter, change the hard drive for a different one) you can redownload anything you've bought for free. Once you buy something, it is activated for your account forever. You will not have to re-purchase anything if you delete it. You can erase addons if you run out of space then get them again later for free when you have the room for them once again on your hard drive.
@02Tony It removes ALL the patches. However, you don't have to install the patches for all your games. Installing one game update does not install updates for every game. So, if you don't want an update on a certain game, delete the updates and just disconnect from Xbox Live (by disconnecting the ethernet or wireless adapter) on the game where you don't want the update and reconnect on the games where you do.
Hey, great vid 5 stars. I have a question. I have fallout 3 and I want to glitch so lets say i remove the updates. I then duplicate items, get a log of cash, etc, etc (will i be able to save) then install updates again then i can load the save with all the stuff on it?
I cannot give Fallout 3 specific help as to be honest, I've never played that game. However, if it is anything like Oblivion then yes you should be able to. I will reccomend backing up your save game or making a second one to test it on. But I have done the same thing, only on Oblivion. I have removed updates, glitched, gotten items, reinstall updates and mantained those duplicated items... So it should be the same for Fallout. But as I say, I have not tested it myself so it may not work.
As in, CoD4 ranks such as your level... Or Halo 3 level things? You will not lose it... Because it is NOT stored on the console. It is on their servers.
Not every game CAN be played online. For example, Oblivion. Updates repair patches for that game, this removes them. It won't affect the 'online play' because it doesn't have online play.
This removes Xbox 360 game updates. That is what the title says, that is what this does. The FAQ could've answered this question, as could reading other comments which have asked the same thing countless times.
This removes all of them. If you want just one update removing then unfortunately you will have to delete them all then re-install them all seperately, but not doing so for the game you want to be without updates
I don't know myself? I just told you. You go to the memory section, go under Games or the closest menu item to that (as I am away from my console I don't know if it is called anything else, but it should be called Games) and then find your DLC and press delete.
With the new dashboard, go to where you can choose to play games, listen to music, etc. Then go to system settings. From there choose memory, and put the code in X,X,LB,RB,X,X and your updates shall be gone.
i have an xbox 360 and i play halo 2 on it, and it freezes everytime i play it. i was told to do this to fix it and i did, but it doesnt help. it will still freeze in the middle of online gameplay. Any ideas on why it does this?
A NEW NXE VERSION OF THIS TUTORIAL IS CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT. If you are unsure how to do this current tutorial on NXE (though the process is quite the same) I will be making a version for the NXE which is specific to that version.
You cannot go online without updates for that very reason - It makes gameplay unfair but unless everyone is running the same version, it can cause problems with connecting. If you want to play online, you need the updates. Simple as. I believe this is in the FAQ.
MICROSOFT CREATED THIS CODE and as far as I am aware they even advertise it on their website. There is no reason why it would cause you to get banned - They made the code to be used if required. With no updates, you can't play on games on Xbox Live, but you won't get banned. They let you use this code because they made it freely available. I bet if you rang help support they'd even tell you the code as in the video. It was put there to be useful to certain users.
Please try to look for an FAQ in the future, in particular always read the video description which can be found to the right of the video. It has 'Read this first' at the top.
No, this does not remove map packs, that is a different type of data to what is removed here.
Every time you load the game up you get asked to install updates. Seriously, this is just as if you had not installed the updates in the first place. You can re-install them any time you like.
You go to the memory section on your xbox (under the system settings. It is now found via My Xbox on the new dashboard), find the user accounts there and you should be able to select and delete them.
Should be exactly the same. Go to the My Xbox section then over to Console Settings (or something similar) and proceed from there. Really, it is just the same - Just the layout is a little different.
u commented on my thing about it not breaking my disc when ifilled my house with iron armor. if you glitch it to an extant at where it things that theres water in your house and it shows u swimming in third person where u move an inch every 5 minutes i think you get the idea........
It will not break nor do anything to your disc - Items which exist under your game saves are not loaded from the disc... They are loaded from your game save. Even if you glitch a thousand times, your disc will be exactly the same as before and load up as quickly as before if put in a different console or a seperate save is loaded.
machineman. i would LOVE to clear my cache and do all this but im afraid of 1 thing. do you know if it removes DLC like FM2 Car packs? im afraid it might screw me up. what EXACTLY does it delete? besides updates.
I have removed the updates many times without my Oblivion DLC being affected. I see no reason why other DLC would be affected. If (AND ONLY IF) the DLC gets deleted, your account has bought it and you can download it for free again. Though I doubt it will get removed.
Thanks. Does it remove game saves and progress tho? I kno it deletes updates for sure and i thought probs not DLC, but how bout game saves? my only other concern
It doesn't remove game saves or anything like that. As you can see, I have my account all fine in the game when I loaded it back up again. As for getting banned... I am not going to see that it will or won't. I don't see why it would - Microsoft put the code there to be used. But just because I do not know, I cannot say if it will or won't. I have removed the updates a dozen or so times with no harm done. It is basically the same as not being connected to Xbox Live. But I won't say either option
So what if I could duplicate items such as the fin gleam helmet with the patch but now i can't at all. I use to be able to duplicate anything but know i can only do like potions and crap. Did you stay connected to xbox live the whole time? Or have the cord in the whole time?
Owing to no updates, the game would not allow me to connect to Xbox Live at all. I kept the cable in, but chose not to install the update so I did not connect to Xbox Live. I did also do this on the old dashboard. The new dashboard seems to have an auto-update feature installed. You will have to remove the updates and remove the ethernet cable (or other networking connection) to do this. Or so I would assume.
Yes they will be. I've done this with about half a dozen achievments on Oblivion and it is fine. Just remember... All this does is remove the updates. It is as if you just never connected to Xbox Live in the first place. All your things will be there, your achievements will be fine, etc.
Yes it does. Without updates you cannot connect to Xbox Live on games. You will have to either re-install the updates or go to the dashboard and sign in again. This prevents cheating in games.
Not to my knowledge, no. This clears the cache. The cache is basically a quickly loaded memory source, or a 'store' of frequently loaded items. Clearing the cache will clear all items within the cache.... This clears the cache, which in turn removes the updates... It isn't specifically removing the updates. However, you can just simply re-install the updates you do want and ignore the ones for the games where you want no updates.
If you don't have Xbox Live then I would have thought you don't have the updates. Try it. Glitches should work, but if not then you could always try this. But be sure that it is definately the game that won't let you glitch (and not you just glitching badly)
No it doesn't. Glitches do nothing to the disc whatsoever. It is also a DVD, not a CD. Learn about how a computer works first... I think that is where you went wrong and are now complaining.
omfg, if you're planning on removing the update for fable 2 so you can do the money glitch. DONT DO IT, it corrupts you're data, uploader, please put this in your description, as i lost all my 3 chars
This removes game updates. NXE is an operating system update... Thus cannot be removed. If you could remove it, the console would not work as there would be no software to run it.
I read through the past 11 pages of comments and though I have an idea, I can't see that my question has been answered in full. If you have answered this then I am sorry for the repeat!
When you clear your cache to remove ALL updates to ALL games on your console, then re-insert the game into the console and connect to xbox live to get the updates back, do you get EVERY update ever released for the game, or just the most recent update that was made and put online by the game developers?
Good question. You get the latest update for the SINGLE game you enter. If you put in Oblivion, you get the Oblivion latest update. It does not update every game.... Quite simply because there are a lot of games and not everyone will have all of them - So they only give you the update for the game you entered.
Good question though. But yes, just the most recent update for the game you are playing. Else your memory device would get full of updates for things you've never heard of.
I understand that, but to clarify my question a little better, do you get every update ever put out for that individual game that you re-insert into your xbox, or do you just get the most recent/latest update for that individual game only?
Thanks again in advance your kind and informative responses!
I suppose you could say you get all the updates for that game. Usually updates aren't 'Update 1', 'Update 2', 'Update 3'... They will get grouped, so you get all 3 at once. But yes, you get all the updates for that game... Not just the most recent 'part' of the update.
I could follow this up until you press no for the update, whenever I press no on it it goes back to the dashboard, Did I do something wrong? I don't have an Xbox live account and the updates are the Shivering Isles and Knight of the nine, so I don't know if that changes anything or not. Please help! I cant even play Oblivion because even if I DO install the updates it sends me back to the dashboard and when i try to play it says I didn't install them and makes me install them again!
Are you connected to the internet at all through your console? Try removing or otherwise disconnecting any ethnernet cables etc linking the Xbox to your router.
If you have Shivering Isles, then that contains the update, thus it it not reccomended that you try to remove the updates if you have that as you are essentially removing part of the update.
Try holding down A whilst the game boots up to make it prompt for updates properly. I had a similar issue with HL2 but over time it solved itself.
Can you get the exact error your friend has? Please send me a personal message with it in, I will then be able to give you some specific details for your issue.
No. That is a system update, not a game update. Even if you could remove it, it would do no good. The dashboard is the operating system. Remove that, and you are left with a console that does nothing.
But no, the dashboard update cannot be removed - only game updates.
This removes every update to games. You need all the updates for a certain game in order to play it online. Every update for that game is required. You can't delete certain updates in the first place, but even if you could you would still not be able to play online.
Your game must be exactly the same as everyone elses game (which means updates). If you don't have those, you can't play with others.
You will be unable to connect to Xbox Live on games whilst updates are not on the console. But this is not something this tutorial causes. Having no updates ever means no connecting to Xbox Live. Get the updates back and you can re-connect.
But yeh, that is not a fault caused by this. If you ever tell it to not install updates the usual way, then you can't connect. Makes gameplay fairer and means everyone is running the same version of the game.
No it will not. The items are items. The game doesn't know how you got them, just that you do. Putting the updates on will allow you to keep all the items you got through the glitch.
the funny thing was i was looking for the way to remove patches from games just so i could do duplication glitches on oblivion and i happen to find your way first
YOU ARE A GOD TY!!!!! I kept trying to duplicate on Oblivion but cudnt then i realised i had an update wen id got Xbox live but now i can DUPLICATE!!! thanks again!
No it doesn't. If (and it doesn't) it deletes downloaded content, you will be able to redownload it for free. That is always the case. If you buy something once, you have bought it for life. But no, nothing like that will be erased. It is just the cache, which is not related. You get prompted to install the updates every time you put the disc in. Your profiles, game saves and other data will be fine.
i just tried doing it for fable2 and i got to the part XX LB RB XX and that box come up, saying you show you want to delete your saved data from the hard drive or something, i have installed the game to the harddrive because it freezed ( THE HOLE XBOX ) so i did that to get around it, ( it works ) but i was wondering if i clicked on Yes would it delete everything? Can you help?
It allows you to do whatever patches disallowed you to do - Some glitches and other things. Which sometimes can be used for easy items, such as on Oblivion or may allow you to complete parts easier if updates buggered the game for you.
Have you encountered any problems with this, and when you talk about the achievments, do you mean, it won't take away the gamerscore or achievements on the list, or it will?
Ok, I did this it worked and I got 3 mill in oblivion elven armour every single house in the game and a hourse but if I download the expansion for the game after it pathes the game will it take away the 3 mill I made?

@02Tony It removes ALL the patches. However, you don't have to install the patches for all your games. Installing one game update does not install updates for every game. No it doesn't. Glitches do nothing to the disc whatsoever. It is also a DVD, not a CD. Learn about how a computer works first... I think that is where you went wrong and are now complaining.
machineman9 3 years ago
ah the old dashboard :)
TheHowToNerd 3 years ago
Oh yes. The delights of nearly 2 years ago lol.
machineman9 3 years ago
how can u put it back on
with the same code?
Abercrombie715712 3 years ago
It tells you within the video. You play the game and it asks if you want to install the updates. Press yes.

I Done This, Now I Can't Connect To Xbox Live When I I Play Saints Row 2 Or GTA 4 + Others. Help?
ChrissyDoyle 3 years ago
You cannot connect to Xbox Live when the updates are removed. The FAQ and video should both mention this.
machineman9 3 years ago
omfg, if you're planning on removing the update for fable 2 so you can do the money glitch. DONT DO IT, it corrupts you're data, uploader, please put this in your description, as i lost all my 3 chars
stryanka 3 years ago
Does this return back the 128MB I lost when I installed the LIVE update?
toilettension 3 years ago
This removes game updates. NXE is an operating system update... Thus cannot be removed. If you could remove it, the console would not work as there would be no software to run it.
machineman9 3 years ago
does this work for the new dashboard?
dylanrox95 3 years ago
The process is exactly the same, just the layout is a bit difference. Go to 'My Xbox', then system, then memory etc.
But yes, from the other messages posted... it does work on NXE
machineman9 3 years ago
wouldn't this remove nxe?
mdolan36 3 years ago
No. That is a system update affecting the operating system. This removes the game updates, or cache... Which is different.
machineman9 3 years ago
I read through the past 11 pages of comments and though I have an idea, I can't see that my question has been answered in full. If you have answered this then I am sorry for the repeat!
When you clear your cache to remove ALL updates to ALL games on your console, then re-insert the game into the console and connect to xbox live to get the updates back, do you get EVERY update ever released for the game, or just the most recent update that was made and put online by the game developers?
dtelston 3 years ago
Good question. You get the latest update for the SINGLE game you enter. If you put in Oblivion, you get the Oblivion latest update. It does not update every game.... Quite simply because there are a lot of games and not everyone will have all of them - So they only give you the update for the game you entered.
Good question though. But yes, just the most recent update for the game you are playing. Else your memory device would get full of updates for things you've never heard of.
machineman9 3 years ago
I understand that, but to clarify my question a little better, do you get every update ever put out for that individual game that you re-insert into your xbox, or do you just get the most recent/latest update for that individual game only?
Thanks again in advance your kind and informative responses!
dtelston 3 years ago
I suppose you could say you get all the updates for that game. Usually updates aren't 'Update 1', 'Update 2', 'Update 3'... They will get grouped, so you get all 3 at once. But yes, you get all the updates for that game... Not just the most recent 'part' of the update.
machineman9 3 years ago
Perfect! Thanks again for all your help!
dtelston 3 years ago
No problem.

thanks man worked like a charm

I could follow this up until you press no for the update, whenever I press no on it it goes back to the dashboard, Did I do something wrong? I don't have an Xbox live account and the updates are the Shivering Isles and Knight of the nine, so I don't know if that changes anything or not. Please help! I cant even play Oblivion because even if I DO install the updates it sends me back to the dashboard and when i try to play it says I didn't install them and makes me install them again!
xxkairisanxx 3 years ago
Are you connected to the internet at all through your console? Try removing or otherwise disconnecting any ethnernet cables etc linking the Xbox to your router.
If you have Shivering Isles, then that contains the update, thus it it not reccomended that you try to remove the updates if you have that as you are essentially removing part of the update.
Try holding down A whilst the game boots up to make it prompt for updates properly. I had a similar issue with HL2 but over time it solved itself.
machineman9 3 years ago
i cant play saints row 2 coz it wont let me update it ive tried deletein it from my hdd but it still dont work???
SCR0ALL 3 years ago
Can you give more details? Why won't it let you update?
machineman9 3 years ago
well its actually my mates but he says whenever he tries to update it pops up sayin he cant download the update so he cant play the game
SCR0ALL 3 years ago
Can you get the exact error your friend has? Please send me a personal message with it in, I will then be able to give you some specific details for your issue.
machineman9 3 years ago
No. That is a system update, not a game update. Even if you could remove it, it would do no good. The dashboard is the operating system. Remove that, and you are left with a console that does nothing.
But no, the dashboard update cannot be removed - only game updates.
machineman9 3 years ago
it lets him play all his other games and get the updates he has tried it on his mates console with his hdd but it dint work
SCR0ALL 3 years ago
Try holding 'A' on the controller whilst the game is loading up. This usually prompts it to install updates.
machineman9 3 years ago
so like wat kind of updates will not let me connect if there erase?
RegiType 3 years ago
This removes every update to games. You need all the updates for a certain game in order to play it online. Every update for that game is required. You can't delete certain updates in the first place, but even if you could you would still not be able to play online.
Your game must be exactly the same as everyone elses game (which means updates). If you don't have those, you can't play with others.
machineman9 3 years ago
will it remove xbox live?
RegiType 3 years ago
Xbox Live is a service. It cannot be removed.
Makes gameplay fairer and means everyone is running the same version of the game.
machineman9 3 years ago
Correct. No account data, downloaded content or anything like that is affected.
machineman9 3 years ago
OK i did the oblivion item glitch. If I update it again will it remove my items?
GifDude 3 years ago
No it will not. The items are items. The game doesn't know how you got them, just that you do. Putting the updates on will allow you to keep all the items you got through the glitch.
machineman9 3 years ago
dose this stop freezing

Which game are you talking about, and what is happening when it is freezing? You are being too vague to answer.

PatSoccer7 3 years ago
Im scared to do this. Does it delete anything I cant get back for free?
boomuhwang 3 years ago
No it doesn't. If (and it doesn't) it deletes downloaded content, you will be able to redownload it for free. That is always the case. If you buy something once, you have bought it for life. But no, nothing like that will be erased. It is just the cache, which is not related. You get prompted to install the updates every time you put the disc in. Your profiles, game saves and other data will be fine.
machineman9 3 years ago
I love you.
boomuhwang 3 years ago
i cant say you could have stated that any better im in awe

grosserne 3 years ago
To hopefully remove any issues caused by an update. Or to clear your cache for your own reasons.
Mostly though, just for performing glitches.
machineman9 3 years ago

I'm not sure. If you get to the XXLBRBXX bit then it should ask to perform system maintenance. I can have a look and see what's going on.
machineman9 3 years ago
works on nex xbox exp
danielround 3 years ago
can you do this with the new xbox experiance thingy??
KAGHEN123 3 years ago
I have NOT tested with the nex Xbox Experience.
You will NOT be able to remove the new Experience, but you should be able to remove game updates. I have not tested myself, however.
machineman9 3 years ago
absolutely i did it the other day

How do you delete game accounts?
AstroPirateKid 3 years ago
You go to the System tab. Then Memory. Then Game Saves (or similar) and they will be there.
machineman9 3 years ago
This may seem unrelated, but do you have any idea why a game would not ask to install updates, when it clearly needs to?
allswell13 3 years ago
User preference, I imagine. Maybe they exceeded their internet bandwidth, or don't have the space to install it.
It is just down to the user, I suppose.
machineman9 3 years ago
dude ur a fucking genus dude omg ive had fucking shivering isles forever and ive wanted to do cheats so bad thank you ur a stud man
gosk8trboy100 3 years ago
so why would i want to do this ? i mean what is the possitive side of this ?
Ryohazukisama 3 years ago
It allows you to do whatever patches disallowed you to do - Some glitches and other things. Which sometimes can be used for easy items, such as on Oblivion or may allow you to complete parts easier if updates buggered the game for you.
machineman9 3 years ago
Have you encountered any problems with this, and when you talk about the achievments, do you mean, it won't take away the gamerscore or achievements on the list, or it will?
Drakinola 3 years ago
There is absolutely no reason why it would make it quieter. It is just a bit of software removed....
I have doubts that updates affect the fans like this.
