  • Dominion War

  • Not as flash blinded as they are going to get!

  • Waiting to get within 500 meters before firing is sheer insanity. It's like being within tossing distance of your enemy when using tactical nukes. They'd be going so fast Sisko wouldn't be able to give the command to fire before they had collided with the enemy ship(s). The line should have been more like "Wait until we are within 500 KILOMETERS".

  • The Enterprise may the flagship of the Federation, but the Defiant is by far the best damn ship in "Star Trek". Nothing can touch that "tough little ship".

    LITTLE?!

    LOL!

  • IT'S A TRAP!

    wait, wrong franchise... my bad

  • The Defiant saves the day... but don't give a shit about the Romulans and the Cardassians.

  • The SuperTough USS Defiant Arrives like the Cavalry and Saves the day....

  • Kapitan Sisko with hair is wrong... just wrong.

  • It's a tarp.

  • heh thats one of the few times the script remembers you gotta drop your shields to transport.

  • @Uselesschris Section 31 had Transport Technology that could Bypass Shields so did the Jem Hadar , they also had long range transports that could transport a person several light years =0

  • Episode?

  • @katyponyforever Its the title.

  • "so much for the dominion"

  • Comment removed

  • defiant kick but

  • Anyone else notice the Romulan/ Cardassians Didn't fire a single shot?

  • @360Frostt ikr?

  • I AM A ROMULAN! I LIKE PIZZA! YAH :o I SUCK A DRIVING!

  • the guy playing the captain of the Defiant is one of the worst actors... yeesh!

  • @CherryONeil Yes, he was much better playing Hawk in "Spenser For Hire."

  • "It's a trap."

    No shit, Garak.

What is Cardassian for "we're screwed?"

  • A shame. Voyager was on vacation in the Delta Quadrant while the Dominion War was going on. They missed all the fun! :(

  • Chipmunks!

  • too bad in reality, a transpoter would kill us and just make a copy us with our memories. It was even stated in 1 of the horrible Enterprise series and by physicists toady.

  • @adoubled321 And most importantly by Sheldon Cooper.

  • Jadzia is a good shot!

  • so how many federation citizens died in this war? was it the worst in federation's history? where was the enterprise?

  • @Urbania05

Many millions died, but the worst loss was for the Cardassians.

Over 1 billion Cardassians dead and atleast half their fleet gone.

Yes, this was the worst war in Federation history.

The Enterprise D was destroyed before the war.

The Enterprise E was in service during the war and was patrolling the Romulan Neutral zone. Btw, First contact happens during season 5 of ds9 (the beginning of the Dominion war).

  • @NightwishRaven999 did dsn do anything on their show about first contact... or did they just show worf coming back? and you would think the borg would take advantage of the war.

  • @Urbania05

Yes, they did refer to the Borg attack a few times, but the war with the Dominion was much bigger, so it was considered more important. The Defiant was on a mission to Earth when the borg attacked. Although we dont see it on screen, it was repared and rushed back to Ds9 to join the Federation/Klingon/Romulan fleets.

Also keep in mind, First contact was made DURING ds9. Ds9 already had its own storyline, so First contact is a seperate incident.

  • @NightwishRaven999 you don't really hear about the second borg attack do you?? enterprise was ordered the nutral zone i thought because picard wasn't in starfleet's view capable of fighting the borg again. at least that's what he said. but if they patrolled that during the war, so those were standing orders? i would think they would be with the romulan fleets, since they were close to romulan space anyway. hope im not bothering you.

  • @Urbania05

Yes you do, in my previous comment I mentioned that they mention the First contact borg attack a few times in Ds9. The Enterprise E was patroling the neutral zone because the Romulans signed a non aggression pack with the Dominion.

Starfleet needed ships on the Romulan border, just in case.

Its only a few months later that the Romulans joined the war. Sorry for the mixup in my last comment.

  • @NightwishRaven999 thank you. agai, if i bother. alot was going on. this was one of the most exiciting periods of trek history.

  • @Urbania05

Indeed...the crew of Voyager missed all the fun while they were in the Delta Quadrant, lol : )

  • @NightwishRaven999 I wish Voyager had been there. That way Voyager could have been destroyed and we wouldn't have had to suffer through 7 seasons of that show. LOL.

I could never understand why people like Voyager but diss Enterprise. Enterprise was infinitely better and never got the respect it deserved.

  • @jasonsg4111 Amen to Voyager being blown to bits...

  • @ChicoEdge I`m glad you agree with me.

  • @jasonsg4111 I didn't like Voyager that much, hell I liked Enterprise over that shit. The reason Enterprise was hated 1. It screwed up the timeline so bad a paradox should have occured, The Ferengi and Borg shouldn't have been there for start 2. The Enterprise likes very similar to the Akira class. I still watch Enterprise I liked the ship the crew the captain, the episodes even though it screwed the timeline and most of all I liked T'Pol :D

  • @NightwishRaven999 . you are so enighteningly right. War is all about the fun. I think we all agree that pain is the acme of tools to self development. What´s nice is losing children who explode or burn or get executed on a vid screen for later youtubing and the common entertainment of all. In my last life, 3 of my children were abducted and eaten alive, while we knew. That was sooo cool. Two lives before I got raped by clingones while on peacemission with 3000 men dead on my ship. hail war !

  • One more thing: the writers and producers didn't make mistakes. They just didn't give a fiddler's cuss about anything they wrote. In fact, none from what I wasted my years watching could write a story to save their lives.

  • The various features of the Warbird were intended to be by its designer, Andrew Probert, to have the ship fire its disrupters fom out of those semispherical beeds located throughout the vessel, and the torpedos were to be lanched at the top of the Warbird's spine. Instead they keep showing them fired from what is actually the navigational deflector.

  • The Defiant has ablative armour. In Way of the Warrior they dropped their shields while under attack from a Klingon Cruiser but managed to survive long enough to rescue a few dozen Cardassians. Even if the shields were pretty much useless, you'd raise them anyway to stop transporter attacks and the such. End of the day if she could take a Klingon Cruiser for about 30 seconds without firing back, she can take a half a dozen Jem Hadar fighters for about the same time.

  • @spartanlegend01

the enterprise e has advanced transporter technique compared to the defiant, she doesnt*'t have to drop shields while beaming, seen in first contact

  • @Kronosk2 ah that´s just not true... the borg got onto the enterprise because she had to drop shields to beam the Defiant´s survivors aboard

  • @Kronosk2 . you´re right they do be havefully existing skills like this. But if you were a spaceworm trying to rape Janeway´s cunt, would you rather beam through their shields or could you. I mean, as a spaceworm? O, shit I blundered: spaceworms don´t like Janeways and second she doesn´t even fly voyagers anymore for treason towards standing odeurs - she never consciously poopsed as long as I can think back. Maybe she has been aspy all along! When I met her in munich she was blonde.& alive.

  • Apparently, since Trek was still using models and a battle scene with 30 ships was really hard to do, they used transparencies for ships in the background, hoping no one would notice.

  • You've just gota love the way the Defaint just RAMS through one of the Dominion fighters in this clip without even slowing down.

    Tough little ship indeed...

  • he gets prometed later in the seires.

  • lame comment, and totally irrelevant! Besides, DS9 was by far the best series, IMO!

  • It's too bad they didn't show the Cardassian or Romulan ships firing back at all. The battle scenes needed better special effects. Still, a great episode overall.

  • Actually, they do show some Cardassian ships firing back. They just don't move. Your right, they could have done a better job of showing the fleet defending itself.

  • Seeing Eddington at the tactical conn of the "Defiant" was...How should I say.... Unusual... At least seeing him together with "Javert" :D

  • "I ASKED YOU A QUESTION!"

  • The Tal Shiar and Obsidian order obliterated in an instant lol. their governments had to cover that up big time

  • voyager was ma fave trek series, however i liked ds9 also, i liked how they crammed so much story into one series the marquis then the klingon war and the dominion war and on otp of that all the ferengi and klingon episodes also plus all the episodes about the cardassians and bajorans

  • Wolf 359 all over again!

  • 359..

  • Admiral Ackbar could have told them that it was a trap.

  • @AnonymousDiv0 He could have..........

    If he felt like it.

  • @AnonymousDiv0 Who's Admiral Ackbar?

  • @jasonsg4111 he is a famous character from star wars

  • @jasonsg4111 You're kidding, right? Admiral Ackbar, the Rebel admiral from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

  • best little ship in the fleet

  • i believe it was supposed to be the first Starfleet vessel built specifically as a combat vessel

  • Little?!?!?

  • hahah classic line from FirstContact

  • Nerts....I always liked the scene where Odo looks out and sees Defiant decloak.

  • I remember seeing the first part of this two parter and didn't get to see the second part for 3 years later... quite a cliffhanger! It was the first major battle we'd seen in Trek - apart from the bits and pieces from Wolf 359.

  • "It's a trap!"

    Opps wrong franchise... My bad

    lol

  • @calzaki LOL my thoughts exactly!

  • use bush excuse we were lied too

  • the Defiant doesn't **** around

  • I understand that but are you telling me if mI5 or the CIA assasinated say the russian president Russia wouldnt retaliate because it was intellegence services working on their own. I get what your saying but its a bit iffy ?

  • See this made no sense, The cardassians and romulans attack the founders but the dominion go to war with the klingons and the federation. Then they allow the cardassians to join them?

  • Those Cardassians and Romulans weren't acting on official orders. They were representatives of their respective intelligence agencies and were co-operating to defeat the Dominion before they could attack the Alpha quadrant.

It turned out to be a trap to lure the order and Talshiar to their doom, the Talshair and Obsidian order were thought to be the greatest threats to Dominion conquest.

With the Obsidian order out the way there was a change in government in Cardassia.

  • With a new government the Kilgons thought it was due to manipulation by the founders hence why they went to war with Cardassia.

After the war Cardassia was on it knees Gul Dukat made a deal with the Dominon to join Cardassia with the Dominion and with their new allies they would conquer the alpha quadrant as last resort to save Cardassia.

The bottom line is the Dominon had cleverly planned all this since season 3 and you see it all unfold through seasons 4 and 5 to the war in season 6 and 7.

  • Those romulans and cardassion where the sercret service of those both planets they wasnt acting under offical orders, so when cardassia join the dominion the entrie planet join them

  • Secret Service? You mean they went after Counterfeiters? Think you meant C.I.A.

  • The Tal-Shiar and the Obsidian order are separate parties and are not part of either the Romulan Empire or the Cardassian Union. If you watch the episode, you will see that both organization were infiltrated by the founders. They were deemed too dangerous, so the Dominion crippled both organizations severely.

    Especially the Obsidian order.

  • The Dominion considered Federation and Klingons to be one of the bigger obstacles for them in their attempt to conquer Alpha Quadrant. If they were to attack Cardassia or Romulas, then Federation and Klingon might help and repel them, but not the other way around. Not to mention, with Cardassians willing to provide additional manpower and weaponry, there's no reason the Dominion wouldn't allow them to join them.

  • The Founders don't see them as separate entities only as 'solids', lower life that needs to be controlled. They don't care about the Cards or the Breen as the final episodes show.

The whole idea of: "different from us? therefore all the same..." has strong mirrors in history. Europeans viewed Africans as all the same under terms like 'Negro' and made temporary alliances and treaties using pre existing tensions to divide and conquer. The show is mirroring this in 'solids' and the Alpha Quadrant

  • I was like, why dont they just warp away. Or cloak?? random

  • what ep and season.

  • The Die is Cast

  • I am guessing they need to get through the nebula. As for cloak there are so many ships to cloak, it would become a turkey shoot without their shields.

    Geek answers!

  • They didn't re-cloak because the Jem'hadar had already detected them. The Dominion is capable of detecting clocked ships IF they know where the target is already. Re-cloaking is therefore useless.

  • Only one word can describe the "Defiant"

    BADASS!

  • lol 0:14-0:16 because it was out of sync the guys had a womans voice

  • OUT OF SYNC,TRY AGAIN

    LOL

  • extremely out of sync

  • Your suspended LOL

  • hahaha

  • What's up with the audio???

  • This takes me back. Pre bald Sisko.

  • This was an awesome episode back in the day. Had a great build-up leading up to them discovering the trap the Dominion had led them into unknowingly. Although the scenes after were a bit disappointing in quality (You didnt see the Cardassian or Romulan ships even fire back :s), but combat scenes didnt really pick up until start of Way of the Warrior. If I could remake an episode though, this would be one of them. DS9 ftw. shame about voyager eh? (mostly anyway)

  • The Die Is Cast blows me away.

  • video and audio are not syncron

  • i love the defiant class.

  • It's a trap.

  • they stole from Ackbar lol

  • dude this video is completely out of sync....

  • I wrote a fan fic once about what would have happened if the Obsidian Order/ Tal shiar fleet won that battle.

  • Man, the Romulans and the Cardassians really took a beating in that episode. Wolf 359 all over again but with different actors. Brilliant episode.

  • Early on in the war, Dominion weapons could easily penetrate shields. It was later on that they manage to develop better shields - this was referred to in several episodes.

  • Edinton says clearly that shields were at 80 percent, yet the Cardassian shields seem useless in this episode.

  • Well, the Defiant has newer technology than any of the Cardassian or Romulan ships - plus they have been dealing with the Dominion before, so they have been able to make modifications to their defenses to better withstand Dominion weapons.

  • @Jessico76 : Actually, the Dominions weapons should pierce all shields at this point in the story.

  • @Jessico76 Destruction of USS Odissey gave Federation enough know-how to modify shields to stop Jem'Hadar particle beams. As of Romulans and Cardassians, this was their first encounter with Dominion in battle so their shields were not modified and were consequently ineffective against Jem'Hadar weapons

  • No, it didn't. If you notice when the Dominion attacks DS9 Weyoun comments that Federations shields have always proven useless against our weapons. That was almost two years after this episode. Besides, the Federation was under obligation to share its intelligence with the Romulans, a fact pointed out by Enabrain Tain.

  • @Jessico76 Maybe, but in this episode Federation shields clearly work against Jem'Hadar weapons, it simply wasn't noted by Dominion as they were concentrated on fleet. Also, on 1:23 Edington says "Shields at 80%". There would be no shield weakening had shields not stop Jem'Hadar weapon fire.

  • Obviously the plot says so, but there is no reason to think that suddenly Federation shields started working for no reason. It was more like a continuity error.

  • @Jessico76 When USS Odyssey was destroyed, before destruction and after attack started, Captain Keogh transmitted to Commander Sisko that Jem'Hadar are using phase polaron beams. That would be enough for Federation scientists to make a counter-measure, maybe by adding polarons to shields. And I think (but I'm not sure, I saw this episode very long time ago) that exterior shots in this episode clearly show Defiant shields stopping Jem'Hadar weapons.

  • It was just poor writing. The writers for this episode just didn't know or forgot that Federation shields didn't work against the Dominion. Also, there was no way that the Federation would have learned from the Odyssey, it was destroyed.

  • @Jessico76 The Odyssey likely transmitted its logs or was linked up with Starfleet before it was destroyed. The Fed's are very resourceful and learned how to adapt to the Dominion weapons. They did the same with the Borg and Species 8472.

  • @Audioholics You are just making this up, there is no evidence to support that. It was just that the writers forgot, that's all.

  • @Jessico76 No I am NOT making this up. When the Dominion attacked DS9 Weyoun was shocked the Federation shields were holding. Dukat told him to never underestimate the resourcefullness of the Federation. The Fed's also learned how to adapt to the Breen energy weapon by capturing their ship. The Fed's caputred a Dominion ship and did the same. Seriously, you should watch the DS9 episodes more closely.

  • @Audioholics Now you are being silly. You are telling ME to watch the episodes more closely, when in fact Sisko didn't capture the Jem Hadar ship until the 4th season, and this episode took place in the 3rd. Weyoun didn't make his comments until the end of the 5th season. YOU need to watch the episodes more closely.

  • @Jessico76 It doesn't matter. The Fed's adjust their tactics after every brutally bad engagement such as Wolf 359. You seem to want to vilify the writers. The Dominion didn't even expect a ship like the Defiant when it first came out. It caught them off gaurd. With the dawn of the Dominion war came refits to the Galaxy Class, Excelsior (Lakota), and more emphasis on combat heavy ships like the Akira. They adapted to a new threat and changed their battle tactics and ships accordingly.

  • @Audioholics You continue to make things up that were never said in the series. Just face the facts, the writers made mistakes all the time, like the time the Enterprise fired phasers from the photon torpedo tubes. You haven't given one example from the series to back up what you day. Just stop with this silly dicussion until you realize that it was just poor writing.

  • @Jessico76

I agree. But I still liked it xD

  • @Picard578 Yea but notice how Cardassian ships became far more powerful with their alliance with the Dominion. The Kelvan class ships were putting up a hard fight against the Defiant when Tom Riker took it over.

  • It's sad Commander Eddington had to be a traitor. I really liked his character. As an officer he was greater than Worf, IMO.

  • bullshit.

  • Compelling argument.

  • Well the sheer preponderence of bullshit in your previous post (a weighty sum, to be sure) was sufficient enough to "compel" my previously dormant fingers into action; Hence, the comment.

  • I like how you don't state any evidence to support your argument, only bashing mine. Whatever gets you votes, Senator.

  • You cant undercut loyalty...

    DrHoe77

I dont have rubbergloves will leather with sharpen studs do ?

You can keep them by the way. :)

  • This arguement has gone from mildly questionable to morally disturbing in the span of a fortnight. Good job, hoppermantis.

No rainbow flags in THIS cloud, btw. Sorry.

  • Thought a lil Klingon humor was needed HAR HAR HAR HAR Dont catch any bugs !!

  • Oh, right. "The Undiscovered Country". Good one.

  • DrHoe you are the master of sounding like a pretentious jackass.

    Bravo to you, sir.

  • Thank you for your opinion, jimmyjimjam!

Please direct your comments for DrHoe77 to the Office of Dickhead Affairs.

  • i don't think they saved the day considering the objective of the attack

  • It's because he takes all his video's from trekmania, they have issues with their sound, but it can be prevented if you know what your doing.

  • Trekmania? Can you give us the link, please?

  • yeah, trekmania.net. There is no sound-glitch there.

  • a bit out of sync but cool. Did you made it with video impression? There could some things get out of sync.

  • He just took them from trekmania.

  • yeah, noticed that too,Jack...little time delay betwen the action and the audio

  • Your videos have some audio problems.

  • Why is it that during the Dominon war, that shields don't come into play? The only time a ship would have sheilds, is when a main ship(example Sisko's definant).

  • More from my other post- This video shows that (like many times during the dominion war in the series), that when a ship got hit, it would always be a hall breach and in most cases get destoryed when 2-4 shots. Kind of odd since sheilds should go down to a certain percent or in some cases do low or mild damage when shelds are up. I love DS9 and the Dominion War, but I always found that odd.
