  • makes me feel old , but happy !

  • PUCKER !!

Love the guitarists too... having a playful lark about in the background.

    Proper showmen..Proper band !!

  • holy fuck hey?

  • Best. Cover. Ever.

  • AWESOME comes from my hometown back home GLASGOW SCOTLAND

  • So good to see more OGWT vids of this awesome band. I saw the vid for "Give My Compliments to The Chef" and desperately wanted more!

  • Lol @ nelson1eye - Yeah pretty sad that TJ has to keep creeping in here to give the thumbs down!

Whilst the Tom Jones version was a good one in its own way, this is a pure piece of theatre, and just brilliant. The band were awesome too!

RIP Alex, gone but certainly not forgotten, as this proves.

  • i was born in 64, lived and loved the soundss of the 70s, i am glad i had the pleasure of listening and watching The Sensational Alex Harvey Band among others.

  • RIP the man!

Zal Cleminson, one of the most under rated guitarists!

  • Still sends shivers down my spine, fantasic band, brilliant frontman with a brilliant gutarist.

  • RIP Alex.

  • Just brilliant. Remember this was my first intro to SAHB when I saw them on OGWT (what a fantastic programme that was) and it stayed with me.

  • amazing performer!! does anyone have vid of them doing NEXT on OGWT?

  • fuck me lads a canny believe how good a feel listening tae this it takes me way back icant find the words

  • one of my favoriet bands!!!

    Thanks for the upload!!!

  • absolute quality

  • Who's putting the thumbs downs on comments? Tom Jones or one of his fans? This is absolutely brilliant, this is a theatrical song and the SENSATIONAL (the capital letters are intentional) Alex Harvey Band give it all the theatricity it deserves. Tom's was good but this is the peak, outstanding!

  • absolute brilliance!!!!

  • sounds great

off to bed, wake me up when they start making music like this again.

  • wonderful. Remember watching this on TOGWT in 75!

  • This is dog's bollox 5*

  • Me too. In Edinburgh. Went in a Slade fan came out a SAHB fan!

  • Awesome stuff. R.I.P. Alex.

    Tom who???????

  • and don't forget swampsnake.

  • 34 years on and this one still remains the definitive version of 'Delilah' - by a long way. I doubt as if that version could even be equalled, let alone surpassed.

  • i don't suppose you have " ain't nothin' like a g*** b*** " do you?

  • This is just great! Thanks to you for sharing it!

  • awesome.

  • I saw SAHB "supporting" SLADE in 1973 at Earl's Court Slade didn't stand a chance...and they were excellent !!! Alex was the Master!

  • hello davesubsea, I think the gig your talking about, Was probably At Drummonds, and that would have been Zal's band, The last gig i went to see S,A,H.B would have been a place on Windmill Brae.. was a club, but it has changed it name so many times i cant remember the name of the place..?!

that was about 4 yrs ago now. Brian from the Bashers had a Heart attack but is back with the band, and i believe they are still performing in the mither tap.. I keep in touch with them by E-mail

  • The best

  • We were the back up band for S.A.H.B in Aberdeen about 4 years ago with Max on the vocals.. a brill weekend with the Excisting members of the band.. From Spike.. Bash street Kids.. Aberdeen,Now living in> Thailand

  • Hi Spike,

I missed the gig I was offshore but one of my mates told me he had a great night I think it was at Belmont Street. I have seen the Bash Street Kids at the The Mither Tap and in my youth at various venues around the North East.

All the best hope you're settled in over in Thailand

    All the best

    Dave

  • RIP Alex. Best showman ever, by a mile

  • Thanks for the comment, one of my favourite bands.

  • their name is named after me...

... or maybe i was named after the band?

    (q)

  • Brilliant! I never saw them live but I had two albums by them ( one was the live album) I prefer this to Tom's version!

  • Thanks for sharing this great video!

  • Lagendary :-)

  • obviously i saw them before he died i missed out the just, lol

  • Not really obvious. Aren't they playing with a new singer and using the SAHB name?

  • I meant obviously I saw HIM play before he died

  • saw them in doras swansea before he died awesome respect to the man

  • Alex Harvey Band (Sensational) for sure

Old Grey Whistle Test (Nostalgia )

    Cheers LVEMEDO GR8 share

  • Brilliant psychotic menace - especially when the guitarists dance insanely while Harvey looks lost in his own mad mind among the dolls.

  • CHRIS EVANS BLOODY PLAY IT AS PART OF YOUR SO-CALLED 'D-SPOT' ON A FRIDAY.......................puhLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The most fun performance of any seventies song I think! And that says a lot ;)

  • great band,great version,great dance,

trying to get wife to do the dance

  • Class!!

  • fantastic

  • fantastic live band...still are

  • Just look at utube and see the dross that gets millions of hits. Still they were too good for the masses.

  • My favourite video and one of the best performances by any artist ever.

  • Legendary performance. The definitive "Delilah", IMO.

  • puro teatro y exageracion glam. Buen sentido del humor.

    pure after years

  • like the syd Barrett version too.

  • One of the great WHISTLE TEST moments..

  • mad max is not as good a singer as alex was, in my opinion. his voice is just too diffrent.

  • i saw sahb last month at the bulldog bash they put on a great show even without alex he would be in his 70s now had he have lived and boy i bet he would still be rockin

  • Saw Sahb at the Palladium in London in 1975. That was some show with pipers and a girl singer to do anthem truly awesome band

  • I'll second that!

  • The best version of Delila, sorry Tom.

  • Anyone remember the apollo Xmas shows?

Still up there as the best eevr along with the Clash july 4th 78......

  • A national treasure not forgotten by those who ever saw or heard him a true master

  • Never bettered. Alex on top form. Greatly missed, always fondly remembered

  • is this guy dead??

  • Unfortunately, yes.

  • this is very sad everyone is dying.. what did he die of?? i am almost dead myself

Ya'll have to go one day #;-]

  • cracking

  • Just plain old great and one of a kind.

  • blew the who away at parkhead too

  • I remember this,great to see it again.RIP Alex.

  • alex harvey and zal cleminson top show men

  • Are you watching Mr. Jones? The song was about MURRRDER.

This is how it should have been sung. .... and you're the multi-millionaire in Vegas?

The Sensational Alex Harvey died before his time and without the credit or rewards that he deserved.

Check out the remaining members of the band who are touring again. Vambo Still Rools

  • fantastic

  • Long time fan and like Bonn Scott of AC/DC, he will be missed greatly!! What a band you could only guess how popular these guys could of been. Still listen to them and you know, the lead guitar player had makeup before KISS did. Fits well with the band.

  • I agree hes the DADDY!

  • The most under rated rock band of the seventies, was heartbroken when he died

  • Anyone got faith healer?

  • Hey, I remember The Old Grey Whistle Test show- thanks for the flash back!

  • RIP Alex. Best showman ever, by a mile, in my opinion.
