Well done to carlos the blind guy, huge respect!! Also well done to the Russians for helping out spotting and loading, just shows even world champs will muck in and help out when needed fair play to them.
Too bad the IPF doesn't have a World Championships for disabled persons, especially Special Olympians.
It would be nice for the IPF to have an annual World Disabled Championships, which would include Blind, Special Olympian, Paralympic (Bench Press Only), Physically Disabled, etc.
Special Olympians must be registered with both the IPF and their national Special Olympics chapter to be eligible to compete.
Carlos Greene (TRI) inspires beyond belief. Carlos is blind. His coach guides him onto the platform and positions him beneath the bar. Carlos is a great competitor. He finished his squats with 650 lbs.
I used to have a Blind Powerlifter as my monitoring coach for the 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and I have to say they are truly an inspiration to watch as they overcome visual and physical barriers to achieve big lifts.
Even though he died of cancer nine years ago, I still work hard to lift big and make him proud.
Carlos is definitely an inspiration to all Blind and disabled Powerlifters.
i just watched the blind guy squat....
I am no longer going to bitch about squatting again.
Truly inspirational.
