What a song ! and what a singer !! We used to wait for this song in the 'Forces request ' and the youth times on the radio '67.'.69..'70's and to listen to this today again after so many years simply gets me the goosebumps !! I will be sixty in a few months but songs like this one just rushes me back .. to those wonderful feelings of those wonderful days gone by ;) :)

This was written by Lonnie Donnegan and Jimmy Currie and had been released on Pye with no success by Donnegan in 1962. Jones would have the smash(Decca F12639) with it in the UK where it staid at four weeks at number 2 through August September 1967.

Seriously, who are the two putzes that did not like this performance? This is the finest rendition of the song I have ever heard. In my opinion he's only sung this better and better as he's aged :) But in this video, you definitley get the heavy emotion in his voice you'll hear in later years, albeit more delicately. I love the notes on "No I'll NEHveeerRRRR" lol sweet as x
