I've been to a race in NC and in Vegas.All the races last about 3 days, the people are great, they spend a ton of money, and the tracks have about 1,000 permanent jobs and about 7,500 on Race weekends.The plans for the race track on S.I. included public fast-ferry service to and from NYC everyday with 2,000 comuter parking spots,not a dime of public money.privatly funded.The negative would be listening to Southern hick accents for a week or two.Like Ebonics,except the hicks have jobs...

NC and Vegas aren't nearly as crowded as Staten Island is. Even the traffic in PA is horrible for Dover and Pocono events. Do you really think that the RVs and most Race fans would go for "Fast Ferry" Service to and from the track? People like being able to actually leave the track. If people can't shop outside of the track (due to no access to their vehicles) then it won't help local economy. There is no worse idea in SI history then a Race Track. Better off building a football stadium.

They were going to put a shopping mall right at the track. Did U actually see the plans or u just hate hicks? The ferry would have been used by commuters everyday to get to nyc.We tried a stadium in NY but the liberals voted that down also. We lost two teams to NJ, jobs, tax money, better roads. They'll have Nascar events and indy and formula 1 events in a NJ track in a few years and S.I. will still be famous for a dump and stupid reps in congress n the senate.
