heyyyy r you kiddin´me? u did the choreographie just in ONE AFTERNOON? hey girls you are trying to piss me off :DD THAT´S FUCKIN´ PERFECT! I LOVE HEDNIGARNA AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR DANCING!
As I understand the ladies here are Spanish. The band 'Hedningarna' is Swedish and the singers are Finnish singing in Finnish (name of the song 'Veli' means 'Brother').
This is just an excellent example what beauty can be created when different cultures meet at right circumstances. I count at least 4 different traditions here - belly dancing being not 'native' to Spain AFAIKT.
@MysticRonin101 The uploader, 'nilhus', indicates above that she is one of the dancers here - and in her YouTube channel she says that she is from Spain. Of course I can't be 100 % sure that that is correct information, but I have no reason to doubt it either ;)
Wow! Strange combo of Finnish music with bellydancing, but it worked really well! Good performance too. I'm a big Hedningarna fan, this is an interesting use of their music.
The move in 1:33 - 1:44... Could you please explain how to do it? Like, what muscles do you use and such... And do you think it's more of an easy or a difficult move? Do you think it's more or less difficult to learn than a basic "camel" for example? Please tell me!! I can do the beginning and the end of it but the big upper body circle is too difficult. And: you blonde girl, where did you get your skirt and accessories from?? :D
the move is called "camel walk". it's a bit long to explain it here, but you can google it and sure you can find a good explanation in any Tribal Basics Step Book ;)
About the outfit, i make my own clothes, belts, tops, etc...it's the best and cheapest way ;) honey, magik & rock'n'roll!!
Oh my god! I never realized before just how PERFECT Finnish folk music is for oriental dancing!! Sorry, I'm gonna copy your idea and make a coreography in a Värttinä song or such when I have time... :D ...Wish I could dance tribal fusion since that'd look the best but there's no teachers for that around where I live.
Btw, how long have you danced, you dancers on the video? You're damn good! ^_^
hi there!! by the time of that video i think my friend (the brunette) had been dancing for about 6 or 7 years, and i about 5 or 6 ;)
you're from finland, right? have a good look around 'cos i think i've heard from good tribal fusion teachers around there...actually i think there's a big festival...
Lovely dancing!! and that's great music, I love the combination of voices - Sanna's (more playful) and Anita's (darker and more mysterious)... In Karelia Visa, I also like the track Viima, where the girls are just vocalizing, it could also be great for bellydancing :)
man, belly dance and scandinavian music! i'm a belly dancer, and a fan of hedningarna, garmana, and so many others, and it is great to see them combined, and so well! this was a treat. good job! you gals rock!
Get your facts right :P. The musicians are Swedish, the two singers are Finnish, and they do sing in Finnish. The singers featured on the Karelia Visa CD are Sanna Kurki-Suonio (who doesn't sing with Loituma) and Anita Lehtola (who does sing with Loituma).
Back to topic; never expected to see bellydancing in combination with my beloved Hedningarna, and it is simply both exotic and beautiful. Thumbs up, I do hope to see more from your rehersals in the future, Nilhus.
Belly dancing with Swedish music, I never thought it would work, but it looks so great! I have been a big fan of Varttina, Hedningarna, and Garmarna for years. Great job.
this album (Karelia - Visa) was recorded in Karelia ("region half finnish, half russian"), but Hedningarna are sweedish. It has some finnish instruments
the song is tragic. weird to see stomach dancers using it. kind of disgusting actually.
novysvet11 4 months ago
@novysvet11 I'm a Finn but I just can't find anything specifically tragic in the song - perhaps I lack some background information?
And IMO the music and the performance strangely fit together quite well.

Is this dance made for this song or is it a traditional dance?

Are those girls Finnish and is this a traditional Finnish dance?
MysticRonin101 1 year ago
@MysticRonin101
The song is made by Hedningarna, called Veli. Dunno 'bout the dance if it's made for this song or not.

Badly choreographed and looked rather obscene. Doesn't go well with the accompanying music.
