@sashaqueenie my apologies, i haven't read the book... yet. but it would be ruined for me now anyway. i can never see the movie and the go back and read the book. i tried that once with the vampire diaries and tom cruise's stupid face kept popping up in my mind. regardless of what eli is in the book, i think the director made a decent choice in lina.

It hints towards it throughout the movie with Eli always denying being a girl, and when the boy looks at her when she is changing, she has no genitals.
