Stay away from lettuce, especially iceberg lettuce, it has no beneficial amounts of vitamins or minerals & can cause an upset stomach. The exception is Romain lettuce, you can give this to them as a treat in small quantities. You probably already do these things as your pigs are in good shape (try to give them a bit more exercise to lose some weight) but trust me on the spinach - try it out if u haven't already - they go nuts for it! about 2 leaves a week is enough but they'll love u 4 it.
If you've got a bit of space in your garden try planting some spinach.My guinea pigs used to love it, above anything else and would squeal with excitement when they saw me picking it for them.
It's so easy to grow and very good for them but as with everything don't give them too much of it.
Give it to them as a treat but give them a variety of mixed fresh vegetables on a daily basis, not as a replacement for their dry food but as a supplement.You can give them cucumber, carrots (with the leaves
@itsChristina97 - No they were not eating the paper . We were opening the presents for them. But ziggy did eat a peice that was on the carpet as soon as he looked like he was gonna bite some more i stopped filming to stop him .

When their comfortable around you then they will sleep anywhere (out in the open or hiden away) . As im typing this Pinky is sleeping in the one cage and Peanut is sleeping in a bed with a top on it. Ziggy bite me good one time and i bleed from it but i cleaned it right away and it didnt swell up.
@ziggypig my guinea pigs has not gone through heat before, well i dont know if they have because i keep them outside. how old should they be to have heat. my piggies are turning six this boxing day i am gonna take them inside and make them live inside because they are getting old i love this vid thanks for uploading it
@Chubbipiggy - I think within 3 months of age they are able to reproduce. Im happy you and everyone except for 10 like this video. We were just talking about Ziggy and Shadow saying we still miss them very much.
@rockursox2 try this it works on my guinea pig. seperate them for 30 minutes or 1 hour. then bath them with the same guinea pig bath shampoo. preferably with strong scents. then dry them up so the scent will be there for a longer time and stronger smell. it works on mine where the two fight until wounded and bleeding, and now they are good companions, although they don't crawl up on each other anymore :-)
@princessstar165 - Some do have red eyes. The flash can cause red eye though. If you click my username and look at my pictures our pig Peanut has red eyes.
I wanted to get each of my three guinea pigs one, but i dont know how you would clean the poop and pee out of it. And because i wouldnt know how to stop it from happening
@SmileyZebra28 - THe poos are usually hard so you can either pick em up or pick up the bed and empty it in the garbage. These ones are machine washable so if they get to soiled you can wash them. Try not to use to much soap it can bother their noses. :)
@Bieber9694 - I order them online at cozycavy.com . I just visited the website as i typed this and learned that the lady that makes the cuddle cups and her family have lost their home in a recent tornado. My thoughts go out to the family and hope they recover from this disaster
@ziggypig We lost our two guinea pigs, Silky and Starbucks, in 2010 too. Silky was 11 and a half when she died in January, and Starbucks passed away in September. She missed her sister so much.
@EclipseandEclaire - Thats just the playpen area not the cage.. A garden is a great idea we do a garden every year and put carrots and romain lettuce in it. The pigs love the carrot greens.
hey my guinea pig is 7 shouldnt he still run around a lot and play? he just sits around,eats,drinks,and comes up to u 2 let him pet you and lick ur hands and thats it besides going potty.. Is it normal or is there something rong?
@babygirlyoulove3-- You should know your pig well enough to tell if he is acting normal or not. Has he always been active? Have you checked his feet to see if anythings wrong? You know 7 is getting old he may have arthritus or somthing in that nature where its starting to hurt to move around.
Im not positive it would be best to have a vet check him out.

@R3R4LJ - Sure it would be fine to get another female for Brownie to play with . They would probably love and fight . :) . I have 2 girls now and they bug eachother and get mad but they love eachother.
@heyheyheyheyhi14 - You should have more then one. They are social animals and they like to be with eachother. If you have them alone and dont have a great deal of time to spend with them they can get lonely and bored fast and it can affect their overall health.
@ImCrAzyFoROreOs - Ziggy and Shadow both slept in their cuddle cups. They have both passed away this year. Our new Pigs Pinky n Peanut they didnt like being out in the open laying in them (cause their shy)so i put them inside their wooden houses and they both go in a house and sleep on them. They love it.
@ImCrAzyFoROreOs - Yes it hurts and they can draw blood. Ziggy used to bite me if i put my finger below his chin it was like insinct. Shadow never bite me . My new pigs Pinky has never bit me but Peanut has. And she just chomped down like my finger was a carrot. What i did was let her bite me and i would Yelp when she did it then tap her snout and say dont bite daddy.. Now she dont bite.
@dja9891721 - I think ive come to peace now with thier passing. Im just so happy that i got to know ziggy n shadow and they got to share there life with me.

Shadow never tried to bite me. My new pigs Pinky has never bit me but Peanut has pretty hard but after a few times she did it and i yelled OWWWW,, She has learned not to do that.
@123americangirl - Boy guinea pigs might fight eachother . Im not positive about that Ziggy was a boy and Shadow was a girl. They both passed away this year so we made sure we got 2 girls so they could live together without problems.
@123americangirl its just a myth but usually if they are close in age its a possibility they will figth but if one is older then the other not really a high chance
@123americangirl Can't say for sure, but I think if they're from the same litter they're fine together. My two boys were from different litters, so one pulled out the other ones fur.
i have had two guinea pigs in the past and they are replaced with my two i have now- one ginger/white abyssinian mix called jigsaw and a abyssinian grey piggy called charlie.... @mochababy1990 - HI, no they dont all get that big. Shadow was way overweight . Ziggy was normal weight for a male. They usually reach 2-3lbs in adulthood.

Our new Pigs Pinky n Peanut they didnt like being out in the open laying in them (cause their shy)so i put them inside their wooden houses and they both go in a house and sleep on them. They love it.

@ImCrAzyFoROreOs - Yes it hurts and they can draw blood. Ziggy used to bite me if i put my finger below his chin it was like insinct. Shadow never bite me . My new pigs Pinky has never bit me but Peanut has. And she just chomped down like my finger was a carrot. What i did was let her bite me and i would Yelp when she did it then tap her snout and say dont bite daddy.. Now she dont bite.

@dja9891721 - I think ive come to peace now with thier passing. Im just so happy that i got to know ziggy n shadow and they got to share there life with me.
I hope this christmas will be as fun with Pinky and Peanut . It will be their first christmas.

@CFDPaul - Ziggy used to bite when I waved my finger under his nose.
Shadow never tried to bite me. My new pigs Pinky has never bit me but Peanut has pretty hard but after a few times she did it and i yelled OWWWW,, She has learned not to do that.

@123americangirl - Boy guinea pigs might fight eachother . Im not positive about that Ziggy was a boy and Shadow was a girl. They both passed away this year so we made sure we got 2 girls so they could live together without problems.

@123americangirl its just a myth but usually if they are close in age its a possibility they will figth but if one is older then the other not really a high chance

@123americangirl Can't say for sure, but I think if they're from the same litter they're fine together. My two boys were from different litters, so one pulled out the other ones fur.

i have had two guinea pigs in the past and they are replaced with my two i have now- one ginger/white abyssinian mix called jigsaw and a abyssinian grey piggy called charlie.... @mochababy1990 - HI, no they dont all get that big. Shadow was way overweight . Ziggy was normal weight for a male. They usually reach 2-3lbs in adulthood.
